    Habiri and Hebrews

U raspravi o značenju izraza Habiri i Hebreji (Jevreji) nadrabin dr Beno Heisz iznosi nekoliko naučnih mišljenja i istorijskih činjenica o njihovom poreklu. Autor navodi delo Petera Thomsen-a "Pälestina und seine Kultur" in 5. Ovo Thomsenovo mišljenje slede i prof. Gavro Manojlović u svom delu "Povijest staroga Orijenta" i prof. Sović u svom delu "Habiri i Izraelci". In the discussion on the meaning of the terms Habiri and Hebrews (Jews), Dr Rabbi Beno Heisz presents several scientific opinions and historical facts about their origin. In the introductory part, he explains that the general migration of the Semitic people around 2500 BC and the migration of Israelis around 1800. BC changed the face of Asia Minor and brought a new life and a new culture to the Jordan area. The main scene of historical events was Palestine. The Jews and the Philistines, in particular, fought for its appropriation for many years. Palestine has been a crossroads of peoples migrating from the south and the north since ancient times. Experts differ on who they were and where the Hebrews came from and whether they are identical with the Israelites. The Hebrews lived even before Abraham, who made up only one respectable tribe among the other Hebrews. Other Hebrew tribes probably had their headquarters in Canaan, Egypt, and Babylon. Only in this way could the eternal emigration and immigration of the ancient Hebrews be interpreted. The peoples who flooded the old cultural lands in the 15th century BC also started Semitic tribes. Among them, the "Habiri" stood out, who invited certain kings to their country to fight with their neighbours and other enemies. One of the opinions that Dr Heisz analyzes is that these (Habiri) are probably identical with the Hebrews; hence after 1450 p.n.e. the first immigration of the Israelites begins, which ends with the establishment of the kingdom. The author cites the work of Peter Thomsen "Pälestina und seine Kultur" in the 5th Jahrtausende, who believes that the Habirians, Hebrews and Israelis are one and the same people, ie. that in the beginning they were called Habiri, later Hebrews, and finally Israelis. This opinion of Thomsen is followed by prof. Gavro Manojlović in his work "History of the Old Orient" and prof. Sović in his work "Habiri and the Israelis". Although Dr Heisz considers their work significant, he notes that there is no biblical-historical basis and that the claim does not correspond to historical facts. Dr Heisz believes that the identification of Hebrews and Habir is a fictional hypothesis since the old Talmudic source (Gittin, Jebamot, Kiddushin) clearly shows that the Habiri were an ancient Persian people, who were often hostile to the people of Israel or Judah. At the same time, the above-mentioned Talmudic source very nicely describes the religious customs of the "Habir" and their religious ceremonies, which bear no resemblance to the religious customs of the ancient Hebrews

AbstractThe existence of a social choice model on a preference space P is a topological, even homotopical problem. It has been solved 50 years ago, under different terminology, by the author and, a little later, jointly with T. Ganea and P.J. Hilton. P must be an H-space and either contractible or homotopy equivalent to a product of Eilenberg-MacLane spaces over the rationals

Group Work Camp: Rekindling the campfire

Abstract: A group facilitator and retired social worker describes and reflects on experiences, activities and learnings as participant facilitator at three Group Work Camp events. A mechanism through which personal and professional growth occurs using experiential learning is described. The author shares aspects of workshop design, workshop execution, and workshop as intervention, as well as a limit to and successful uses of emergent design. Collaboration and relationship growth across differences when diversity is respected is illustrated, as is the use of song for claiming voice, empowerment and healing. The ability of groups to assist when individuals fear losing or have lost their professional voice through life changes is demonstrated. Impacts occur on various levels: on the individual and interpersonal/interactional levels as the author relates personal insight into Erikson’s developmental stages and interactions with a co-facilitator; on the group/organizational level as the author relates empowerment through song to help rekindle benefits of song around the campfire; and on the societal/community level relating to social justice, generativity across differences and disciplines, international symposia participation and publication. Keywords: group work; experiential learning; nondeliberative; song; empowerment; collaboration; groupwor

Franchising has been gaining influence in the Portuguese economy. The concept of a global economy is increasing progressively, reflecting a world which is becoming interconnected and complex. Furthermore, the movements of commerce, capital, technology and knowledge are the main drivers of the internationalization phenomenon. Franchising can be straightforward to achieve market success, as it uses an existing business model. However, the entry and exit of companies is frequent. Therefore, the aim of this dissertation is to identify the main factors that lead companies to cease their activity. In this sense, the author applies a survival analysis to a dataset of franchised companies in Portugal between 1996 and 2016, using a set of relevant determinants recognized by the economic literature. Basing the study on a dataset which contains a total of 20 variables that will be tested for their significance. Additionally, the author reinforced the range of macroeconomic variables using published reports. The main result of the present research elucidates that the distance between the home country and Portugal, the export capacity of the firm, the initial investment required, the presence in the tertiary sector and the wage growth in the sector anticipate the exit. On the other hand, the growth of the sector and the number of franchised stores postpone the end of economic activity

In this monograph ('From Folk Theatre to Heritage Staging'), the author presents in a modern theoretical and conceptual way the contemporary forms of occurrence, transformation and diversity of folk theatre in Slovenia. She is especially interested in the functions and the role of the selected examples of contemporary folk theatre for various communities. She uses selected examples of contemporary folk theatre and field research to present possible connections between the selected examples and tries to answer the question “Why stage your own heritage?”. Empirically-based research on contemporary folk theatre brings an in-depth analysis of heritage staging up to 2022 and is complemented by fieldwork and interviews. A thoughtful selection of examples has been made in order to show the diversity of contemporary folk theatres, while outlining different approaches and ways of staging cultural heritage. The monograph presents a collection of various examples of contemporary folk theatre in Slovenia, offers insight into one of the possible approaches to researching the theory and content of this sort of folk performances and opens up new questions for further research. In this monograph ('From Folk Theatre to Heritage Staging'), the author presents in a modern theoretical and conceptual way the contemporary forms of occurrence, transformation and diversity of folk theatre in Slovenia.
