No full textBy reminding the criteria of separation of Boyko Land as a cultural and historic territory and the Boykos as an ethnographic group the author aims to convince that we are not dealing with history of exploring the ethnographic areas, but the history of inventing them. Talking about the Boykos in Boyko Land is synonymous with commitment to a number of ideas from the history of science, the old concepts of culture, folk culture, ethnicity, cultural-historical school and anthropogeoghraphy, physical anthropology, and physiognomies, folklore and ethnography. Contrary to Boyko Land researchers the author claim that since the beginning of the nineteenth century to the present day in Ukraine they deal not with a great ethnic group – the Boykos, but with many local communities of Ruthenian mountaineers – the ethnographic groups. The old and popular in the north-eastern Carpathians depreciating words related to the alien, such as “Boyko” or “Lemko”, were released from the meaning by the intellectuals who were engaged in science, literature and politics in order to apply them to name the groups and their territories

твердження, що по лінії матері поета спадкоємців не було. На сьогодні віднайдено відомості про
сорока вісьмох двоюрідних братів і сестер, сімдесятьох трьох племінників Т. Шевченка, трьох
внучатих небожів. Вичерпний аналіз архівних матеріалів заперечує існування Агафії Якимівни
Бойко, про яку в низці повідомлень у медіа йдеться як про матір поета.The article explores the genealogy of Shevchenko’s mother Kateryna Boyko based on archival
materials of the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Kyiv, the State Archive of Kyiv Region
and the State Archive of Cherkasy Region. The author investigated this family tree starting from the
end of the 18th century and until 1859, when Shevchenko visited Ukraine for the last time. In particular,
the history of the poet’s family in connection with his grandfather Omelian Boyko was analyzed. The
assumption that family line of Shevchenko’s mother originates from Carpathian rebel and contemporary
of Oleksa Dovbush Ivan Boyko was rejected. Some details about the closest relatives of T. Shevchenko,
namely his uncle Pavlo, aunts Dariya, Yevdokiya and Anna, have been clarified. Information about
two unknown writer’s aunts Varvara and Motria has been found.
The assertion that the mother’s family line lacked descendants was refuted. The surnames in
marriage of the five Shevchenko’s aunts, having maiden surname Boyko, have been determined.
They were Varvara Kryvenko, Motria Zavaliy, Dariya Diachenko, Yevdokiya Diadenko, Hanna Shkurup.
By now we have information about forty nine poet’s cousins, seventy four nephews and three greatgrandchildren
of his aunts. The comprehensive analysis of the archival materials allows the researcher
to deny the existence of Ahafiya Yakymivna Boyko, the alleged poet’s mother according to some
media reports.
The article also refers to the administrative structure, nature and geography of the village Moryntsi
in the first half of the 19th century. The life of Ukrainian peasants is discribed based on the story
“Kniahynia” (“Princess”) by T. Shevchenko as well as archival documents and research works by
V. Hrabovetskyi, V. Orlyk, L. Pohylevych, O. Stepanyshyna
Concept FAITH as a value postulate of idiostyle V. S. Boyko

Виокремлено ядрову, приядрову та периферійну зони. Описано художньо-семантичні наповнення мікроконцептів. Визначено авторську позицію щодо існування особистості у світі, а також індивідуально-авторські потрактування концепту ВІРА у мовомисленні митця.The article is devoted to the study of the concept of FAITH in the idiostyle of V. S. Boyko, as a famous master of the poetic word. The structure of the concept is analyzed. The nuclear, near-nuclear and peripheral zones are highlighted. The artistic and semantic content of micro- concepts is described. The author's position on the existence of a person in the world, as well as individual author's interpretations of the concept of FAITH in the idiostyle of the artist of the poetic word are determined. Whatever paths humanity has taken, this path has always been accompanied by faith. No matter what historical epoch we are talking about, no matter what country we talk about, it is difficult to disagree with the fact that faith has greatly influenced and is influencing the lives of millions of people. And it is not only about faith in higher powers, but also faith in a happy future, faith in yourself, in your people, in the triumph of moral values and the victory of good over evil. Faith is an important spiritual existential value that encourages a person to move on. Accordingly, the study of the linguistic expression of the concept of FAITH will allow to penetrate deeper into the peculiarities of individual language thinking, to determine the author's priority guidelines. Linguistic expression of the concept of FAITH in the poetic linguistics of V. S. Boyko finds in the words faith, to believe, prayer, icon, angel, orthodox, catholic, pagan, saint, temple, church, resurrection, apostle, paradise, cross, mantis, as well as in names of Оrthodox holidays and biblical names, because for the poet is close to the Christian, Orthodox worldview. The poetic picture of the artist's world is broader than dictionary interpretations, so the concept of FAITH acquires a broader artistic and semantic content

Total synthesis of marine terpenoids
No full textComplex architectures of marine terpenoids and vast assortments of their scaffolds have served as a proving ground for synthetic chemists, inspiring them to develop, assess, and test new methodologies and disconnections. Moreover, besides advancing the field of organic synthesis, marine natural products have also had an immense influence on medicinal chemistry providing new chemical leads for further development to combat life-threatening diseases. Accordingly, several promising families of marine terpenoids were identified to explore their chemistry and biology.
The first chapter of this dissertation describes a full account of our synthetic endeavors towards isomalabaricane triterpenoids, natural products discovered 40 years ago in marine sponges of genera Stelleta, Jaspis, Rhabdastrella, and Geodia. Studies showed that these molecules possess valuable biological properties, such as high cytotoxicity, selectivity over non-transformed cells and, hypothetically, a novel mechanism of action. Consequentially, this family of natural products has attracted significant attention from the synthetic community to solve the problem of sustainable supply, and thereby enable further investigation. All attempts however, have failed. Perhaps this is no surprise as the unique structure of isomalabaricanes encompasses highly strained trans-syn- trans perhydrobenz[e]indene core that poses a great challenge. We have been able to develop a series of unconventional transformations to assemble the core architecture in an expedient and enantioselective fashion. To facilitate the development of strategy and completion of the total synthesis, a number of tools at our disposal were utilized, such as computational techniques and a high-throughput screening platform. Enormous strain associated with the core motif manifested itself in various unforeseen reactivities, which could be avoided only upon judicious orchestration of our synthetic manipulations. Finally, our preliminary results reveal non-intuitive importance of the lipophilic core for biological activity, and more in-depth studies will be conducted shortly to assess the therapeutic potential of the isomalabaricane scaffold.
In the second chapter, we identified the perhydrobenz[e]indene core as a highly conserved motif in terpene natural products. This observation allowed us to formulate a concept of a privileged molecular recognition moiety. A two-stage general blueprint was envisioned to access those diverse perhydrobenz[e]indene containing natural products under a unified approach. For that, an originally tailored strategy towards isomalabaricanes was expanded upon and rendered divergent with the incorporation of several bifurcation points. This design allowed us to rapidly assemble scaffolds with all the requisite functionalities for further elaboration into natural products and medicinally relevant compounds.
The third chapter describes four generations of strategies towards another marine cytotoxic terpenoid, ineleganolide. This diterpenoid has been recognized as a flagship member of norcembranoid family of natural products. Its highly congested, stereochemically-rich structure inspired us to develop an unparalleled approach to this target based on a late-stage ring-expansion transform. The direct precursor for the natural product was synthesized, employing a novel Ni(0)-catalyzed pentanulation, underutilized Se-B bifunctional reagent, and chemoselective aldol cyclization as key steps in the sequence. Additionally, this approach is versatile and can be exploited towards other norcembranoids.
