Authority and Personality in M.M. Bakhtin\u27s Author and Hero in Aesthetic Activity
No full textM.M. Bakhtin\u27s fundamental claim in his seminal essay Author and Hero in Aesthetic Activity situates verbal action as the most essential constituent of human personality. A careful reading of this text reveals important truths about the relationship between free individual personhood and the nature of the speech utterance. Bakhtin connects the human experience of speech to the life and person of Jesus Christ emphasizing the incarnation and the Trinitarian view of God as essential principles for understanding the creative power of the word and consequent liabilities. Bakhtin develops these theological and philosophical coordinates around a discussion of the author-hero relationship in the novel asserting that the verbal utterance is creatively involved in building and sustaining the inner personhood of those it addresses. Bakhtin\u27s critical conclusion substantiates that from whom a word is received, and to whom the spoken word appeals has weighty influence on the type and character of human personality, and that personality\u27s relationship to authority

Use of Metaverse in Education

In this study, the factors affecting the historical development of Metaverse, the Metaverse architecture and the use of Metaverse in the field of education are discussed. The strengths and weaknesses of the use of Metaverse in the field of education are emphasized; the opportunities it will offer and the problems and threats that may be encountered are examined. Since Metaverse is a new concept, a resource for the use of Metaverse in the field of education has been tried to put forward by using the limited number of sources currently available in the literature. In this study, it is emphasized that the Metaverse environment can add a new dimension to the field of educational technologies. However, it should be taken into account that the necessary technologies and architectures in this field are not mature enough yet. Therefore, it is considered a necessity to determine appropriate strategies for the use of Metaverse in the educational field and to start determining its widespread effect until the infrastructure of Metaverse matures. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG

This course covers almost all of the basic concepts for many other courses in the curriculum and requires active learning of students. For this purpose, especially "propositions" concept, which cannot be understood well in prior years, should be covered with every detail. Previous studies show that learning by entertaining activities and competition has positive effect on student motivation. In this study, an Internet-based Discrete Mathematics Package (DMP) for "propositions" that can work in mobile devices and encourages competitive learning between students has been developed within related literature. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005
International standards based information technology courses: A case study from Turkey

These programs are based on international standards. One of the programs is for the students of the university, the other one is for the people who are unemployed or who want to be employed in Information Technology (IT) business. The first education program that covers all university students is based on the standard of international European Computer Driving License (ECDL). The second program is IT employment program that is based on the curriculum of American Computing Association (ACM). Establishing a K-12 circuit design program
No full textOutreach, as defined by Wikipedia, is an effort by an organization or group to connect its ideas or practices to the efforts of other organizations, groups, specific audiences, or the general public. This paper describes a computer engineering outreach project of the Department of Computer Engineering at Ege University, Izmir, Turkey, to a local elementary school. A group of 14 K-12 students was chosen by a four-stage selection method to participate in this project. This group was then taught discrete mathematics and logic design courses from the core curriculum of the Computer Engineering program. The two 11-week courses have a total of 132 contact h. The course contents are conveyed through both theoretical lessons and laboratory sessions. All of the laboratory sessions were carried out by K-12 students. Volunteer teachers from the elementary school participated in the project. The evaluations carried out during and at the end of project indicated the degree of satisfaction on the part of students and teachers. The project is still ongoing with the same methodology in its third year. © 2009 IEEE

Plant introduction, conservation and enrichment of biodiversity in M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine
No full textThe paper deals with the main achievements of scientists of M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine (NBG) in scientific, conservation, cultural and educational activities. The results of researches on biodiversity, conservation, plants protection, introduction, acclimatization and selection, allelopathy, medical botany, landscape design, bioindication and hemosystematycs are given. It is noted that over 14 thousands species, forms and varieties of plants, are collected in NBG, and the most unique collections attributed to the objects of national heritage. Breeders have obtained more than 300 certificates or author ship on plant varieties. NBG carries out extensive international cooperation, several new exposition of plant collection appeared in Botanical Garden. In recent years the achievements of NBG scientists were awarded by two State Awards in the field of science and technology of Ukraine
