d-orthogonality of Little q-Laguerre type polynomials

    No full text
AbstractIn this paper, we solve a characterization problem in the context of the d-orthogonality. That allows us, on one hand, to provide a q-analog for the d-orthogonal polynomials of Laguerre type introduced by the first author and Douak, and on the other hand, to derive new Lq-classical d-orthogonal polynomials generalizing the Little q-Laguerre polynomials. Various properties of the resulting basic hypergeometric polynomials are singled out. For d=1, we obtain a characterization theorem involving, as far as we know, new Lq-classical orthogonal polynomials, for which we give the recurrence relation and the difference equation

An Evolutionary Approach to solve the Dynamic Multi-Hop Ridematching Problem

    No full text
International audienceThe multihop ridesharing system generates a ridematching solution with an arbitrary number of transfers that respects personal preferences of the users and their time constraints with detour willingness. As it is considered to be NP-complete, an efficient metaheuristic is required in the application to solve the dynamic multihop ridematching problem. In this context, a novel approach, called Metaheuristics Approach Based on Controlled Genetic Operators (MACGeO), which is supported by an original dynamic coding, is developed to address the multihop ridematching problem. The performance of the proposed approach is measured via simulation scenarios, which feature various numbers of carpool drivers (vehicles) and riders (passengers). Experimental results show that the multihop ridematching could greatly increase the number of matched requests while minimizing the number of vehicles required. © The Author(s) 2016

Deformed Heisenberg algebra with reflection and dd-orthogonal polynomials

    No full text
summary:This paper is devoted to the study of matrix elements of irreducible representations of the enveloping deformed Heisenberg algebra with reflection, motivated by recurrence relations satisfied by hypergeometric functions. It is shown that the matrix elements of a suitable operator given as a product of exponential functions are expressed in terms of dd-orthogonal polynomials, which are reduced to the orthogonal Meixner polynomials when d=1d=1. The underlying algebraic framework allowed a systematic derivation of the recurrence relations, difference equation, lowering and rising operators and generating functions which these polynomials satisfy

Automorphisms of Algebras and Bochner's Property for Vector Orthogonal Polynomials

    No full text
We construct new families of vector orthogonal polynomials that have the property to be eigenfunctions of some differential operator. They are extensions of the Hermite and Laguerre polynomial systems. A third family, whose first member has been found by Y. Ben Cheikh and K. Douak is also constructed. The ideas behind our approach lie in the studies of bispectral operators. We exploit automorphisms of associative algebras which transform elementary vector orthogonal polynomial systems which are eigenfunctions of a differential operator into other systems of this type. This paper is a contribution to the Special Issue on Orthogonal Polynomials, Special Functions and Applications. The full collection is available at http://www.emis.de/journals/SIGMA/OPSFA2015.html. s The author is deeply grateful to Boris Shapiro for showing and discussing some examples of systems of polynomials studied here and in particular the examples from [33]. Without this probably the project would have never be even started. Also Plamen Iliev made valuable comments on some results generalizing Laguerre polynomials, which helped me to place my work among the rest of the research. Milen Yakimov pointed out several errors. Many thanks go to the referees and the editor who pointed out a number of incorrect formulas and misprints and thus helped me to improve considerably the initial text. No full text
Predictive maintenance (PDM) is emerging as a strong transformative tool within Industry 4.0, enabling significant improvements in the sustainability and efficiency of manufacturing processes. This in-depth literature review, which follows the PRISMA 2020 framework, examines how PDM is being implemented in several areas of the manufacturing industry, focusing on how it is taking advantage of technological advances such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). The presented in-depth evaluation of the technological principles, implementation methods, economic consequences, and operational improvements based on academic and industrial sources and new innovations is performed. According to the studies, integrating CDM can significantly increase machine uptime and reliability while reducing maintenance costs. In addition, the transition to PDM systems that use real-time data to predict faults and plan maintenance more accurately holds out promising prospects. However, there are still gaps in the overall methodologies for measuring the return on investment of PDM implementations, suggesting an essential research direction. The authors are grateful to the Foundation for Science and Tech- nology (FCT, Portugal) for financial support through national funds FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC) to CeDRI (UIDB/05757/2020 and UIDP/05757 /2020) and SusTEC (LA/P/0007/2021). Influence of Conservation Agriculture on Durum Wheat Grain, Dough Texture Profile and Pasta Quality in a Mediterranean Region

    No full text
There is a growing interest in the Mediterranean regions to switch to conservation agriculture (CA) to address climate change and soil deterioration issues. The novelty of this study lies in the quality of the supply chain, from the raw material (durum wheat grain) to the ready-to-sell product (spaghetti), under long-term CA, and using two varieties over two years of study. This study aims to investigate the impact of two soil management systems (SM) (CA after 10/11 (since 2009–2010) years switching vs. conventional tillage (CT)) on grain quality, dough texture profile, and pasta quality of two Tunisian durum wheat varieties (Karim and Monastir) in a 2-year-long experiment (2019 and 2020). The results showed that the SM had a significant impact on the grain quality in both years in terms of protein content and wet gluten, which were, respectively, lower under CA (11.92% vs. 11.15% for protein content) and (18.75% vs. 17.68% for wet gluten) in the wet year. These parameters increased in the dry year but they were higher under CA (15.70% vs. 14.42 ± 0.94% for protein content) and (26.00% vs. 23.20% for wet gluten). These results have, in turn, affected the dough quality (springiness, chewiness, and cohesiveness) and pasta cooking time and decreased the pasta cooking loss and water absorption index. In terms of the variety (V) factor, “Karim” variety in the dry year had a higher protein content and better dough quality than “Monastir” variety, and it reduced the pasta cooking time. In addition, the pasta yellow index (b*) from grains grown under CA was always higher than those in the CT system (23.99 vs. 19.72% and 25.24 vs. 22.19% in 2019 and 2020, respectively). The interaction between SM and V was significant in both years only for the dough hardness and pasta b* parameters. In conclusion, long-term CA may be a crucial solution in the dry season to promote food quality and achieve sustainable agriculture goals

Focal liver hyperplasia in a patient with Alagille syndrome: Diagnostic difficulties. A case report

    No full text
AbstractIntroductionAlagille syndrome is a multisystem autosomal disorder. The main clinical features are chronic cholestasis due to paucity of intrahepatic bile ducts, which can progress to cirrhosis and liver failure.Presentation of caseA 15 year-old girl with Alagille syndrome was referred for liver transplantation. She developed severe cirrhosis with refractory ascites. In the pre-transplant evaluation, imaging studies disclosed liver atrophy with a high density pseudotumor in the segment 4, raising the possibility of a hepatocellular carcinoma. However, behavior of the lesion was highly suggestive of focal compensatory hyperplasia surrounded by an atrophic liver. The patient was registered on the waiting list.DiscussionHepatic lesions have been described in Alagille syndrome in isolated case reports, and most of these have been reported to be hepatocellular carcinoma. However, they can be related to an area of focal compensatory hyperplasia in severe cirrhosis. These findings may also explain why progression of liver disease occurs only in 15% of patients.ConclusionThe presence of a large hepatic nodule Alagille syndrome can be benign in these patients also predisposed to hepatocellular carcinoma. Therefore, cautious evaluation with magnetic resonance imaging study before liver transplantation is mandatory
