No full textProducción CientíficaEstudiar la obra de Arne Jacobsen exige cierta paciencia. sus escasas declaraciones públicas o textos escritos exigen remitirse a los hechos en sí, sean éstos consumados en forma de edificio, objeto cotidiano, proyecto arquitectónico, diseño textil, dibujo, acuarela o fotografía. Una mínima distancia separaba su estudio de arquitectura —ubicado en el semisótano de su casa del residencial 'Søholm I'— y su jardín doméstico, lugar donde solía entretenerse pintando, cultivando plantas y fotografiando escenas vegetales. esa proximidad es la misma que hay entre las acuarelas o fotografías que allí preparaba y sus proyectos arquitectónicos. la presente investigación: se sitúa en esa posición intermedia donde se cruzan las múltiples formas que desarrolló Jacobsen para aprehender el universo visible y las posibilidades de imaginarlo. a lo largo del libro se muestran las huellas de ese intercambio para así facilitar la aproximación a su obra. al descubrir esas claves paisajísticas que dan sentido a las ideas arquitectónicas de sus proyectos se pretende poner en valor al paisaje como un material muy fértil en manos del arquitecto moderno. acaso es su vigencia la que hoy, agotados ya de tantos excesos visuales de rápido consumo en los medios especializados, podamos reivindicar para el ejercicio profesional contemporáneo.Teoría de la Arquitectura y Proyectos Arquitectónicos (Universidad de Valladolid)Título: EL PAISAJE CODIFICADO EN LA ARQUITECTURA DE ARNE JACOBSEN.

A Facile Approach toward 8-O-4'-Neolignans: Synthesis of Threo-7',8'-Dihydromachilin D through Jacobsen Epoxidation

Currently, neolignans remain as important synthetic targets due to their reported biological potential against parasites and fungal infections. Thereof, a new approach for the synthesis of the 8-O-4'-neolignan 7',8'-dihydromachilin D based on Jacobsen epoxidation as key step is described here. This stereoselective synthesis proceeded in only 4 steps in 3.9% overall yield. Jacobsen epoxidation was firstly optimized regarding to yield and enantioselectivity employing trans-stilbene as model substrate
Variations on the Author
No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Cisgenesis: an important sub-invention for traditional plant breeding companies
No full textModern plant breeding is highly dependent on new technologies to master future problems. More traits have to be combined, frequently originating from wild species. Traditional breeding is connected with linkage drag problems. The crop plant itself and its crossable species represent the traditional breeders gene pool. GM-breeding is a new way of improving existing varieties. Transgenes originate from non-crossable species and are representing a new gene pool. For release of GM-plants into the environment and onto the market in Europe Directive 2001/18/EC has been developed, primarily based on GM-technology and not on gene source. In society, opposition against GM crops is complicating the implementation of GM crops. In this paper, it is shown that not only transgenes, representing a new gene pool but also cisgenes and intragenes are available, representing the breeders gene pool. Cisgenes are natural genes and intragenes are composed of functional parts of natural genes from the crop plant itself or from crossable species. Cisgenesis is the combined use of only cisgenes with marker-free transformation, mimicking linkage drag free introgression breeding in one step. Therefore, cisgenesis is a new sub-invention in the traditional breeding field and indicates the need for reconsideration of GM Directives. Inventions are frequently containing not only hardware elements, but also software and orgware elements. For cisgenesis it is foreseen that the technical (hardware) and bioinformatic (software) elements will develop smoothly, but that implementation in society is highly dependent on acceptance and regulations (orgware). It could be made in a step by step approach by specific crop-gene derogations from the Directive, followed by adding cisgenesis to annex 1b of Directive 2001/18/EC for exemption. At present GM crops can only be introduced by large companies. An open innovation approach for cisgenesis by public private partnership including traditional SMEs has been discussed.
