Paul Ignaz Bayer, Adam Franz von Schwarzenberg und das Schloss Ohrada
The study deals with the construction of the hunting Chateau of Ohrada near Hluboká nad Vltavou. The opening part of the paper presents a critical evaluation of previous Bayer investigations. The author builds upon the texts by Milena Bartlová and considers the possible reasons for the contrary evaluations of the builder by F. Mareš, H. G. Franz and V. Naňková to stem from their implicitly nationalistic standpoints. The main part of the paper analyses the correspondence from the period of the building of the chateau in 1708-1713. Following the methodological ideas by J. Kroupa, P. Fidler and P. Vlček, the author attempts to reconstruct the builder’s interventions with the process of planning and building the Chateau of Ohrada. The author holds that the hunting chateau is not the result of an individual’s creative genius. He perceives the result as an intersection of a number of mutually influential factors dominated by the investor’s interest. At the same time, Jan Ivanega summarises the research of the contemporary inventories which enabled reconstructing the use of the individual areas and subsequently looks out over the Baroque landscape surrounding the chateau. The study also contains a transcript of a letter with the builder’s inquiries and the investor’s replies. The study deals with the construction of the hunting Chateau of Ohrada near Hluboká nad Vltavou. Paul Ignatz Bayer, Adam Frantz Prince of Schwartzenberg and Chateau of Ohrada as a part of the Residence Network of the Baroque Nobleman
The Bachelor Thesis Pavel Ignác Bayer, Adam František from Schwarzenberg and Ohrada Lodge. The hunting lodge as part of the baroque nobleman´s residential net deals with the examitation of the Hunting Lodge Ohrada in a wider cultural and historical context. Jan Ivanega focuses on research of the builder´s intellectual world, and its reflection in the specific Ohrada building task. The analysis of the research sources (correspondence, bills, plans from State Archive Třeboň) has proofed that building of Ohrada Lodge was not a creative act of the only one person but a combination of a wide range of factors, from the builder´s own wishes over the economic possibilities of the domaine, to the architect and craftsmen´s abilities. The author has taken advantage of until today unknown stock for reconstruction of the original image, operation of seperated parts of the complex, and its placement into a wider landscape framework. He concludes the work by considering a possible use of the Ohrada Lodge after finishing its construction, and its placement within the Schwarzenberg´s residential net
The Entry of Maximilian II into Vienna in 1552
The work deals with the entry of Maximilian II into Vienna in May 1552. The work is based on theoretical suggestions of sociology, and by the range of examined questions it endorses attitudes of historic anthropology. The entry is analyzed on the basis of Barbara Stollberg-Rillinger methodological starting points. She understands the early modern period rituals as a symbolic communication area in which the hierarchy of society is mirrored. Research in Habsburg entries in the 16th century carried out by Václav Bůžek served for the comparison. The search was based on three Latin pieces written by two different authors dealing with the entry topic. The methodical and source attitudes are introduced in the first chapter. The entry is described as a subject of historic search and there is provided an outline of the historiography view on Maximilian II. The next chapter describes, on the basis of work with literature and the analysis of sources, the journey from Spain to Vienna. The next chapter represents the core of the work in which the creation of a picture of distinguished persons mentioned in the sources, especially Maximilian II, his wife Marry of Spain, and an important person in Maximilian{\crq}s escord Adam of Dietrichstein, is examined. The pieces authors{\crq} attitudes to the Turkish imperia are indicated at the same time. In the picture attachment a selection of Maximilian II portraits is provided. In these the identical elements with the ruler{\crq}s description submitted in the analyzed sources are searched. The conclusion of the work summarizes the results of the search. From the author{\crq}s point of view, the searched entry did not differ from the series of Habsburg fests. In the sources Maximilian II is celebrated as a member of a distinguished ancestry with an exceptional nobleness, a patron of art and a conqueror of Turks who is protected by a fairy hand
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Stavební řemeslníci na schwarzenberských panstvích v Čechách 1660–1848 : příspěvek ke slovníku umělců
The landed property of the Schwarzenberg family in Bohemia developed through a steady process of acquisitions in the second half of the 17th and the first half of the 18th century. The family's landed property in Bohemia was one of the largest possessions in the Habsburg Monarchy and comprised a collection of estates and land in central, southern, and eastern Bohemia. This article seeks to map the figures and the careers of the construction tradesmen (masons and carpenters) who worked on the countless construction projects for the Schwarzenberg's in 1660–1848. It contributes to an understanding of the mobility and education of baroque tradesmen and discovers a number of previously unknown figures. The sources used for the information include parish registers and the Schwarzenberg family's own records of building projects and construction tradesmen. The parish registers provide information on the age, profession, and social ties of the tradesmen. The records on the building projects indicate what work individal tradesmen did on the project. The nobility's records on hired labour provide an outline of the careers of individual tradesmen and especially information on when a given tradesman entered the service of the state, received an increase in wages, was discharged, or was replaced in the case of death. The materials collected in this research reveal that the nobility were consistently interested in hiring tradesmen from the ranks of the inhabitants of heir estates. The ideal master mason or carpenter on a Schwarzenberg estate tended to have been trained with the support of the nobility, was able to speak both of the languages used in the land (Czech and German), knew how to draw, and was able to maintain a precise budget and accounts during the course of the construction work. The landed property of the Schwarzenberg family in Bohemia developed through a steady process of acquisitions in the second half of the 17th and the first half of the 18th century.
