    PENDIDIKAN DALAM PEMIKIRAN AL-GHAZALI

This article describes Al-Ghazali’s thoughts on education regarding the concept of mankind. His preferred form of education was in line with his concept of mankind. Education, in Al-Ghazali’s opinion, can be viewed from the individual, societal, and psychological sides. From the individual side, education is seen as developing divine characters in humans in line with their promise to Allah and their guidance to science and revelation. Humans long for submission to Allah, and their main struggle in life is to develop divine characters in themselves according to their capacity

Guidance and Counseling based on Sûrat al-Fãtihah

Among the forms of guidance and counseling development there is the emergence of Islamic variety based models of guidance and counseling. One of them is model of al-Fãtihah-Based Guidance and Counseling (FBGC). The model was developed from the belief that science in the study of the Qur\u27an, especially al-Fãtihah has its own place, both in the study of its name and its content. Because it was developed from sÅ©rat al-Fãtihah, all the elements of the service, starting from the philosophical basis, guidance objective, material, procedures, counselors’ competencies and evaluation as well as indicators of the success of the service all are extracted from the contextualization of sÅ©rat al-Fãtihah. This paper was developed from a study of literatures. After doing the library study, the writer concluded that the FBGC can be used as complementary service in the implementation of guidance and counseling at Islamic school to support the embodiment of the golden generation after one hundred years of Indonesian independence in 2045.

The background to the research was the general phenomena indicating societies’ low religiosity, ultimately among the students, and the empirical findings demonstrating that the religiosity of students of SMP Negeri 9 Pontianak City was categorized low. The research aimed to produce a guidance model developed based on the sura (chapter) of al-Fātiḥah to increase students’ religiosity. It employed a design of quasi-experimental study and a mix of quantitative and qualitative approaches. The research is divided into four steps, namely preliminary study, designing the model, rational validity of the model, and field test of the model. Results indicate that the model effectiveness test using t-test proved the Model of Guidance Based on Sura al-Fātiḥah to be effective to increase students’ religiosity. The model’s effectiveness is also proved by an increase in the gain scores for the experimental class, which were higher than the gain scores for the control class. Furthermore, based on effect measurement using Cohen’s d Effect Size Calculator, the effectiveness value of treatment using the model was categorized into a large effect. The research recommends that Principals and Counselors of SMP Negeri 9 Pontianak continue applying the Guidance Model Based on Sura al-Fātiḥah in the school; and that future researchers follow-up the present research in the settings of kindergarten, elementary school, senior secondary school, and higher education and develop a guidance model based on other verses or chapters in the Al-Quran

This research was motivated by preliminary research findings which show the level of academic procrastination among the students of Islamic Religious Education Department (PAI) of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FTIK) of the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Pontianak at 71.88% which is in the high category, even at 8.75% which is in the very high class and the findings of several studies which stated that SFBC effectively overcomes various psychological problems . The research aims to prove the effectiveness of the Treatment Model of Academic Procrastination based on FSBC to reduce the behavior of academic procrastination among students who are writing their undergraduate thesis. In practice, this research used the Research and Development (R&D) approach and the model effectiveness testing, which was is conducted with One Group Pretest-Posttest Experimental Design. The data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using percentages and t-test. The results showed that the outcomes of the pretest-posttest average score decreased by 36.533 (from 231.666 to 195.133). Furthermore, the SFBC Model t-test showed a significance value of 0.00 (less than the alpha value of 0.05). Thus, the SFBC is sufficient to reduce the behavior of academic procrastination among the students of the Department of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) of the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Pontianak

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
