A BIOPOLÍTICA EM CAMPANHAS DE VACINAÇÃO CONTRA A COVID-19: UMA ANÁLISE SOBRE O DISCURSO CIENTÍFICO NO INSTAGRAM DA PREFEITURA MUNICIPAL DE JOÃO PESSOA
The pandemic caused by the coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) that generates the disease
COVID-19, began in China in December 2019 and broke out in the world in early 2020,
generating a state of alert in Brazil in March. To combat the disease, vaccines were
developed, but not everyone could get vaccinated on a large scale due to the delay in
purchasing and distributing them. In the face of this, we went through another pandemic,
that of misinformation. Therefore, it was necessary to have a vaccination campaign that
would indicate, every day, which group of people could get vaccinated in order of priority.
Based on this contextualization, our work, of qualitative-interpretative nature, aimed to
make a discursive analysis about the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 disclosed in
the profile of the social network Instagram, belonging to the city hall of João Pessoa -
Paraíba (https://www.instagram.com/prefjoaopessoa/). For this, we used the theoretical
assumptions of Discourse Analysis, especially in the wake of Michel Foucault (1997;
2004; 2005; 2008; 2010; 2014; 2019), Eni Orlandi (2009), Cleudemar Alves Fernandes
(2008), Jean-Jacques Courtine (2013), Pedro Navarro (2003), among others. Our analysis
showed us that the campaign broadcasted in this Instagram profile comprises a device - a
biopolitics - present in a control society that uses verbo-visual elements to ratify scientific,
political, media and advertising discourses. Thus, the mayor of João Pessoa propagates a
positive image about vaccines by talking to the population in a lighter and less technical
way, and thus receives their support, demonstrated both in the act of getting vaccinated and
sharing posts about vaccination in the city, as well as posting photos during vaccination or
(1997; 2004; 2005; 2008; 2010; 2014; 2019), Eni Orlandi (2009), Cleudemar Alves
Fernandes (2008), Jean-Jacques Courtine (2013), Pedro Navarro (2003), dentre outros.
Based on the assumptions of French Discourse Analysis, especially in the wake of Foucault (2004; 2016), Courtine (2013; 2020), Charaudeau (2006; 2016), among other theorists, the article aims to problematize the effects of meaning constituted in war photojournalism. More specifically, we analyzed an article published on April 19, 2024, on the Brasil 247 portal, based on a photograph awarded by the 2024 World Press Photo of the Year, captured by Mohammed Salem, from Reuters. In the image it is possible to see a Palestinian aunt hugging her dead niece. Such a scene promotes an interdiscursivity with other historical images and directly reaches the field of emotions of subjects who identify with the Palestinian cause. Our analysis allowed us to conclude that Mohammed Salem\u27s photograph can be seen as an instrument of denunciation of extreme violence in that territory, but it also leads us to conclude that its space of circulation in the progressive media configures a discourse of resistance in favor of the Palestinian cause. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
Educational policies have undergone significant transformations according to government models in dialogue with social demands. In the field of discourse studies, the contributions of theorists who invite us to rethink our practice as formative subjects are emblematic, because "what is a teaching system if not a ritualization of the word [...] if not the constitution of a doctrinal group at least diffuse?" (Foucault, 2000. p. 44). In the light of Discourse Analysis, in the wake of theorists such as Pêcheux, Foucault, Courtine, among other articulators of discourse in contemporary social practices, our article comprises a report of an experience lived in a public school in Fortaleza/CE in an 8th grade class of elementary school. Following the guidelines of the BNCC and other guiding documents, we used the podcast genre in which we provoke a reflection on a complex theme present in the daily practice of students – the issue of bullying. Therefore, we seek an alignment of essential concepts such as: subject, power, discipline and their applications in teaching. We consider, therefore, that the teaching processes function as disciplinary devices, but that they should have as their main objective the continuous exercise of citizenship formation of the subject in the full process of development.

koamabayili/VECTRON-author-checklist: VECTRON author checklist
We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
