Whitehead

    No full text
This article analyzes the relationship between philosophy, experience and event in A.N. Whitehead’s thought. From the critics of the concept of object, the author retraces and describes the peculiar “abstract-concrete dialectic”, at the center of the researches concerning the perceptual experience. Furthermore, according to Whitehead’s later works, she demonstrates how the philosophical practice is different from all other kinds of science, although it requires science itself because of the co-implication of object and event, abstraction and recognition

    No full text
Gesualdo Bufalino first published Il Guerrin Meschino in 1991 in a non-commercial edition. In 1993, after a deep revision, he re-published his work with publisher Bompiani: the novel has a modified plot, and the author decided to insert three new poems in addition to the opening and closing poems, formerly present in 1991’s edition. This paper, in its entirety supported by handwritten material preserved at Fondazione Gesualdo Bufalino (Comiso), is divided in two parts: the first part illustrates the differences between the first and the second edition, the second part provides a critical edition of the five poems

Abstract : Haematology consists in a rapid and practical analysis to assist the diagnosis of fish homeostatic imbalance. This study determined the blood reference intervals in an important native South American catfish farmed in the brazilian pantanal wetland, Sorubim lima, and describes the morphological and cytochemical characteristics of cells. A total of 92 fish reared in a fish farm were examined for reference intervals 25 - 75% of total plasmatic protein, hemoglobin, red blood cell count (RBC), hematocrit, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) and total thrombocyte and leukocyte count (WBC). PAS with salivary amylase, bromophenol blue, sudan black B and toluidine blue (metacromasy) were the cytochemical stains employed to signal glycogen, proteins, lipids and nuclei in thrombocytes and leucocytes. In the blood smears, monocytes, lymphocytes, neutrophils, basophils, eosinophils, LG-PAS and thrombocytes were observed. Siluriforms similar results were observed in neutrophils and eosinophils morphology. Compared to other pimelodids, RBC, hematocrit and MCV showed index lowest variation. Differently from other siluriforms fishes, S. lima showed the concomitant presence of circulating eosinophils and basophils

Hoogwaterversla

Diagnosis. This subspecies is distinguished by the combination of the following characters: (i) male genitalia with six spines on the ventral region of sclerite B, with the first spine on the anterior portion having a subtle bifurcation (Fig. 3 A); (ii) sclerite C with slightly concave curvature in the direction of the dorsal region of the genitalia (Fig. 3 C); (iii) tegmina: ratio between speculum length and apical area length c. 2.9, and radio between width and apical area length c. 3.16 (Fig. 4 A, B). Description. Head: Dark brown with 4 light brown longitudinal stripes, short bristles over full extent and long black bristles on the frons (Fig. 2 D). Antenna dark brown with scape, pedicel and antennomere whitened in the proximal region. Frons, gena, clypeus, labrum, and mandibles dark brown. White maxillary palpus, with 3 rounded segments and bristles over its entire length (Fig. 2 F). First segment darker on base, and last segment wider and flatter than the others. Labial palpus smaller and darker than maxillary palpus. Thorax and abdomen: Dorsal disc of pronotum with small dark spots, pubescent, with larger and darker bristles on the anterior and posterior margins. Lateral lobe of pronotum dark brown. Metanotum with two drop-shaped stains. The ventral region of the thorax and abdomen light brown, with longitudinal rounded spots that extend all over the abdomen.
