Opera singer Ivo Žídek - supporter of the singing school of Rudolf Vašek
Bakalářská práce se zabývá tenoristou Ivo Žídkem a pěveckou školou Rudolfa Vaška. The bachelor's thesis deals with opera tenor Ivo Žídek and the singing school of Rudolf Vašek.
The extraordinary success of The Holy (1917) made Rudolf Otto famous, but it also contributed to propagate a simplified figure of the author. The rest of his work was condemned to oblivion, which caused misleading interpretations of The Holy itself. A genetic reconstruction of the way in which Otto established the term «heilig» in the technical German proves to be fruitful. When considering his interpretation of Luther and his Fries-based opposition to a neoKantian approach to the concept of «transcendental», the philosophical relevance of Otto’s theory of religion can be fully recognized, as well as unsuspected links to Husserlian phenomenology
Rudolf Marschall and Ivo Kerdić
Rudolf Ferdinand Marschall (Vienna, 1873 – Vienna, 1967) was one of the most celebrated among the many medallists of the Sezession in Austria. He modelled medals with the portraits of two Austrian emperors, the German Emperor, the Czar of Bulgaria, the popes from Leon XIII to John XXIII, and many more illustrious persons of the first half of the 20th century. In 1905 he was involved into the so-called “Affaire Marschall”. Namely, when his teacher Joseph Tautenhayn retired the Emperor appointed R. Marschall as his successsor, the hell broke loose, including an unseen general strike at the Academy of Fine Arts. Since the Emperor’s decree could not be annulled, the Austrian minister of Religion and Education founded a new school for engravers and medallists in 1905 and appointed R. Marschall its director, a post he held until the Anschluss in 1938, when he was retired and the school closed. The Marschall Affair was also described by one of the eyewitnesses, Ivo Kerdić, the Croatian pupil of Marschall’s in his unpublished memoirs “Moj život i uspomene” (My life and memories). For the history of Croatian medal R. Marschall has some significance, because he was the author of several important plaquettes. One of them was struck on the occasion of the inauguration of the Bosnian-Dubrovnik narrow-track railway in 1901. It connected Bosnia with the coast of Dubrovnik, running from Sarajevo, via Mostar, Metković, Gruž in Dubrovnik, to Zelenika in the Bay of Kotor. The other plaquette was made in 1905, and originally it was planned to mark the 90th birthday of the famous Roman Catholic bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer, whom R. Marschall had portrayed while still alive. However, the bishop died and the plaquette was issued on the occasion of his demise

Art historian Rudolf Chadraba and his work
The aim of this thesis is to explore and evaluate the scientific work of art historian Rudolf Chadraba who is generally considered to be one of the founders and the most distinctive representatives of an iconological method in czech art history. The Master's thesis doesn't make efforts to survey Chadraba's scientific career from biographic point of view in a clearly and chronologically way, because the main focus of the interpretation lies on starting points of Chadraba's work, specific influences on him, particular motifs and themes, which are penetrating and reflected in his academical works of art historian and which therefore form his peculiar method. Biographical information about Rudolf Chadraba is introduced here only briefly, the text tends to point out Chadraba's transdisciplinary approach and his extensive conception of iconology. Moreover, it pays a lot of attention to influences of such personalities as Max Dvořák, Ladislav Cejp, Alois Dempf, Josef Strzygowski or Herbert Read, who represent important source of inspiration in Chadraba's scientific work. Theories and methods of these scholars in connection with Chadraba's interest in tradition and triumphalism in christian art initiated his pursuing parallels between european and oriental art, which were insufficiently employed in czech art..

Rudolf Hilferding on English Mercantilism
In 1911 Rudolf Hilferding, the author of the famous book Finance Capital: A Study of the Latest Phase of Capitalist Development, published an article on the history of English mercantilism in Die neue Zeit, the theoretical organ of the Social Democratic Party of Germany edited by Karl Kautsky. The writing of the article was motivated by the publication, the previous year, of the third volume of Theories of Surplus-Value, containing Marx’s analysis of the work of Richard Jones, as well as by the simultaneous appearance of a German edition of Thomas Mun’s England’s Treasure by Forraign Trade. This article introduces the present author’s English translation of Hilferding’s article on mercantilism, titled “The Early Days of English Political Economy,” previously available only in German, and contextualizes it in the framework of the history of Marxist scholarship.Fil: Gaido, Daniel Fernando.
