Ramli Abdul Wahid and His Thoughts on Islamic Education
Ramli Abdul Wahid and His Thought on Islamic Education. This paper discusses the biography of Ramli Abdul Wahid, a North Sumatra scholar who has multidisciplinary thinking. He is a Hadith expert, but discusses various disciplines and one of them is Islamic education. This research is a qualitative research with a character study approach. From the research conducted, the author concludes that Ramli Abdul Wahid's Islamic education thinking is motivated by his educational history and his position as chairman of the fatwa commission at the Indonesian Ulama Council of North Sumatra (MUI SU) and Al-Jam'iyatul Washliyah Medan. Therefore, the orientation of Islamic education according to him is that it must be in accordance with Islamic values based on the Qur'an and Hadith
TLS-VaD: A New Tool for Developing Centralized Link-Scheduling Algorithms on the IEEE802.15.4e TSCH Network
A simulator plays an important role in network protocol research, as it enables researchers to develop protocols more flexibly. Many simulators have been developed to support research in this field, including NS-2, NS-3, OPNET, OMNeT, and Cooja. Although, as a research support tools, NS3 and Cooja have already been equipped with an Internet of things (IoT) module, their support for research on IoT centralized scheduling is still limited. Therefore, this study is aimed to develop a tool for IoT centralized scheduling research, where the IoT technology is based on the IEEE802.15.4e time synchronized channel hopping (TSCH) standard. The tool is called the TSCH Link-Scheduling visualization and data processing (TLS-VaD). The results of validity tests show that TLS-VaD works well; therefore, this tool can be used in the performance measurement of centralized scheduling algorithms on TSCH networks. As an example of the application, this research used TLS-VaD to test the performance of three scheduling algorithms: Iman Ramli Bursty Transmission Scheduling Algorithm (IRByTSA), first top scheduling algorithm (FTSA), and first leaf scheduling algorithm (FLSA). The test results using TLS-VaD shows that IRByTSA had better performance compared to FLSA and FTSA, because it saved more power and was able to generate scheduling decisions relatively quickly
Secure Cybersecurity Information Sharing for Sectoral Organizations Using Ethereum Blockchain and IPFS
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in increased cross-sector cyber-attacks. Passive and reactive cybersecurity techniques relying solely on technology are insufficient to combat sophisticated attacks, necessitating proactive and collaborative security measures to minimize attacks. Cybersecurity Information Sharing (CIS) enhances security via proactive and collaborative cybersecurity information exchange, but its implementation via cloud services faces threats from man in the middle (MITM) and distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks, as well as a vulnerability in cloud storage involving centralized data control. These threats and vulnerabilities result in a lack of user confidence in the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information. This paper proposes Secure Cybersecurity Information Sharing (SCIS) to secure Cybersecurity Information in sectoral organizations using the private interplanetary file system (IPFS) network and the private Ethereum Blockchain network. Private Ethereum Blockchain enables secure and transparent transaction logging, while Private IPFS network provides decentralized storage, addressing vulnerabilities in centralized storage systems. The outcomes of the tests reveal that the suggested SCIS system offers cybersecurity information availability, confidentiality, and integrity. SCIS provides a high level of security to protect cybersecurity information exchanged between sectoral organizations using the Private Ethereum Blockchain network and the Private IPFS network so that organizations can safely share and utilize information
INFORMATION SECURITY RISK MANAGEMENT DESIGN OF SUPERVISION MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM AT XYZ MINISTRY USING NIST SP 800-30
SIMWAS is an information system at the XYZ Ministry that is used to manage supervisory activities and follow up on supervisory results. SIMWAS is an important asset that contains all internal control business processes, but in practice, SIMWAS information security risks have not been managed properly. To overcome these problems, information security risk management is needed at SIMWAS. This study aims to design and analyze SIMWAS information security risk management using the NIST SP 800-30 framework. NIST SP 800-30 focuses on a particular infrastructure and its boundaries. Since the purpose is to perform a technical risk analysis of the core IT infrastructure, it is highly prescriptive. It has nine primary steps to conduct risk assessment. The NIST SP 800-30 framework is used to design and analyze SIMWAS information security risks by identifying threats, vulnerabilities, impacts, likelihoods, and recommendations for controls. SIMWAS information security risk assessment is carried out by analyzing data obtained from the results of interviews, observations, and document reviews. The results of this study show that SIMWAS information security has four low-level risks, eight moderate-level risks, and five high-level risks. Very low and low risk levels are acceptable according to the risk appetite of the business owner, but moderate, high, and very high-risk levels require risk avoidance, risk transfer and risk reduction. The XYZ Ministry need to carry out residual risk analysis and cost-benefit analysis from implementing controls in each risk scenarios
An Improved Active Network Concept and Architecture for Distributed and Dynamic Streaming Multimedia Environments with Heterogeneous Bandwidths
A problem in todays Internet infrastructure may occur when a streaming multimedia application is to take place. The information content of video and audio signals that contain moving or changing scenes may simply be too great for Internet clients with low bandwidth capacity if no adaptation is performed. In order to satisfactorily reach clients with various bandwidth capacities some works such as receiver-driven multicast and resilient overlay networks (RON) have been developed. However these efforts mainly call for modification on router level management or place additional layer to the Internet structure, which is not recommended in the nearest future due to the highly acceptance level and widely utilization of the current Internet structure, and the lengthy and tiring standardization process for a new structure or modification to be accepted. We have developed an improved active network approach for distributed and dynamic streaming multimedia environment with heterogeneous bandwidth, such as the case of the Internet. Friendly active network system (FANS) is a sample of our approach. Adopting application level active network (ALAN) mechanism, FANS participants and available media are referred through its universal resource locator (url). The system intercepts traffic flowing from source to destination and performs media post-processing at an intermediate peer. The process is performed at the application level instead of at the router level, which was the original approach of active networks. FANS requires no changes in router level management and puts no additional requirement to the current Internet architecture and, hence, instantly applicable. In comparison with ALAN, FANS possesses two significant differences. From the system overview, ALAN requires three minimum elements: clients, servers, and dynamic proxy servers. FANS, on the other hand, unifies the functionalities of those three elements. Each of peers in FANS is a client, an intermediate peer, and a media server as well. Secondly, FANS members tracking system dynamically detects the existence of a newly joined computers or mobile device, given its url is available and announced. In ALAN, the servers and the middle nodes are priori known and, hence, static. The application level approach and better performance characteristics distinguished also our work with another similar work in this field, which uses router level approach. The approach offers, in general, the following improvements: FANS promotes QoS fairness, in which clients with lower bandwidth are accommodated and receive better quality of service FANS introduces a new algorithm to determine whether or not the involvement of intermediate peer(s) to perform media post-processing enhancement services is necessary. This mechanism is important and advantageous due to the fact that intermediate post-processing increases the delay and, therefore, should only be employed selectively. FANS considers the size of media data and the capacity of clients bandwidth as network parameters that determine the level of quality of service offered. By employing the above techniques, our experiments with the Internet emulator show that our approach improves the reliability of streaming media applications in such environment
PURA-SCIS protocol: a novel solution for cloud-based information sharing protection for sectoral organizations
Over recent years, the incidence of data breaches and cyberattacks has increased significantly. This has highlighted the need for sectoral organizations to share information about such events so that lessons can be learned to mitigate the prevalence and severity of cyber incidents against other organizations. Sectoral organizations embody a governance relationship between cross-sector public and private entities, called public-private partnerships (PPPs). However, organizations are hesitant to share such information due to a lack of trust and business-critical confidentially issues. This problem occurs because of the absence of any protocols that guarantee privacy protection and protect sensitive information. To address this issue, this paper proposes a novel protocol, Putra-Ramli Secure Cyber-incident Information Sharing (PURA-SCIS), to secure cyber incident information sharing. PURA-SCIS has been designed to offer exceptional data and privacy protection and run on the cloud services of sectoral organizations. The relationship between organizations in PURA-SCIS is symmetrical, where the entities must collectively maintain the security of classified cyber incident information. Furthermore, the organizations must be legitimate entities in the PURA-SCIS protocol. The Scyther tool was used for protocol verification in PURA-SCIS. The experimental results showed that the proposed PURA-SCIS protocol provided good security properties, including public verifiability for all entities, blockless verification, data privacy preservation, identity privacy preservation and traceability, and private information sharing. PURA-SCIS also provided a high degree of confidentiality to protect the security and integrity of cyber-incident-related information exchanged among sectoral organizations via cloud services
Desain dan Analisis Sistem CyberShare Menggunakan Four Node Interplanetary File System (IPFS)
Cybersecurity information sharing is a proactive and collaborative measure in enhancing organizational security by exchanging cybersecurity information using a centralized repository service. However, in practice, the use of centralized services poses a threat to distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks which can result in system failure and cause single point of failure as well as man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks which can result in modification of information and theft of exchanged information. This threat results in a lack of user confidence in the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information. This study proposes the design of a secure cybersecurity information sharing (CyberShare) system using a private interplanetary file system (IPFS) network as a decentralized information storage. Unlike centralized storage which only has a single-node, CyberShare systems use four-node IPFS interconnected with swarm keys as authentication keys. This system allows users to store and share information from the sender to the recipient of information, avoiding dependence on a central server and reducing server load. The results of the analysis show that the proposed CyberShare system can guarantee the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of cyber security information. CyberShare systems can enhance the security of the information exchanged so that organizations can safely share and utilize cybersecurity information

Mobile leaming (m-Iearning) allows electronic learning materials accessed through mobile device. The imponent thing to consider in developing m-Iearning is the adaptation capability of the Web applications to meet the client's device limitation. This paper describes the design and implementation of" lightweight adaptive m-Iearning system. The system adapts dynamically to the limitation of the client's device. One of the adaptation methods running in server side is transformation technique that involves conversion (rom one markup language to oibers. eXtensible Markup Language (XML) technology sets apart the implementation of data end presentation, and hence, makes it easier to perform adaptation technique through transformation, The advantage of the XML technology is its efficient Web management technique, since only single data tormet is needed in each content. The continuing advances in digital storage, transmission and processing technology makes interactive multimedia within the reach of a network environment. This opens a wide range of services for accessing from the living room in a residential environment. These technological advances, however, create the need for a suitable user interface. The interface may be built into the users' television set or a stand-alone multimedia console that allows the viewer to selectively combine and switch between entertainment and information.
