Idag utgården dominerande diskursen om förorten återigen från etablissemangets perspektiv ävenom den fortfarande utmanas av gräsrotsaktivister som hävdar att förekomsten av våldoch tillgång till fysisk och ekonomisk trygghet är beroende av var man bor och var manbefinner sig i den sociala hierarkin. Lauri och de los Reyes drar därför slutsatsen att diskursen fortfarande är öppen och att framtida sociala kriser – konjunkturer – förmodligenkommer att ge utrymme för nya diskurser som kan leda till andra möjlighetshorisonte

I defend her claim that belief’s objects are, in some important sense, not the bearers of truth and falsity, discuss her dispositionalism about belief, and argue it’s a good fit with the idea that belief’s objects are Russellian states of affairs.

He was born in Chicago in 1967 and grew up in the Midwest and in Europe, New York and Texas. His undergraduate degree was earned in philosophy at New York University. He received an M.F.A. from Brown University, and has since taught writing in New York, Texas, and Virginia. He is a senior editor of the literary journal Conjunctions, and will present a section of new fiction chosen for the spring issue, Sticks and Stones. Full text link[What happened then? Violence, security and thoughts of a different future after the riots in Husby in 2013]What happened after the riots in Husby, a district in Stockholm, in 2013? Based on Stuart Hall’s concept of conjuncture and interviews with residents of Husby, Marcus Lauri and Paulina de los Reyes analyzes the aftermath of the unrest and the possible paths of development that could have led to a different situation than the one we see today. Their analysis shows that the unrest created a discursive opening where authorities’, the police’s and politicians’ understandings of violence and security were temporarily challenged, but this opening was shut down when the residents’ voices were excluded from the public debate. Today, the dominant discourse on marginalized areas is again based on the perspective of the establishment, although it is still challenged by grassroots activists who claim that the existence of violence and access to physical and economic security depends on where one lives and one’s position in the social hierarchy.
