First-order Fragments with Successor over Infinite Words
We consider fragments of first-order logic and as models we allow finite and infinite words simultaneously. The only binary relations apart from equality are order comparison < and the successor predicate +1. We give characterizations of the fragments Sigma_2 = Sigma_2[<,+1] and FO^2 = FO^2[<,+1] in terms of algebraic and topological properties. To this end we introduce the factor topology over infinite words. It turns out that a language is in FO^2 cap Sigma_2 if and only if is the interior of an FO^2 language. Symmetrically, a language is in FO^2 cap Pi_2 if and only if it is the topological closure of an FO^2 language. The fragment Delta_2 = Sigma_2 cap Pi_2 contains exactly the clopen languages in FO^2. In particular, over infinite words Delta_2 is a strict subclass of FO^2. Our characterizations yield decidability of the membership problem for all these fragments over finite and infinite words; and as a corollary we also obtain decidability for infinite words. Moreover, we give a new decidable algebraic characterization of dot-depth 3/2 over finite words.
Decidability of dot-depth 3/2 over finite words was first shown by Glasser and Schmitz in STACS 2000, and decidability of the membership problem for FO^2 over infinite words was shown 1998 by Wilke in his habilitation thesis whereas decidability of Sigma_2 over infinite words is new
Pruning-based identification of domain ontologies
We present a novel approach of extracting a domain ontology from large-scale thesauri. Concepts are identified to be relevant for a domain based on their frequent occurrence in domain texts. The approach allows to bootstrap the ontology engineering process from given legacy thesauri and identifies an initial domain ontology that may easily be refined by experts in a later stage. We present a thorough evaluation of the results obtained in building a biosecurity ontology for the UN FAO AOS project
Automatic multi-label subject indexing in a multilingual environment
This paper presents an approach to automatically subject index fulltext documents with multiple labels based on binary support vector machines(SVM). The aim was to test the applicability of SVMs with a real world dataset. We have also explored the feasibility of incorporating multilingual background knowledge, as represented in thesauri or ontologies, into our text document representation for indexing purposes. The test set for our evaluations has been compiled from an extensive document base maintained by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN). Empirical results show that SVMs are a good method for automatic multi- label classification of documents in multiple languages
The Join of the Varieties of R-trivial and L-trivial Monoids via Combinatorics on Words

Capillary thinning analysis
The data analysis package is composed of three distinct scripts designed to be run in Matlab with png image files. ContactAngle.m measures the contact angle of a liquid bridge and the spreading distance on the substrate for a series of images during liquid bridge thinning. Startpoint_Symmetry finds the minimum radius for a series of liquid bridge thinning images, identifies the start and end point of thinning, and gives information about the overall symmetry of the trials. EC_binning identifies the fitting region, fits and reports relaxation time for elastocapillary thinning fluids. For all three scripts, an example dataset is provided to demonstrate script functionality.This collection of scripts is a package for analyzing extensional rheology data of liquid bridges. While this was created with Dripping-onto-Substrate datasets, this data analysis package may be useful for other liquid bridge thinning applications such as CaBER. Bridging End Users' Terms and AGROVOC Concept Server Vocabularies
The AGROVOC is a multilingual structured thesaurus in the agricultural domain. It has already been mapped with several vocabularies, for example AGROVOC-CAT, AGROVOC-NALT , AGROVOC-SWD. Although these vocabularies already contained a good portion of non-preferred terms, the terms are collected under the literary warrant and institutional warrant principles; which means vocabularies were collected based on the documents and publications rather than user‟s queries. It is still very common that end users would use different terms to express the same concept. In light of above discussion, we need to bridge these vocabularies and the users‟ terms

Evaluation of Teller Services to Customers and Analysing Customer Satisfaction with Teller Services at BSI KCP Lauser
This study discusses the effect of service quality on customer satisfaction in Islamic banks. The purpose of this writing is to know what is customer satisfaction and service quality how to measure service quality, and what are the factors that cause customer satisfaction. This writing can also be seen how the relationship between service quality and customer satisfaction. In conducting research the author uses the literature study method, the author gets references from reliable sources. The results showed that all dimensions of service quality have a significant positive effect on customer satisfaction, which means that the better the quality of service ranging from physical evidence, responsive data, reliability, assurance and empathy provided by Islamic banking will be able to increase customer satisfaction and vice versa. Service is not just about providing services to customers, but also understanding customer needs and desires.
