Os gêneros poéticos no Almocreve de Petas, de José Daniel Rodrigues da Costa
No full textThis paper aims to realize the study of the poetical texts present in the Portuguese journal Almocreve de Petas, from José Daniel Rodrigues da Costa, that circulated in Lisbon between the final years of 18th century, analyzing how satire was set in this poetry and what were its objectives. The main authors who provided us theory supports were Barbosa (2007), Eagleton (2003), and Pécora (2001). Several poetic genres were found in our reading such as sonnets and décimas, mostly being credited to an author called Moço do Poeta. We concluded that the satire present in the journal was a method of reprehending the readers’ bad behaviors, aiming to cease everything that was prejudicial to good social connivance.Nosso trabalho tem como proposta o estudo da poética presente no Almocreve de Petas, periódico português do final do século XVIII de autoria de José Daniel Rodrigues da Costa, analisando de que forma a sátira estava nela contida e quais eram seus objetivos. Os principais autores que serviram de suporte teórico para a pesquisa foram Barbosa (2007), Eagleton (2003), e Pécora (2001). Encontramos diversos gêneros poéticos, predominantemente sonetos e décimas, ao longo das partes do periódico, atribuídos, em maior parte, a um determinado Moço do Poeta. Concluímos que a sátira nos gêneros poéticos presentes servia como uma forma de admoestação aos leitores, procurando cortar-lhes os vícios apontados como prejudiciais à boa convivência social
Originalidade e pessimismo: a recepção da criminologia positivista na obra de Nina Rodrigues
Get PDFThis paper seeks to understand the process of reception of positivist criminology in Brazil, from the work of Raimundo Nina Rodrigues, a doctor from Maranhão and professor of legal medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia. The author studied especially the black race as a relevant factor in the development of Brazil in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Criminology positivist in Brazil served as a discourse of legitimation of social inequality then existing under the pretext that it was natural inequalities. Nina Rodrigues was undoubtedly a singular author in the reception of these theories.O presente trabalho busca compreender o processo de recepção da criminologia positiva no Brasil, a partir da obra de Raimundo Nina Rodrigues, médico maranhense e professor de medicina legal da Faculdade de Medicina da Bahia. O autor estudou especialmente a raça negra como fator relevante do desenvolvimento do Brasil entre o final do século XIX e início do século XX. A criminologia positiva no Brasil atuou como discurso de legitimação da desigualdade social então existente sob o pretexto de tratar-se de desigualdades naturais. Rational identification of a colorectal cancer targeting peptide through phage display
Get PDFColorectal cancer is frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage due to the absence of early clinical indicators. Hence, the identification of new targeting molecules is crucial for an early detection and development of targeted therapies. This study aimed to identify and characterize novel peptides specific for the colorectal cancer cell line RKO using a phage-displayed peptide library. After four rounds of selection plus a negative step with normal colorectal cells, CCD-841-CoN, there was an obvious phage enrichment that specifically bound to RKO cells. Cell-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was performed to assess the most specific peptides leading to the selection of the peptide sequence CPKSNNGVC. Through fluorescence microscopy and cytometry, the synthetic peptide RKOpep was shown to specifically bind to RKO cells, as well as to other human colorectal cancer cells including Caco-2, HCT 116 and HCT-15, but not to the normal non-cancer cells. Moreover, it was shown that RKOpep specifically targeted human colorectal cancer cell tissues. A bioinformatics analysis suggested that the RKOpep targets the monocarboxylate transporter 1, which has been implicated in colorectal cancer progression and prognosis, proven through gene knockdown approaches and shown by immunocytochemistry co-localization studies. MEMÓRIAS E HISTÓRIAS DE CAMPO GRANDE: UMA ANÁLISE A PARTIR DA OBRA “HISTÓRIA DE CAMPO GRANDE” DE JOSÉ BARBOSA RODRIGUES (1977-1980)
No full textThis article historically analyzes the work “História de Campo Grande” by the memoirist José Barbosa Rodrigues, published in 1980. Starting from the hypothesis that the work does not contemplate the diversity of agents and cultures present in the city, the study investigates the interests and discourses of the author by highlighting certain groups to the detriment of others in the production of an official memory for Campo Grande, the capital that emerged shortly after the division of the state of Mato Grosso, in 1977. The relationship between memory and the city is initially addressed, understanding the city as material instrument of collective life and its relationship with the construction of memories, based on Pierre Nora's concept of places of memory. Then, the research analyzes specific chapters of the work that go from the origin myth of the city to the hygienist policies of the beginning of the 20th century, considering the temporality in which the author is inserted, since his social position and his political opinions are intertwined with his motivations in forging a memory that benefits a group to the detriment of other practices and memories.
Keywords: urban elite, city, memory, region.Este artigo analisa historicamente a obra “História de Campo Grande” do memorialista José Barbosa Rodrigues, publicada em 1980. Partindo-se da hipótese de que a obra não contempla a diversidade de agentes e culturas presente na cidade, o estudo investiga os interesses e discursos do autor ao evidenciar determinados grupos em detrimento de outros na produção de uma memória oficial para Campo Grande, capital que emergia logo após a divisão do estado de Mato Grosso, em 1977. A relação entre memória e cidade é inicialmente abordada, entendendo a cidade como instrumento material da vida coletiva e sua relação com as construções de memórias, a partir do conceito de lugares de memória de Pierre Nora. Em seguida, a pesquisa analisa capítulos pontuais da obra que vão do mito de origem da cidade às políticas higienista do início do século XX, considerando a temporalidade em que o autor está inserido, já que sua posição social e suas opiniões políticas estão entrelaçadas com suas motivações em forjar uma memória que beneficia um grupo em detrimento de outras práticas e memórias.

No full textThe investigation of the seductive game, often buried under cover of dissimulation, which involves us in family, religious, political contexts among many others and the outbreak of repressed desires and fantasies exposed by Nelson Rodrigues in Asfalto Selvagem: Engraçadinha, seus amores e seus pecados were our academic investigation purposes. Theoretical principles related to literary verisimilitude developed by Terry Eagleton, as well as Freud’s psychoanalytic principles in relation to the feminine, the bisexual and the passive were our theoretical foundation and provided us with arguments to deepen the interpretations of Rodrigues’ writings. To this end, our specific objectives were: a) To relate Freud’s attempts on the feminine, in the characters Engraçadinha, Silene and Letícia and; b) To analyze the movement of bisexuality in the character Letícia. Our research was bibliographic, descriptive with a qualitative approach. Through the readings and investigations undertaken, we realized that Nelson Rodrigues’ novel presents not only patterns of behavior that describe characters based on psychoanalysis, but the author himself, at various times, uses psychoanalytic terms to explain the behavior of some of them and reveal patterns in others, which proves Nelson Rodrigues’ psychoanalytic perspective.A investigação do jogo sedutor, muitas vezes soterrado em socapas de dissimulações, que nos envolvem em contextos familiares, religiosos, políticos dentre tantos outros e o eclodir de desejos e de fantasias reprimidas expostos por Nelson Rodrigues em Asfalto Selvagem: Engraçadinha, seus amores e seus pecados foram os nossos propósitos de averiguação acadêmica. Princípios teóricos relacionados à verossimilhança literária desenvolvidos por Terry Eagleton, assim como princípios psicanalíticos de Freud em relação ao feminino, ao bissexual e ao passivo foram cá nossa fundamentação teórica e nos forneceram argumentos para aprofundarmos as interpretações dos escritos rodrigueanos. Para tanto, nossos objetivos específicos foram: a) relacionar as investidas de Freud sobre o feminino, nas personagens Engraçadinha, Silene e Letícia e; b) analisar o movimento de bissexualidade na personagem Letícia. Nossa pesquisa foi bibliográfica, descritiva com abordagem qualitativa. Em meio às leituras e às investigações empreendidas, percebemos que o romance de Nelson Rodrigues apresenta não só padrões de comportamento que descrevem personagens fundamentadas à luz da psicanálise, mas o próprio autor, em diversos momentos, utiliza termos psicanalíticos para explicar o comportamento de algumas e revelar padrões de outras, o que comprova o olhar psicanalítico de Nelson Rodrigues

No full textThis article presents the results of our research on the Portuguese humor press of the 18th century. Taking as our object and topic the jesting works of the Portuguese writer José Daniel Rodrigues da Costa, we present the peculiarities of this written genre, using the concept of "editorial formula" by Roger Chartier (1997) and the conception of D. F. Mckenzie (2004) on the determination of the medium in the creation and retention of new literary genres. We analyze the inclusion of the author in the new regime of professionalization of the literary activity.

No full textKnown by the famous epithet of Greek Master, for having been the first to teach the language
of Homer in a university in the Iberian Peninsula, the Portuguese humanist Aires Barbosa (ca. 1470-1540)
stands out as a teacher of Latin and Greek at the University of Salamanca in the first quarter of the
sixteenth century. Between 1511 and 1517, alongside his teaching activities, he published four booklets in
Latin designed to clarify his disciples about the subjects he taught, a collection of epigrams and an
extensive volume entitled Commentary of Arator's “Historia apostolica” (1516), the embodiment of the
lessons given by Barbosa in the regency of the chair of Grammar, and which constitutes his masterpiece.
The original edition of this works present several reasons of interest and no less difficulties for those who
venture to read and transcribe the barbosian text, and reflect the advances and limitations of the Press in
the city of Tormes in the early sixteenth century. The aim of this paper is to describe and explain several
aspects that stand out in the reading of the original text, such as excessive compression of the text and
the lack of illustrations, even when they were initially planned; the existence of errors assignable to either
the author or to the carelessness of the printer; the constant use of abbreviations, some of them not filed
in dictionaries by the experts; or the transcription of words and texts in Hellenic language into Latin
