    Short-term prediction of traffic flow status for online driver information

    The principal aim of this study was to develop a method for making a short-term prediction model of traffic flow status (i.e. travel time and a five-step travel-speed-based classification) and test its performance in the real world environment. Specifically, the objective was to find a method that can predict the traffic flow status on a satisfactory level, can be implemented without long delays and is practical for real-time use also in the long term. A sequence of studies shows the development process from offline models with perfect data to online models with field data. Models were based on MLP neural networks and self-organising maps. The purpose of the online model was to produce real-time information of the traffic flow status that can be given to drivers. The models were tested in practice. In conclusion, the results of online use of the prediction models in practice were promising and even a simple prediction model was shown to improve the accuracy of travel time information especially in congested conditions. The results also indicated that the self-adapting principle improved the performance of the model and made it possible to implement the model quite quickly. The model was practical for real-time use also in the long term in terms of the number of carry bits that it requires to restore the history of samples of traffic situations. As self-adapting this model performed better than as a static version i.e. without the self-adapting feature, as the proportion of correctly predicted traffic flow status increased considerably for the self-adapting model during the online trial

    Uslub qashar adalah salah satu uslub bahasa Arab yang selalu digunakan baik dalam prosa maupun frasa, bahkan di setiap buku bahasa Arab manasajaselalu ditemukan satu atau beberapa uslub qashar dengan thariqoh yang berbeda-beda. Begitu pula dalam Al-Qur’an, uslub qashar ini banyak digunakan dalam ayat-ayatnya. Sebagai petunjuk otentik yang diberikan Sang Pencipta untuk kemashlahatan ciptaanNya (baca: manusia) yang diturunkan dengan berbahasa Arab dan memiliki uslub-uslub yang mengandung mukjizat dan susunan kata yang indah melebihi uslub-uslub Bahasa Arab yang ada dewasa ini, maka untuk memahami Al-Qur’an dibutuhkan penguasaan ilmu-ilmu bahasa Arab khususnya ilmu Balaghah yang membahas ilmu Ma’ani yang mana salah satu pembahasannya adalah Qashar. Olehsebabitu, penelititertarik mengangkat sebuah judul penelitian “UslubQashar dengan Thariqah Innamaadalam Al-Qur’an Al-Karim (Studi Analisis Balaghah dan Penerapannya dalam Pembelajaran Bahasa Arab”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan uslub qashar dengan thariqoh Innamaa yang terdapat dalamAl-Qur’an yaitu mengenai jenis-jenis qashar, rukun, maksud dan tunjukannya dari aspek balaghah, serta menentukan penerapan pembelajaran yang tepat untuk mempelajari qashar tersebut. Adapun objek penelitian ini adalah uslub-uslub Qashar dengan thariqoh Innamaa dalam Al-Qur’an, khusus yang menggunakan jumlah ismiyyah yang berjumlah 62 ayat. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti menggunakan sumber data, terdiri dari sumber primer dan sumber skunder yang berhubungan dengan objek penelitian. Metode dalam mengumpulkan data menggunakan bahsunmaktabiyyun, dengan metode simak catat serta membaca buku-buku yang berkaitan dengan judul. Sedangkan metode analisis data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah analisis isi (Content Analisis) dengan menggunakan tabel. Setelah peneliti melaksanakan penelitian terhadap Al-Qur’an dan buku metodologi pengajaran bahasa Arab, maka diambil kesimpulan sebagai berikut: 1. Ayat-ayat yang mengandung uslub qashar dengan thariqah innamaa dalam bentuk jumlah ismiyyah berjumlah 62 ayat. Uslub qashar terbagi menjadi: - Berdasarkan thorfain : qashar shifah ‘ala maushuf terdapat di 10 ayat, dan qashar maushuf ‘ala shifah terdapat di 53 ayat. - Bardasarkan al-waaqi’: qashar hakiki terdapat di 18 ayat, dan qashar idhafi terdapat di 44 ayat. - Berdasarkan halil mukhatab:qashar ifrad terdapat di 19 ayat, qashar qalb terdapat di 20 ayat, dan qashar ta’yiin terdapat di 6 ayat. 2. Adapun qashar yaitu ifadah mukhatab an itsbaat takhsis (mengkhususkan). 3. Metode pengajaran uslub qashar dengan thariqah innamaa yang sesuai adalah metode Al-Isitqroiyyah

    Asiantuntijana kehittyminen rikosseuraamusalalla

    Tämän päiväkirjamuotoisen opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tutkia omaa työtäni asiantuntijana rikosseuraamusalalla ja selvittää millaista osaamista asiantuntijalla on hyvä olla. Opinnäytetyössä tutkin omaa osaamistani ja kehittymistarpeitani sekä pohdin työhyvinvointia ja sitä tukevia tekijöitä. Tutkimus toteutettiin pitämällä päiväkirjaa kymmenen viikon ajan. Jokainen viikko päättyi viikkokoosteeseen pohdintoineen. Viikkokoosteen tukena käytettiin lähdekirjallisuutta teemojen mukaisesti. Päiväkirjahavaintojen, vertaispalautteen ja lähdekirjallisuuden pohjalta laadin yhteenvedon asiantuntijan työtehtävän menestystekijöistä ja toin esiin omaa osaamistani sekä kehittymistarpeitani asiantuntijana. Opinnäytetyön tuloksena syntyi Asiantuntijatyön menestystekijät Talo. Talo-mallin avulla kuvaan millaista osaamista asiantuntijalla on hyvä olla, millaista osaamista minulla on ja sekä tuon esiin omia kehittymistarpeitani sekä työhyvinvointia tukevia asioita. Pohdinnoissa tuon esiin kehittämisajatuksia liittyen asiantuntijoiden perehdyttämiseen ja koulutuspolun rakentamiseen sekä oppimisen kehittämiseen näkemällä työpaikat luonnollisina oppimisympäristöinä. Asiatuntijatyön osaamisen johtamista tulisi myös kehittää. Tulevaisuuden työelämäntaitona nostan esiin vuorovaikutustaidot ja siihen liittyvän koulutuksen lisäämisen. Opinnäytetyö oli matka omaan ammatilliseen kasvuun ja tutkimuksellisen tavoitteen lisäksi prosessi vahvisti ammatillista identiteettiäni ja avasi uusi ammatillisia näkymiä. Opinnäytetyössä käytetty päiväkirjamuoto teki prosessista hyvin henkilökohtaisen. Omien ajatusten, tunteiden ja näkemysten reflektoiminen asettaa tutkijan myös alttiiksi arvostelulle. Toisaalta taas ajattelen, että päiväkirjamuotoisen opinnäytetyön tarinallisuus lisää mahdollisuutta samaistua kirjoittajaan.The objective of this bachelor’s thesis was to explore the author`s work as an expert in the prison and probation services and to map the skill set an expert should possess. The thesis explores the author´s competences, development needs and well-being as well as factors supporting it. The study was carried out by keeping a diary for ten weeks. Each week ended with a weekly summary with reflections. Source literature was used to support the weekly summary according to the themes. Based on the diary observations, peer feedback and source literature, a summary of the success factors of the expert work was drawn up and the author`s development needs were highlighted. As a result of the thesis, a model was created that presents the success factors of expert work. This model helps to describe what competence an expert should have, what competence the author has and highlight the author´s development needs and factors that support well-being at work. In the reflections, development ideas are presented concerning the training of experts and the construction of an educational path, as well as the development of learning by seeing workplaces as natural learning environments. Expert work competence management should also be developed. Interaction skills and the related increase in education are highlighted as future working life skills. The thesis was a journey to professional growth, and in addition to the research goal, the process expands the authors professional prospects. The diary format used in the thesis work made the process very personal. Reflecting on one's own thoughts, feelings and views also exposes the researcher to criticism. On the other hand, the story-like nature of a thesis in the form of a diary increases the possibility of identifying with the author

    Short-term prediction of travel time using neural networks on an interurban highway

    The main purpose of this study was to investigate the predictability of travel time with a model based on travel time data measured in the field on an interurban highway. Another purpose was to determine whether the forecasts would be accurate enough to implement the model in an actual online travel time information service. The study was carried out on a 28-kilometre-long rural two-lane road section where traffic congestion was a problem during weekend peak hours. The section was equipped with an automatic travel time monitoring and information system. The prediction models were made as feedforward multilayer perceptron neural networks. The main results showed that the majority of the forecasts were close to the actual measured values. Consequently, use of the prediction model would improve the quality of travel time information based directly on the sum of the latest measured travel times

    This report documents the survey, which was designed to investigate views on the importanceof different key performance indicator (KPIs) for expressing the impact of automation in roadtransportation in several impact areas. It documents the rating results and additional KPIsproposed by the 77 experts in Europe, US and Japan who filled in the survey.The Trilateral Impact Assessment Subgroup of ART WG will use these results when decidingthe recommendations for the KPIs to be used in the impact assessment studies. Therecommendations and a full list of potential KPIs (KPI repository) will be added to the version2.0 of their impact assessment framework (expected in April 2018)

    This study was designed to present an online model which predicted travel times on an interurban two-lane two-way highway section on the basis of field measurements. "br/"The study included two parts: an evaluation of the performance of the model, and an examination of the possibility to improve the model in case of unsatisfactory performance. The model was based on MLP neural networks. The main results of the evaluation showed that the prediction model outperformed a non-predictive system. "br/"However, the model for one section had not performed as well during the trial period as was expected. This might be due to a slight change in the congestion phenomenon. After further development, the findings showed that the model could be improved considerably with new data. "br/"The main implication was that even a simple prediction model improves the quality of travel time information substantially, compared to estimates based directly on the latest measurements
