Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

No full textDoktora TeziBu tezde, Osmanlı dönemi şairlerinden Abdulganî b. İsmail en-Nablusî'nin hayatı ve divanı incelenmiştir. Çalışma bir giriş ve üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde Osmanlı dönemi Arap şiiri ve şairin yaşadığı Şam şehriyle ilgili genel bilgiler verilmiştir. Birinci bölümde şairin kimliği, ailesi, eğitimi, hocaları ve edebî şahsiyeti hakkında incelemeler yapılmıştır. İkinci bölümde en-Nablusî'nin şiirleri içerik yönünden tahlil edilmiştir. Bu bağlamda şiirler konularına göre tasnif edilmiş ve bu konular edebî tenkit eserlerinde yer alan kıstaslara uygun olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde en-Nablusî'nin şiirleri şekil ve üslup bakımından incelenmiştir. Kaside yapısı, cümle yapıları, anlatım teknikleri gibi başlıklar altında değerlendirilen şiirlerin edebî değerleri tespit edilmeye gayret edilmiştir.This thesis attempts to analyse life and dewan of Abdulganî b. Ismail en-Nablusi who is one of the Ottoman Period poets. This study consists of an introduction and three chapters. The introduction is about Arabic poetry in the Ottoman Period and it also gives information about Damascus where en-Nablusi lived. In the first chapter it is dealt with en-Nablusi's personality, family, education and style of his poems. In the second chapter it is attempted to analyse en-Nablusi's poems in terms of their contents. In this context, the poems are categorised according to their themes and they are evaluated considering the criteria in literary criticism works. In the third chapter en-Nablusi's poems are analysed in terms of both form and content. It is tried to determine the literary value of the poems which are examined under the headlines such as qaside structure, sentence structures, narrative techniques

Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

No full textVâhidî, hicrî beşinci asrın önde gelen âlimlerinden biridir. Dini ilimlerin çeşitli alanlarında önemli eserler kaleme almıştır. Yazdığı üç farklı hacimdeki tefsirleriyle beraber asıl "Esbâbü'n-Nüzûl" isimli eseriyle meşhurdur. Çalışmanın konusunu, "Ebü'l-Hasen Alî b. Ahmed b. Muhammed en-Nîsâbûrî el-Vâhidî'nin Hayatı ve el-Vecîz fi Tefsîri'l-Kitab'il-'Azîz İsimli Tefsirinin Metodu" oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Vâhidî'nin el-Vecîz isimli eserindeki Kur'ân'ı açıklama metodunu ortaya koymak hedeflenmiştir. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde, Vâhidî'nin yaşadığı bölgenin ve İslam âleminin siyasi durumu, ailesi, hayatı, ilmi ve kültürel çevresi, mezhebî yönü, ilmî kişiliği, talebeleri ve eserleri incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde, çalışmamıza konu olan el-Vecîz'in çeşitli kaynaklar-da geçen farklı isimleri, yazma nüshalarda ayet benzerliğinden kaynaklanan hataları, âyetlerin tefsir metodlarıyla ilgili özellikleri olan; âyetlerin âyetlerle, sahabe ve tabiîn sözleriyle tefsirine yer verilmiştir. Ayrıca Kur'ân'da açıklanması gereken hususlarla ilgili tefsir usûlü kaideleri, âyet ve hadislerden örnekler verilerek açıklanmıştır. Çalışmanın üçüncü bölümünde ise, el-Vecîz'de tespit edilen Kur'ân ilimlerine yer verilmiştir. Ayrıca el-Vecîz'de müellifin işaret ettiği belâğî incelikler ilgili âyetler çerçevesinde izah edilmiştir. Bunun yanında tefsirde dikkat çeken nahvî ve sarfî kaidelerin yer aldığı âyetlere yer verilip bu kaideler izah edilmiştir. Yine bu bölümde müellifin ahkâm âyetleriyle Kur'ân'daki kıssaları açıklayış şekillerine ve kelâmî konulara yaklaşımına yer verilmiştir. Sonuç bölümünde ise bu üç bölümde yapılan çalışmaların genel bir değerlendirmesi yapılmıştır.Vahidi is one of the leading scholars of the fifth century hijri. He wrote important works in various fields of religious sciences. He is famous for his work named "Esbâbü'n-Nüzül", together with his commentaries in three different volumes. The subject of the study is "Ebü'l-Hasen Ali b. Ahmed b. The Life of Muhammad en-Nîsâbûrî al-Vâhidi and the Method of his Tafsir called el-Vecîz fi Tefsîri'l-Kitab'il-'Azîz. In this study, it is aimed to reveal the method of explaining the Qur'an in Vâhidi's work called el-Vecîz. In the first part of the study, the political situation of the region where Vahidi li-ved and the Islamic world, his family, life, scientific and cultural environment, sectarian aspect, scientific personality, students and works were examined. In the second part of the study, the different names of al-Vecîz which is the subject of our study, mentioned in various sources, the errors caused by the similarity of the verses in the manuscripts. The features of the verses related to the exegesis methods. In addition, the prin-ciples of exegesis method related to the issues that need to be explained in the Qur'an are explained by giving examples from verses and hadiths. In the third part of the study, The Qur'an sciences identified in al-Vecîz are included. In addition, the eloquent subtleties pointed out by the author in al-Vecîz are explained within the framework of the relevant verses. In addition, the verses in which there are nahwî and expeditious rules that draw attention in tafsir are included and these rules are explained. Again in this section, the author's way of explaining the verses of the Qur'an and the stories in the Qur'an and his approach to theological issues are included. In the conclusion part, a general evaluation of the studies done in these three parts is made

Ia dilaksanakan secara fizikal dan ianya disertai oleh 137 orang yang terdiri daripada pelajar semester 5 Ijazah Sarjana Muda Pentadbiran Korporat dan 4 orang pegawai pengiring dari kalangan pensyarah iaitu Puan Farihah binti Hassan, Encik Mohd Faiz bin Ismail, Dr. Mohamed Fajil Abd Batau dan Puan Norashikin binti Mohd Mokhtar. Pragmatic Case Studies as a Source of Unity in Applied Psychology
No full textTo unify or not to unify applied psychology: that is the question. In this article we review pendulum swings in the historical efforts to answer this question—from a comprehensive, positivist, “top-down,” deductive yes between the 1930s and the early 60s, to a postmodern no since then. A rationale and proposal for a limited, “bottom-up,” inductive yes in applied psychology is then presented, employing a case-based paradigm that integrates both positivist and postmodern themes and components. This paradigm is labeled “pragmatic psychology” and, its specific use of case studies, the “Pragmatic Case Study Method” (“PCS Method”). We call for the creation of peer-reviewed journal-databases of pragmatic case studies as a foundational source of unifying applied knowledge in our discipline. As one example, the potential of the PCS Method for unifying different angles of theoretical regard is illustrated in an area of applied psychology, psychotherapy, via the case of Mrs. B. The article then turns to the broader historical and epistemological arguments for the unifying nature of the PCS Method in both applied and basic psychology.Peer reviewe
