Prilozi za biografiju hrvatskog političara Josipa Torbara
This paper portrays certain aspects of the activity of one of the champions of CFP (hrv. HSS), Josip Torbar, from the time he entered politics until the day he died. The author attempts to connect previous knowledge on Josip Torbar available in literature with facts of published and unpublished sources. Given the fact that this paper only reconstructs a portion of the data on the activity of Josip Torbar, it is necessary to warn readers about the need for further research.U radu se prikazuju odabrani aspekti djelovanja jednog od prvaka HSS-a Josipa Torbara od njegovog ulaska u politiku do smrti. Autor pokušava povezati ranije poznate spoznaje o Josipu Torbaru dobivene iz literature s činjenicama iz objavljenih i neobjavljenih izvora.
Archaeobotanical findings in graves from the prehistoric site Kaptol-Gradci near Požega
Pr. Kr.). Iz 27 uzoraka, izdvojeno je 24017 biljnih makrofosila
(sjemenki, pšena, pljevi, plodova). Uzorci su prikupljani tijekom 2006. i 2007. godine.
Najbrojniji su nalazi žitarica (Triticum aestivum, Triticum dicoccum, Trticium monococcum,
Triticum spelta, Avena sativa, Hordeum vulgare, Panicum miliaceum, Secale cereale). U
manjim količinama pronađene su korovne primjese usjeva i korisne samonikle biljke. Biljni
U radu
je napravljena usporedba nalaza tumula 10 s ostalim arheobotaničkim nalazima s lokaliteta
Kaptol-Gradci i usporedba s ostalim željeznodobnim lokalitetima u Hrvatskoj i susjednim
zemljama. In this paper the carbonized plant remains are analyzed from tumulus 10 from archeological
site Kaptol-Gradci near Požega. The site dates back to the early Iron Age (Hallstatt era, Ha C1,
beginning of 7 century BC). From 27 samples, 24017 plant macrofossils were examined (seeds,
millets, chaffs, fruits). Samples were taken in 2006 and 2007 The most numerous were cereals
(Triticum aestivum, Triticum dicoccum, Trticium monococcum, Triticum spelta, Avena sativa,
Hordeum vulgare, Panicum miliaceum, Secale cereale). In small quantities were found weeds
admixture crops and useful wild plants. The plant remains were found inside the burning grave
along with pottery fragments and traces of soot. In paper was also maid comparation between
findings from tumulus 10 and other archeobotanical findings from site Kaptol-Gradci. Also, it
was maid comapration with other Iron Age sites in Croatiaandneighboringcountries
O jeziku kajkavskih dramskih tekstova Josipa Kovačevića
The paper analyses the language of the Kajkavian drama works published in Dramska djela (2003) by Josip Kovačević (1936). The analysis will show the extent to wich author’s modern Kajkavian literary language includes diachrony (knowledge of the language of old Kajkavian literature) and synchrony (contemporary Turopolje speeches, especially the Buševec speech, whose author is the native speaker).U radu se analizira jezik dramskih tekstova Josipa Kovačevića (1936. g.) objavljenih u knjizi Dramska djela iz 2003. Analiza će pokazati u kojoj mjeri autorov suvremeni kajkavski književni jezik uključuje dijakroniju (poznavanje jezika stare kajkavske književnosti) i sinkroniju (suvremene turopoljske govore, pogotovo buševski govor, čiji je autor izvorni govornik)
Mladost vrhbosanskog nadbiskupa Josipa Stadlera
On the basis of archival and published sources the author researched the family origins, childhood and education of the first Archbishop of Vrhobosnia, Josip Stadler (1843-1918). The author concludes that Sadler's formative years were greatly influenced by the fact that he was brought up in the atmosphere of the Church's institutions, developing from these his own views on contemporary social, cultural and political events. The germanization of the administrative and educational system during the period of neoabsolutism (1851-1860) rendered him especially sensitive to the threat this posed to Croatian national and cultural identity. The period of Stadler's studies in Rome, the 1860s, was characterized by anti-Concordat politics in the Habsburg Monarchy and other European states as well as by secularization in the areas of education and marriage law, which curtailed the influence of the Church in society. Understanding that contemporary secularization processes had their origins in liberal political ideologies, Stadler assumed a negative stance towards liberalism, including that brand of liberalism that was developing within the framework of the Catholic Church. His theological instruction was guided by neoscholasticism; his work later in life would reveal this through religious traditionalism and the belief that the Catholic Church had a special mission in the lives of the Croat people.Autor je istražio porijeklo, dječaštvo, mladost i školovanje prvoga vrhbosanskog nadbiskupa Josipa Stadlera, do njegova povratka sa studija u Rimu 1869. godine. Rad je utemeljen na do sada neobjavljenim izvorima, te na objavljenim izvorima i postojećoj literaturi. Predstavlja sintezu postojećih spoznaja, ali donosi i neke potpuno nove podatke koji proširuju opseg spoznaja o mladenačkom razdoblju Stadlerova djelovanja i omogućuju oblikovanje cjelovitijih spoznaja o njegovom kasnijem djelovanju
Social equity and marine protected areas: Perceptions of small-scale fishermen in the Mediterranean Sea
Global conservation marine and coastal policies and strategies require the scaling up of effectively and equitably managed networks of marine protected areas (MPAs). While progress has been made on spatial coverage, the fundamental aspects of organization, effectiveness and equity are falling short. Past research has focused on management effectiveness in MPAs, but less attention has been given to social equity though it is an ethical imperative and instrumental to conservation. This study assessed the perceptions of SSF regarding recognitional, procedural and distributional dimensions of social equity using quantitative surveys in 11 MPAs across 6 countries on the Mediterranean Sea. To do so, we developed individual indicators from which we created composite scores for recognitional, procedural, and distributional equity, and a combined social equity score. Overall, descriptive results showed that SSF perceptions of social equity were quite varied but slightly skewed towards positive perceptions. Then, we developed predictive models to analyze the effects of geographic (i.e., MPA and country) and individual (i.e., SSF demographics and characteristics) factors on the composite social equity scores. All social equity scores differed significantly between MPAs. Being an older fisher was associated with a decrease in recognitional equity, while having a higher level of relative wealth or more diversified livelihoods was associated with higher scores for distributional equity. These results point to the need for tailored management actions to improve equity in different MPA sites and for different groups. This paper presents a novel quantitative method for using stakeholder perceptions to examine social equity that might be applied to marine and terrestrial conservation initiatives elsewhere
Death and glory: Hallstatt burial customs from the archaeobotanical perspective of the necropolises at Kaptol (Croatia)
Archaeobotanical analysis of 17 Kaptol tumuli has resulted in 46,829 identified carbonized botanical remains. Cereals are convincingly dominant in the processed material, and we also find fruits, legumes and weeds, which are probably a standard admixture of cereals. All the finds processed in this paper come from grave contexts, but they are not grave goods, but rather arrived in the graves during the sprinkling of the surface of the burial chamber with burnt remains from the pyre or with the remains of the deceased in urns. This fact indicates a much greater importance of ritual cremation in the funeral ritual than previously assumed, because we know that many valuable contributions were found with the body of the deceased on the pyre, sometimes including the most valued among cereals: wheat. Analysis of the quantity and type of botanical finds in the graves also showed a significant correlation with gender. That is, although male graves generally outnumber female graves in terms of the number of botanical finds, the most noticeable difference is the large quantity of cereals in male graves in comparison with the insignificant number of finds in female graves. Another interesting fact is that the only grave (tumulus 13 at the Gradca necropolis) attributed to a child by preliminary anthropological analysis does not contain any cereals at all, but does have a significant quantity of fruit and nuts
Titova lična diplomatija: studije i dokumentarni prilozi

The Glocal World of Fairy Tales
This is a book review of "Mixed Magic: Global-local Dialogues in Fairy Tales for Young Readers" by Anna Katrina Gutierrez. The book was published in 2017 by John Benjamins Publishing Company. The author compares several retellings of the same stories (for example, Beauty and the Beast) in order to see the influence of globalisation on the stories and their adaptations in local surroundings. Encompassing famous fairy tales, anime films, local stories and fables, her research examines how these narratives are shaped by the culture they belong to and how they are adapted to other cultures
