Variations on the Author
No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

No full textTese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas, Programa de Pós-Graduação em História, Florianópolis, 2015.Este esboço de biografia procura citar algumas imagens de Otto Maria Carpeaux: construções biográficas de naturezas múltiplas, elaboradas em contextos, por atores e sob condições igualmente díspares. Está constituído a partir de uma visão crítica da História, o que permite que ?outras imagens?, fragmentárias e não monumentais, também tenham espaço. Em diálogo com o princípio da montagem, este esboço apresenta-se em duas partes. Na primeira, Imagens possíveis, estão citadas as imagens elaboradas em vida e post mortem acerca do austríaco-brasileiro que nasceu em Viena em 1900, se exilou no Brasil em 1939 e morreu no Rio de Janeiro, em 1978. Na segunda, Montagens possíveis, apresentam-se duas possibilidades de exercício biográfico: pela leitura alegórica do documentário O velho e o Novo (Otto Maria Carpeaux), entendido como instrumento de intervenção no contexto ditatorial brasileiro e de uma reelaboração biográfica concernentes às suas experiências europeias; e pelo Caderno de imagens críticas, registro dos encontros em Carpeaux pelo meio de imagens críticas produzidas a partir da cesura do presente.Abstract : This biographical sketch attempts to quote some images of Otto Maria Carpeaux: various types of biographical constructions, carried out in different contexts by disparate authors under conditions just as distinct. It stems from a critical view of history, allowing for ?other images? fragmented and non-monumental ? to share the space.In dialogue with the montage principle, this sketch has two parts. The first, Possible Images, quotes the images produced during and after the life of the Austrian-Brazilian, who was born in Vienna in 1900, went to Brazil in exile in 1939 and died in Rio de Janeiro in 1978. The second part, Possible Montages, presents two possibilities of a biographical exercise: through the allegorical reading of documentary O Velho e o Novo (Otto Maria Carpeaux), understood as an instrument of intervention in the Brazilian dictatorship context and as a biographical retelling of the author?s European experiences; and through my Scrapbook of Critical Images, a record of the encounters in Carpeaux through critical images produced from the caesura of the present
Revealing intelligent packaging for food products from consumers’ point of view in Georgia
No full textPurpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the awareness, perception and attitude of consumers from Georgia toward smart, active and intelligent packaging of food products. Design/methodology/approach: This study is based on a quantitative research method using a survey questionnaire tool to gather data from consumers in Georgia. Findings: The scope of the sample is restricted to only one developing country. Yet, the research results are still significant in creating knowledge about innovative food packaging from different country contexts and to understanding the acceptance of intelligent active packaging by consumers. Research limitations/implications: Intelligent packaging facilitates companies with their sustainability efforts by reducing waste and environmental impact. It increases the desirability of products as responds to customer demands and leads to consumer satisfaction. Intelligent packaging can increase trust in bioproducts; for example, it is possible to track and check or monitor the origin of a product and prove that the product producer has really manufactured a bioproduct. Originality/value: The study contributes to the discussion of the applicability and use of packaging with enhanced features in the food industry. In this respect, the performed pilot study fills the gap in the packaging literature by investigating consumers’ perspectives on intelligent packaging in Georgia – a non-EU, post-soviet, developing country

A saúde infantil é um parâmetro geral da qualidade dos serviços de saúde de todos os países do mundo. A Unidade de Saúde da UBS Maria Iza Viane do Castro, pertencente ao Município de Bujari, Estado do Acre. O presente estudo teve como objetivo melhorar a qualidade da atenção em saúde ofertada às crianças de 0 a 72 meses pertencentes à área de abrangência da UBS Maria Iza Viane do Castro do Bujari /AC. O foco da intervenção foi escolhido levando-se em conta as necessidades prementes observadas na comunidade, por ser a saúde da criança um dos grupos mais sensíveis quanto às doenças, porque são menores as resistências às mudanças, além de podermos verificar resultados concretos em menor prazo. A intervenção realizada contemplou ações em quatro eixos: organização e gestão do serviço, monitoramento e avaliação, qualificação da prática clínica e engajamento público. Para os objetivos específicos que abarcam a cobertura do programa, qualidade de atendimento, adesão e promoção de saúde da criança, foram elaboradas metas com as suas respectivas ações desenvolvidas, implementadas e executadas nos quatro eixos e elaborados indicadores que permitiram o monitoramento das respectivas metas. Os dados mais relevantes foram relacionados à ampliação da cobertura da atenção à saúde das crianças, na qual conseguimos alcançar 100%(182). Foram adequadamente avaliadas as 182 crianças da área de abrangência incluídas no programa, sendo ofertadas orientações educativas de prevenção e promoção de saúde e, como aspecto relevante da qualidade, conseguiu-se aumentar a proporção de crianças de 6 a 72 meses com primeira consulta odontológica. A intervenção trouxe benefícios para a comunidade, não somente porque aumentou seus conhecimentos sobre saúde e consciência sobre a importância do acompanhamento adequado das crianças, mas trouxe ainda grande impacto sobre o serviço, ganhando-se em organização e melhoria na qualidade e integralidade da atenção ofertada em saúde da criança. Maior credibilidade por parte da comunidade, coesão, definição de lideranças e devido aos excelentes resultados obtidos, a intervenção foi incorporada à rotina de atendimento da unidade
Defeating the Dark Sides of FinTech: A Regression-Based Analysis of Digitalization’s Role in Fostering Consumers’ Financial Inclusion in Central and Eastern Europe
No full textFinancial technologies metamorphose economies with customer-focused innovation. In this way, financial inclusion is fostered and economic growth is increased. However, risks, trust issues, and ethical concerns stem from the faster advancement of digital technologies and expanding financial innovation. Thus, this paper aims to understand the risks and barriers associated with FinTech and consumer adoption, focussing on the impact of digitalization on financial products/services’ acceptance. The research investigates the impact of digitalization on financial services and the recognition of the role played in the global economy by FinTech. For this reason, the regression analysis was used to explore the influence and correlation of various variables on FinTech in Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, such as Internet usage, online shopping, paying bills via the Internet, and making and receiving digital payments. The results show differences between three clusters of CEEs in terms of FinTech adoption. While several past studies have explored the advantages of FinTech, few studies have investigated the risks associated with its adoption, trust, and barriers to its usage in different country contexts. The present paper fills the gap by analysing the data on Internet usage, online shopping, paying bills via Internet, and sending or receiving digital payments in CEE countries. The study recommends that FinTech companies share information online not only to present their offerings to users, but also to promote financial education through clear and straightforward communication about the features of their services. This approach can indirectly benefit society by contributing to financial development, inclusion, social stability, and, consequently, sustainable development
