Translating Racial Slurs: A Comparative Analysis of Gran Torino Assessing Transfer of Offensive Language between English and Italian.
This dissertation focuses on the role played by translations in constructing a cultural product. It chooses the American film 'Gran Torino' (2008) as its source text and discusses the ideological and cultural implications of rendering racial slurs from English into Italian. The dissertation therefore sets the analysis against a backdrop of contemporary North American and European culture understood in linguistic and behavioural patterns and questions the role of audiovisual translational norms in the source culture and tasks of translators in general when dealing with such highly sensitive, culture-bound issues pertaining to the meaning transfer of lingua-cultural taboos. The comparative analysis of the audiovisual texts takes a Critical Discourse perspective, with a strong ideological focus on the possible translation effects

GERD (Gastroesphageal Reflux Disease) and Oral Manifestations
Introduction: Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is “a condition which develops when the reflux of stomach contents causes troublesome symptoms and/or complications”. The prevalence of GERD has increased in the last years and currently it is one of the most ordinary chronic disorders, with a great variety of symptoms and various degrees of severity. Objectives: to describe the most common oral lesions associated to GERD in both hard and soft tissues, focusing as well on their management and on a possible relationship between GERD and bruxism. Methodology: a bibliographic research of biomedical literature published between 2010 and 2021 was performed using PubMed and Medline, resulting in 32 scientific articles. Discussion of results: there is a great amount of evidence proving that dental erosion is a considerable manifestation of GERD in the oral cavity. With regard to mucosal lesions and bruxism, the literature suggests an association to GERD. Despite this, the available information is insufficient to establish a proper connection. Conclusion: erosive tooth wear is a confirmed oral manifestation of GERD, while the relationships with soft tissue lesions and bruxism require further investigations. It is clear that the dentist plays a key role in the diagnosis of GERD and, as such, will need to cooperate with the patient’s family doctor/gastroenterologist so that both a complete and long-lasting treatment will be provided.

Processes, information, and accounting gaps in the regulation of Argentina's private railways
Almost a decade after Argentina began privatizing its railways, resolution of conflicts between regulators, users, and operators continues to take longer, and to be more difficult, than expected. The authors contend that many of these conflicts arose because there are no rules for interactions between the key stakeholders: government, regulators, users, unions, and the media. One result of inexperience in setting up concession agreement has been that the agreements did not clearly define the information needed for oversight and regulation. Argentine rail concession contracts were supposed to be specific about the way tariffs, quality, investment, exclusivity, and so on, would change over time. And the newly created regulatory bodies were given some discretion about adjusting the contracts in the face of unforeseen developments. However, initial privatization were carried out in such a way that there was no time to refine terms, so many loopholes remained. Those unforeseen events have happened, and the regulatory agency, the National Commission for Transport Regulation (CNRT), has had to adapt its procedures and decisions to available information. In some cases, alleged modifications of the operating environment have led to renegotiations. Changes have been introduced in the approach to furnishing information to the government for oversight and regulatory accounting. The changes center on clearer definitions in connection with four major issues: a) The measurement of efficiency; b) access prices; and c) the financial model. Circumstances in the Argentine rail industry early in 2001 did not favor dramatic changes, but current renegotiations could be used to adjust information requirements to reflect what has been learned through six yearsof experience.Environmental Economics&Policies,Knowledge Economy,Labor Policies,Decentralization,Financial Intermediation,Environmental Economics&Policies,Financial Intermediation,Banks&Banking Reform,Education for the Knowledge Economy,Knowledge Economy

Protecting the Nile : Egypt’s crisis exploitation of the GERD crisis (2011-2021)
This thesis analyses the framing and exploitation of the ‘water security’ crisis triggered in Egypt by the construction the Gran Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) during the period of its construction (2011-2021). Through the analysis of members of the executive statements, policy documents, and actions on the ground, this study contributes to crisis exploitation theory by pointing at other categories that had allowed for policy change, such as funding and the influence of international organizations. This study shows that policy change allowed President al-Sisi to appear as the protector of the Nile, while Egypt came to position itself as an African leader in water management and environmental governance
