A key site for inferring the timing of dispersal of giant deer in Sardinia, the Su Fossu de Cannas cave, Sadali, Italy
Su Fossu de Cannas (SFC) cave is one of several known cavities in the Sadali plateau in Sardinia, Italy. The
evolution of the cave is the result of complex erosional and deposital processes that occurred during the
Neogene and Quaternary. A fossiliferous cemented conglomerate, containing various deer remains, now
forms the ceiling of a cavity (tunnel). The faunal remains belong to a large cervid, which show some
morphological affinity with large deer that have an endemic Sardinian lineage (Praemegaceros sardous
ePraemegaceros cazioti). Palaeoecological data based on some peculiar features and the large size of the
SFC deer suggest that it is the most primitive Megacerine found in Sardinia to date, and the first
representative of the endemic lineage. The 450 ka UeTh age for the flowstone capping the fossiliferous
layer defines: the end of sedimentation in which Sadali deer remains are preserved; and the dispersal
from the mainland of the ancestor of the endemic Sardinian Megacerini. Stratigraphic and micromorphological
analyses of the cave deposits allow the reconstruction of the timing of the cave's development
throughout the Pliocene to the Holocene
This article traces the dramaturgical journey of the Anglo-Kuwaiti author and artist Sulayman Al Bassam, whose work is inhabited by a Levant grappling with the turmoil that followed the Sykes-Picot Agreement. His second company, SABAB Theatre, founded after the September 11 2001 attacks, is engaged in a long critical process, both endogenous and exogenous, which began with the creation of a first Shakespearean trilogy viewed through an Arab lens. Orientalism and the colonialism of Western powers occupy a place in his work as significant as censorship, dictatorship, and patriarchy in Arab societies. His work continuously engages with both regional and international current events
Corporate Boards and Ownership Structure as Antecedents of Corporate Governance Disclosure in Saudi Arabian Publicly Listed Corporations
We investigate whether and to what extent publicly listed corporations voluntarily comply with and disclose recommended good corporate governance (CG) practices, and distinctively examine whether the observed cross-sectional differences in such CG disclosures can be explained by ownership and board mechanisms with specific focus on Saudi Arabia. Our results suggest that corporations with larger boards, a big-four auditor, higher government ownership, a CG committee and higher institutional ownership disclose considerably more than those that are not. By contrast, we find that an increase in block ownership significantly reduces CG disclosure. Our results are generally robust to a number of econometric models that control for different types of disclosure indices, firm-specific characteristics and firm-level fixed-effects. Our results have important implications for policy-makers, practitioners and regulatory authorities, especially those in developing countries across the globe

A first set of speleothems (stalagmites and flow stone s) from the Chauvet Cave (Ardèche, southern France) were dated using U/Th and 14C mass spectrométrie methods. At the same time, stable isotope analyses (δ13C and δ18O) were done on several stalagmites and on seepage water and rainfall (δ18O and δD). These results give the following information: firstly, accurate ages of several geomorphological events that have marked the cave's history since 34 kyr and, secondly, precisions concerning the climatic evolution in this area since the last déglaciation. Thus, several events have been recorded and dated: the last déglaciation, the B0lling- Allerød (BA) and the Younger Dryas (YD). A warm and short climatic event was detected during the YD itself around 12.15 kyrs. The Chauvet Cave speleothems appear to be exceptional recorders of continental palaeoenvironmental variations similar, in time resolution and in climate sensitivity, to ice, marine or lake records for the same period, with the advantage of an absolute chronology. Genty Dominique, Blamart Dominique, Ghaleb Bassam. U-Series isotopes analytical results (U & Th) on core PS2757-6 (MUC)
Core PS2757-6 was retrieved with a multicorer (MUC) on the Lomonosov Ridge next to the Russian continental shelf during the Polarstern expedition ARK-XI/1 in 1995. This expedition had the principal aim to study material fluxes and ecological connections between the Arctic Deep Basins and the adjacent Siberian shelf seas, the northern Laptev Sea and the northeastern Kara Sea. In 2018 and 2019, this core had samples analyzed by MC-ICPMS at the Geotop-UQAM laboratories for uranium-series isotopes with the aim to establish radiochronological age constraints for the coring location
