Social, political events and upheavals all around the world in the early 1980's led authors to be sensitive about these issues and to contribute with their works. Those years during which peace was the most popular topic, but when two super powers were seemingly in a competition of armament were the years of highest risk of a third world war. In this study, the story Kassandra, written by a former Eastern German author, Christa Wolf (1929), drawing a lot of attention when published (1983) and bringing numerous awards to its author, will be analyzed. Wolf is an author who has not remained indifferent to the happenings of her period but expressed them in her works. She wrote Kassandra in a period when the cold war became heated and when world peace was seriously threatened. The main theme of the work is the events that marked the 1980's: repressed women and war
Matryca intertekstual’na dramatic poemi of Kassandra of Lesi Ukrainian
Analyzing Lesya Ukrainka’s poetical drama „Kassandra”, the author of
the present paper pays attention to very interesting intertectual references, which
Ukrainian poetess introduced in the outline of the text. Using antique mythology, that
is the myth about Troy’s fall, as the intertectual matrix, Lesya Ukrainka transformed
it according to her own interpretation, taking into consideration the tendencies
appearing in the poetics of modernism, addressing other cultural texts and literary
discourses as well
'The meta-tragic experience of a modern Kassandra': the symbolic revelation of a neo-mystical religion as criticism on moral degeneration in modern culture
Despite the vast research on revisions of ancient myths in early 20th century European literature, the German drama-adaptation (1915) of the Kassandra myth, written by the neoclassical author Paul Ernst (1866-1933), has received only little scholarly interest. This drama presents a complex intermixture of ancient and modern as well as mythical and mystical motives. In my presentation, I intend to critically analyze the symbolical meaning of the mythical Trojan walls in this play in order to demonstrate that while protecting against outside danger (Helena and the Greeks), these high walls simultaneously prevent inner problems from breaking out. The ancient myth, which Ernst rewrites, is thus used, I argue, to criticize the corruption and degeneration of the German ‘Seele’ or ‘Geist’ during World War I. Subsequently, I will discuss the function of the visionary Kassandra, who breaks up with her earthly surroundings and her family inside the walls and whose inner quest for Apollo, an immanent concept of God, symbolically represents the degenerated society’s search for new values. Through the Kassandra myth, I believe, a new religious experience, combining a mystical union and Dionysian self-destruction (Nietzsche), is revealed

Examining the language of empathy in the novel the Kassandra Stamp
The concept of ‘‘empathy language’’ is among the terms that have been used in the fields of psychology and linguistics. This study is important in terms of the field as it focuses on empathy with an interdisciplinary approach. The reason for examining the work in terms of the language of empathy is that there has not been an independent ‘‘empathy language review’’ on the works of Cengiz Aytmatov before and the desire to consider the work from a new perspective by taking advantage of the possibilities of psychology. In line with this research, awareness will be raised about the concept of empathy and empathic expressions. At the same time, the review will help readers to better understand the novel ‘‘Kassandra Damgası’’ by Cengiz Aytmatov, one of the important novelists.
The study consist of three parts. In the first part, after giving information about the life, art and works of Cengiz Aytmatov, the function of the author in the fictional world of novel ‘‘Kassandra Stamp’’ is emphasized. In the second part of the research, general information about the concept of empathy, the language of empathy and the use of empathy language in literary works is given. The third part of the study is the analysis phase. The sentences selected from Cengiz Aytmatov's novel‘‘Kassandra Stamp’’ were examined in terms of empathy language in the language analysis section of the study. Sentences that have data characteristics in terms of empathy language were examined according to the stages in Tarhan’s (2020) empathy level and empathy step classification. The concept of empathy, which is stated to occur in six stages in Tarhan’s empathy step classification: neutrality, unconditional acceptance, displacement, active listener, explaining behaviors, producing solutions and providing guidance has been examined for the first time in terms of providing a positive environment as a new step categorized by Akın and Turhan (2022) within the framework of the concept of ‘‘empathy or mercy from Allah to man’’. The language used during bilateral communication in the fictional text was evaluated for the first time in the context of the adult self level, parents self levet, child self level classified by Dökmen (2018), as well as the divine self level categorized by Akın and Turhan (2022) in the context of the grace approach as a new self language. It is thought that the embryo self level, which was determined as a new self level during the examination, can be added in addition to the self levels categorized by Dökmen and Akın with Turhan. At the evaluation and conclusion stage, as a result of the examination, it was tried to contribute to the subsequent studies by making evaluations about Aytmatov’s writing characteristics and how he processed the language of empathy in his novel ‘‘Kassandra Stamp’’ and what the results mean
