Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui beberapa hal, yaitu: (1) mengetahui keadaan locus of control internal pada siswa kelas XI di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Wates, (2) mengetahui keadaan kematangan karir pada siswa kelas XI di Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan 1 Wates, dan (3) mengetahui hubungan antara locus of control internal dengan kematangan karir pada siswa kelas XI di SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Wates.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dengan pendekatan kuantitatif jenis penelitian korelasional. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan angket atau kuesioner dengan skala Likert. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan proporsional random sampling. Data yang digunakan yaitu data primer yang diperoleh dari hasil pengumpulan kuesioner. Sampel yang dilibatkan yaitu siswa kelas XI SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Wates sebanyak 64 siswa. Analisis data yang digunakan yaitu regresi linier sederhana. Variabel independen yaitu locus of control internal dan variabel dependen yaitu kematangan karir.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagian besar siswa memiliki locus of control internal dalam kategori baik ditunjukan dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 39 siswa (60,9%) dalam kategori baik dan kematangan karir siswa dalam kategori cukup baik ditunjukan jumlah siswa sebanyak 38 orang (59,4%) dalam kategori cukup baik. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa keadaan locus of control internal siswa SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Wates dalam keadaan baik dan keadaan kematangan karir siwa SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Wates dalam keadaan cukup baik. Terdapat hubungan antara locus of control internal dengan kematangan karir siswa kelas XI SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Wates. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan nilai r hitung lebih besar dari r tabel yaitu (4,725>1,980) dan nilai signifikansi lebih kecil dari 5 % yaitu (0,000<0,05). Korelasi locus of control internal dengan kematangan karir sebesar 0,265 atau 26,5%. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa variabel locus of control internal mempunyai sumbangan efektif terhadap kematangan karir sebesar 26,5% dan sisanya 73,5% dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain.

The objective of research was to describe: (1) the correlation between structural elements existing in Text Pakeliran Garap Sedalu Natas Lakon “Makutharama” by Ki Purbo Asmoro based on Robert Stanton’s theory, (2) the Mental Revolution Theme of leadership existing in Text Pakeliran Garap Sedalu Natas Lakon “Makutharama” by Ki Purbo Asmoro, and (3) the relevance of mental revolution theme in Text Pakeliran Garap Sedalu Natas Lakon “Makutharama” by Ki Purbo Asmoro to the life today. This study was a literary study using descriptive qualitative method. The data source in this research was a book entitled Makutharama by Ki Purbo Asmoro, transcribed by Kathryn Emerson, published by Yayasan Lontar Jakarta (2013) with ISBN: 978-602-9144-02-4. The data of research was the text Pakeliran Garap Sedalu Natas Lakon “Makutharama” by Ki Purbo Asmoro. Techniques of collecting data used in this research were content analysis and interview. The results of research analysis were as follows. (1) Overall, the text Pakeliran Garap Sedalu Natas Lakon “Makutharama” by Ki Purbo Asmoro showed the correlation between elements within it based on Robert Stanton’s theory. (2) There was a mental revolution theme existing in the Pakeliran Garap Sedalu Natas Lakon “Makutharama” by Ki Purbo Asmoro referring to Hastabrata and reflected on the characters of wayang (puppet). (3) There was a relevance of mental revolution theme including motivation, solution, role model, prestige, persistence, wisdom, bravery and firmness in Pakeliran Garap Sedalu Natas Lakon “Makutharama” by Ki Purbo Asmoro to the life today. Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
