    Experimental study on the side channel spillway and its impact on the jump, cross flow and energy dissipation

    The utilization of the side channel spillway as the primary component of dam is generally due to the limitation of the available space to construct conventional spillway. Some impacts may only be identified through the hydraulic physical model studythese include the presence of the chaotic jumps, the cross flow, as well as the performance of the energy dissipation. This paper presents the result of the experimental study of three-dimensional behaviour of flow over the entire components of the side channel spillway of Bener Dam, Indonesia. The main dam and its appurtenant components were built, and various discharges were introduced to study the hydraulic performance of the spillway crest, the stilling basin, the chute, and the energy dissipater. The results show that firstly, some chaotic hydraulic jumps were found at the stilling basin at downstream spillway crest. These chaotic hydraulic jumps would produce significant vibration that may endanger the nearby structures. Secondly, the presence of the cross flow along the steep channel downstream of the stilling basin may also need to be eliminated to reduce its impact on the rise of water surface level. Thirdly, the presence of the hydraulic jumps at the energy dissipater basin has proven that the energy dissipater has performed well where local scour around the downstream structure was found to be not significant. To anticipate the raising of the water surface elevation at the energy dissipater basin, increasing the elevation of energy dissipater wall from +212.50 m to +215.00 m is highly recommended

    Reservoir Operation to Minimize Sedimentation

    The Wonogiri Reservoir capacity decreases rapidly, caused by serious sedimentation problems. In 2007, JICA was proposed a sediment storage reservoir with a new spillway for the purpose of sediment flushing / sluicing from The Keduang River. Due to the change of reservoir storage and change of reservoir system, it requires a sustainable reservoir operation technique. This technique is aimed to minimize the deviation between the input and output of sediments. The main objective of this study is to explore the optimal Wonogiri reservoir operation by minimizing the sediment trap. The CSUDP incremental dynamic programming procedure is used for the model optimization.  This new operating rules will also simulate a five years operation period, to show the effect of the implemented techniques. The result of the study are the newly developed reservoir operation system has many advantages when compared to the actual operation system and the disadvantage of this developed system is that the use is mainly designed for a wet hydrologic year, since its performance for the water supply is lower than the actual reservoir operations.     This article aims to find out the poetic aspects of efony and kakafoni in the poem "Only" by Sapardi Djoko Darmono. The background of this research is because often readers of literary works, especially poetry, cannot understand poetry as a whole because they are not able to interpret and interpret the contents in the poem. The focus of this research is on the poetic aspects of efony and kakafoni in the poem "Only" by Sapardi Djoko Darmono. The purpose of this research is to find out the poetic aspects of efony and kakafoni in the poem "Hanya" by Sapardi Djoko Darmono, so that readers of literary works, especially the poem "Hanya" by Sapardi Djoko Darmono can understand the atmosphere created and can interpret and interpret the poem. In this study, the author uses qualitative research methods through intuitive and analytical approaches. The research techniques used are: reading-listening, classification, and content analysis. The data in this study is the poem "Only" by Sapardi Djoko Darmono. The results of the analysis of the poem "Only" by Sapardi Djoko Darmono in stanzas one and two contain kakafoni, because in both stanzas it describes a situation that is not harmonious and an atmosphere of unpleasant feelings, while in the third stanza there is a unique atmosphere because it describes a mixture of the two atmospheres. , namely efony and kakafoni or a mixture. This is because the second line in the third stanza describes an atmosphere of neglect and sadness, while the first and third lines describe a pleasant atmosphere because there is a meaning of hope for the writer. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aspek puitik secara efoni dan kakafoni dalam puisi “Hanya†karya Sapardi Djoko Darmono. Adanya penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi karena seringkali para pembaca karya sastra khususnya puisi, tidak dapat memahami puisi secara utuh karena kurang mampu menafsirkan dan menginterpretasi isi yang ada didalam puisi tersebut. Fokus penelitian ini yaitu pada aspek puitik efoni dan kakafoni dalam puisi “Hanya†karya Sapardi Djoko Darmono. Tujuan daripada penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui aspek puitik efoni dan kakafoni dalam puisi “Hanya†karya Sapardi Djoko Darmono, agar para pembaca karya sastra, khususnya puisi “Hanya†karya Sapardi Djoko darmono dapat memahami suasana yang ditimbulkan dan dapat menafsirkan juga menginterpretasi puisi tersebut.Pada penelitian ini penuis menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif melalui pendekatan intuitif dan analitik. Teknik penelitian yang ditempuh berupa: baca-simak, Klasifikasi, dan analisis konten. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah puisi “Hanya†karya Sapardi Djoko Darmono. Hasil analisis dari puisi “Hanya†karya Sapardi Djoko Darmono pada bait satu dan dua terdapat kakafoni, karena pada kedua bait tersebut menggambarkan keadaan yang tidak harmonis dan suasana perasaan yang tidak menyenangkan, sedangkan pada bait ke tiga terdapat suasana yang unik karena menggambarkan campuran kedua suasana, yaitu efoni dan kakafoni atau campuran. Hal itu disebabkan karena baris ke dua pada bait ke tiga menggambarkan suasana tak dianggap dan menyedihkan, sementara itu baris ke satu dam ke tiga menggambarakan suasana yang menyenangkan karena terdapat makna adanya harapan bagi sang penulis

    This study aims to analyze the inner conflict that exists in Prologue\u27s poems as a reflection of the author\u27s psychology and the needs of Sapardi Sapardi Djoko Damono. The approach used is qualitative. Data collection techniques are carried out through reading, listening, and taking notes. The data was then analyzed through a heterogeneous approach accompanied by a descriptive approach. The author interprets the data as well as describes. The results of the study show that the inner conflict of poetry occurs due to worries about life. Meanwhile, the author\u27s psychological description in the poem is spiritual awareness, contemplation of grief and loyalty, isolation and loneliness, reflective and contemplative ability, sensitivity to space and time, appreciation for words. Meanwhile, related to the hierarchy of needs, the poem describes the need for self-actualization, because Sapardi Djoko Damono is able to live the values of humility, understand limitations, and accept tests with patience and sincerity

    Flood is the presence of exessive water where at a certain level creates considerable negative impact. The characteristic of flood is uncertain, either in the magnitude, the time of occurrence, as well as the duration of the occurrence. The uncertainty of the flood occurrence might cause difficulties in anticipatiny its counter measure, at some level of countermeasure, this might contribute impression like to much expenditure, but in the other hand, this might be too careless. Mitigation itself means decreasing, there fore, in flood disaster countermeasure means that negative impact is impossible to be eliminated totally. A method is therefore should be⢠established of how to make best choice of action in the respect of flood disaster mitigation. ⢠This paper deals with the establishment of Decision Support System (DSS), especially to support the flood disaster mitigation program. Some methods of the development of DSS model are briefly introducedwith the method of Analytical Hierarchy Process disaster mitigation is presented as the main target of this paper. The approach of model establishment is made into two separate cases, i.e., for the make use of the short term (operational) and that for the make use of the long term (planning). The results show that the flood disaster mitigation by the make use of the DSS model might guide to the considerably flood selection (if not the best). The best selection of short term mitigation produces the relative mark of 0.360, comprises the action of logistic supply 50%, evacuation 20%, and diking 50%. The best selection of long-term mitigation has the relative mark of 0.67, comprises the action of conservation program 30%, land use improvement 20%, and operation-maintenance program 50%. The presence of DSS for flood disaster mitigation is indeed necessary and continuous improvement of the DSS (i.e., application evaluation â upgrade) should be carried out.     River is a natural stream where its presence may give benefit either loss to human life, depending upon the way how this river is managed. The negative impacts of the river may become very complex when the development activities are such a way that its influence to the hydraulic performance of the mentioned rivers is considerably large. This paper deals with the research of hydraulic routing model of damping reservoir which is mainly aimed to obtain a sufficient degree of flood retention. The development of FRSPILL1 as the first release computer program becomes FRSP1LL4 is a valuable output of the research, since such program may be utilized to rout the hydraulic performance of the reservoir provided with not only spillway facility, but also the bottom out let facility. The environmental condition which is mainly dominated by heavy population of houses in the inundation in accordance with the government regulation, called Peraturan Pemerintah No. 63 Taltun 1993, is also taken into account in the determination of optimum elevation of spillway crest. The results of the hydraulic routing of Kali Pesanggrahan damping reservoir shows that optimum capacity of the routing is obtained at damping efficiency of 24% and 20 Ha inundation as a result of the government regulation implementation in the form of 50 m right of way of the river. The above values also indicate the optimum hydraulic size of the damping reservoir (i.e., the width and crest elevation of the spillway), to suit the environmental situation of the surrounding area, by means of its least negative impact

    The feasibility evaluation of the dam development often meets a complex situation due to the difficulty in determining the benefit. At one side, sufficient number of water availability may have a very considerable strength that the dam is sufficiently reasonable to be developed. At the other side, increasing the reservoir volume might require additional consideration on either technical or non-technical condition. Obviously, the current situation has made the tendency of requiring more consideration on any attempt of the water resources development such as dam development. This paper evaluates the hydro-economy feasibility of the Limo Dam development. Firstly, the water availability is evaluated through the hydrology approach, routing of two types inflow, i.e., high flow and low flow are carried out by the utilization of Muskingum method. Three types of outflow are introduced throughout the routing, i.e., outflow through the spillway crest, outlet system, and direct pumping. Secondly, the economic evaluation is carried out by initially studying the bill of quantity and the unit cost, followed by estimating the cost of dam construction. The total cost of dam construction includes what so called environment cost, i.e. all costs related to land acquisition and resettlement of people from the inundation area. Finally, the economic evaluation is carried out by analyzing the possible benefit that might be withdrawn from the presence of the Limo Dam, and the feasibility parameters are then presented. The results show that the estimate total cost of Limo Dam construction is about Rp. 45,061,476,498.00, this includes the land acquisition and people resettlement. The presence of Limo Dam is anticipated to control flood of Jakarta (with 3-10% damping retention), to produce 2.96 MCM water for DMI purposes of Depok District, and to produce 7.78 MCM water for town flushing of some places downstream of Limo Dam. Assuming the US. currency is remain stable at Rp. 9,000.00 along 30 years, the Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) is 1.15, the Net Present Value (NPV) is Rp. 7,460,162,552.00, at beginning 2003, and the Financial Internal Rate of Return (FIRR) of 13.63%.     Lake Beratan is situated in Bali Islan of Indonesia. The lake is mainly functioned as aplace of interest or a recreation aea, and secondly funtioned as to provide the surrounding people from their daily water need. the culture of the island has made the lake Beratan has some frequent activities such as ritual ceremony of Hindu religion. The paper deals with the hydraulic simulation of the water surface elevation of Lake Beratan, to optimize the need of protecting the ritual ceremony as well as to conserve the water in Lake Beratan. Result of sumulatin shows that by the width of the spillway of 30.000 m and spillway crest elevation of 1235.00 m, gives the maximum inundation at the temples yard of 0.30 m, with the periode of inundation of 0 - 109 day in a year. At the mentioned situation, the averagr volume of the lake water veing spliied is about 8.639 million m3

    AbstractThe technique of character depiction is the way the author uses to inform (characterize, illustrate, and depict) the character (actor) in the story with the characteristic of the attachment attached to the person in question to the reader. The background of this research because the study of literary works, especially  novel Hujan Bulan Juni by Sapardi Djoko Damono has never been studied, the effort to know the meaning of novel as a communication media about a phenomenon, the relevance of social reality in society, and how the technique of depiction of figures used by the author. The purpose of this study is the description of expository techniques and dramatic techniques in the novel Hujan Bulan Juni by Sapardi Djoko Damono, as well as the implementation plan of learning in school. This research is expected to be practical and theoretical for readers, teachers, students, and further research. The theory used in this research is the nature of novel, structural approach in the research of literature, figures, techniques of illustration of figures, and the implementation plan of Indonesian language and literature learning in SMA curriculum 2013. Based on the results of data analysis, obtained the following conclusions. (1) The technique of depiction of characters used by Sapardi Djoko Damono in the novel Hujan Bulan Juni utilizes expository techniques and dramatic techniques. (2) The expository technique in the novel Hujan Bulan Juni by Sapardi Djoko Damono informs the characteristic of the characters in the story with descriptions, descriptions, and explanations directly or simply without being convoluted based on physical characteristics, attitudes, attitudes, character and behavior. (3) The dramatic technique in the novel Hujan Bulan Juni  by Sapardi Djoko Damono informs the characteristic of indirect characters in the story, not explicitly described, but through verbal, nonverbal, and events.
