Karakterisasi dan Seleksi 139 Galur Kentang
<p>Characterization and Selection of 139 Potato Lines. One of the ways of increasing genetic variability in potato is interspecific hybridization to obtain new potato lines. This lines should then be characterized and used to obtain new breeding materials for potato breeding program. A total of 139 potato lines were planted at Cibodas-Lembang (1,300 m asl), from June 2004 to October 2004 without replication with population number of 5 plants per line. The result showed that (1) Generally the planted lines were round tuber shape (61.9%), yellow skin (98.6%), shallow eyes (71.2%), and light tuber weight per plant (89.2%); (2) 18 potato lines were selected as new breeding materials (13%).</p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Salah satu cara untuk menciptakan keragaman genetik pada tanaman kentang adalah melalui hibridisasi antarspesies. Selanjutnya dilakukan karakterisasi galur yang dihasilkan. Diharapkan hasil karakterisasi dapat digunakan sebagai materi dalam perakitan varietas baru. Penanaman galur kentang hasil hibridisasi dilakukan di Cibodas, Lembang (1.300 m dpl), pada bulan Juni-Oktober 2004. Jumlah materi yang ditanam sebanyak 139 galur kentang, tanpa ulangan, dengan jumlah populasi sebanyak lima tanaman per galur. Hasil karakterisasi menunjukkan bahwa (1) secara umum galur yang ditanam mempunyai umbi berbentuk bulat (61,9%), berwarna kuning (98,6%), mata dangkal (71,2%), dan bobot umbi ringan (89,2%); (2) sebanyak 18 galur (13%) terpilih untuk digunakan sebagai materi pemuliaan lebih lanjut.</p></jats:p
A promising breeding strategy for tomato resistance to
Infection of CMV can reduce tomato yield. One of the controlling methods to solve the problem by using a resistant variety. However, the existence of resistant variety was still not available yet. Therefore, we needed the breeding program for resistance tomato to CMV to obtain a new variety. Information of previous genetic analysis results can be used to determine a promising strategy. Two tomato genotypes namely R8 51-12 as resistant and RG-57 as susceptible accession were crossed reciprocally to obtain F1, F1R, BC1.1, BC1.2, F2. Then, all of the breeding materials were inoculated by strain CMV-2 and observed on symptom disease and virus concentration. Genetic analysis results showed that there was no maternal effect and the resistance controlled by two major genes as recessive, but there was the epistatic effect on disease symptom as a selection parameter. Based on these information, the tomato’s breeding strategy were to use a susceptible genotype as female parent, while a resistant genotype as male parent. Phenotypically disease symptom selection can be conducted in the middle or late generation. However, the selection should be supported by serologically using the Elisa test. The breeding program could be addressed as a F1 hybrid variety

Pengaruh tumpangsari cabai dan tomat terhadap perkembangan hama utama dan hasil cabai (Capsicum annuum L.)
Tumpangsari cabai dan tomat merupakan salah satu sistem kultur teknis dalam pengendalian hama terpadu. Tujuan penelitian untuk mendapatkan sistem penanaman cabai yang paling tepat dalam menekan perkembangan hama utama dan meningkatkan hasil cabai. Penelitian dilakukan di Balitsa. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan April sampai dengan Desember 2018, metode percobaan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok diulang empat kali dengan perlakuan: (A). Cabai dan tomat ditanam bersamaan (B). Tomat ditanam satu minggu setelah cabai (C). Tomat ditanam dua minggu setelah cabai (D). Tomat ditanam tiga minggu setelah cabai (E). Cabai ditanam monokroping tanpa menggunakan mulsa plastik hitam perak (F). Cabai monokroping dengan menggunakan mulsa plastik hitam perak. Hasil penelitian: Tumpangsari cabai dan tomat berpengaruh baik dalam menekan populasi kutu daun 14,65%-48,91%, kutu kebul 18,30%-27,16%, trips 11%-41,44%, dan dapat meningkatkan hasil cabai 90%-127% dibandingkan cabai monokroping dan 10%-31% cabai monokroping dengan mulsa plastik hitam perak. Implikasi dari hasil penelitian sistem tanam tumpangsari cabai dan tomat dapat menghambat perkembangan populasi hama utama cabai karena dapat bersifat sebagai barrier dan repellen. The study aimed to find the most appropriate chilli planting system to suppress the development of major pests and increase chilli yields. The research was conducted at the IVEGRI. The study was conducted from April to December 2018, and the experimental method using an RBD was repeated four times. Treatments: (A). Chilli and tomato planted together (B). Tomatoes were planted one week after chilli (C). Tomatoes are planted two weeks after chilli (D). Tomatoes are planted three weeks after chilli. (E). The chilli was grown monocrop without silver black mulch (F). Chilli was grown monocrop with silver black mulch. The results: Chilli and tomato intercropping had a good effect on suppressing aphids population 14,65%-48,91%, white flying 18,30%-27,16%, trips 11%-41,44%, and could increase chilli yields 90%-127% compared to monocropped chilli and 10%-31% monocropped chilli with silver black mulch. The implications of the research results on chilli and tomato intercropping systems can inhibit the development of the main pest population of chilli because they act as a barrier and repellant. Estimasi aksi dan jumlah gen dalam ketahanan tanaman tomat terhadap CMV=Estimation of Action and Number of The Gene in Resistance on Tomato to CMV
One method of controlling CMV infection on tomato was using on cultivar resistant. However, existence of cultivar resistant was not available yet in the field, until breeding program for resistance on tomato to CMV was needed to solve the problem. To determine well strategy, mode of inheritance resistance to CMV on tomato was suggested for studying it before, especially in action and number of the gene controlling resistance. Two accessions (LV-4491 and LV-2257) were crossed each other to get generations of F,, F]R, BCn, BCn, and Fr Then all of breeding material were inoculated by CMV-2 and observed on disease index and titer virus. Result of research showed that gene for resistance was controlled by 2 recessive major genes. There was effected by recessive duplicate epistasis in the disease index, that expressed by genetic components of additive [a], dominance [d], and interaction dominance-dominance [ddj. In the titer virus there was effected by semi epistasis of genetic components of additive [a] and dominance [d].

Respons Tanaman Bawang Merah Asal Biji True Shallot Seeds Terhadap Kerapatan Tanaman Pada Musim Hujan
Kerapatan tanaman merupakan salah satu faktor yang dapat memengaruhi produksi umbi bawang merah asal true shallots seed (TSS) pada musim hujan (off-season). Tujuan penelitian ialah menentukan kerapatan tanaman yang sesuai untuk produksi umbi beberapa varietas bawang merah dari TSS. Penelitian dilakukan di lahan petani di dataran rendah Cirebon, dari bulan November 2010 sampai dengan Februari 2011. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan ialah acak kelompok pola faktorial, dengan dua faktor dan empat ulangan. Faktor pertama ialah tanaman asal TSS beberapa varietas bawang merah, yaitu Allium ascalonicum cv. Maja, Bima, dan Tuk-Tuk sebagai pembanding. Faktor kedua ialah kerapatan tanaman, yaitu 100 dan 150 tanaman per m2. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak terjadi interaksi antara varietas dan kerapatan tanaman terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil umbi bawang merah asal TSS. Varietas dan kerapatan tanaman tidak berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil umbi bawang merah asal TSS, tetapi berpengaruh terhadap jumlah tanaman yang dapat dipanen umbinya. Varietas Tuk-Tuk sebagai pembanding dan kerapatan tanaman yang tinggi (150 tanaman per m2) menunjukkan jumlah tanaman yang dapat dipanen paling sedikit. Hasil umbi kering asal TSS paling tinggi diperoleh pada A. ascalonicum cv. varietas Maja dengan kerapatan 100 tanaman/m2, yaitu sebesar 5,15 t/ha. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan bermanfaat bagi pengguna untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan kualitas umbi bawang merah pada musim hujan
Effect of phytohormone and seed density toward growth, disease and bulb yield of True Shallot Seeds
Shallot can be propagated generatively in the form True Seed of Shallot (TSS). The research purpose was to study phytohormone and sown seed density's effect on growth, disease, and bulbs yield. The research was conducted at Indonesian Vegetables Research Institute (1,250 m asl), Lembang-West Java, from August 2017 until April 2018. The research used a factorial randomized completely block design with two factors repeated three times. The first factor was kind of phytohormone (A1 = BAP, A2 = NAA, A3 = GA3, A4 = control) and the second factor was the sown seed density (B1 = 5 g/m2, B2 = 7 g/m2, B3 = 9 g/m2). The result showed that: Phytohormone application did not affect germination and growth of TSS, living plant number, and bulb yield. The best-sown seed density to plant growth was 7 g seeds/m2. Elisa’s test result did not detect the viruses as seed-borne diseases such as SYSV, OYDV, or LYSV. The intensity of disease symptoms Alternaria porri (11%), Stemphylium vesicatorium, Colletotrichum gleosporiodes, and Peronospora destructor each (12%). Induced Mutation by Gamma Rays Irradiation to Increase Chilli Resistance to Begomovirus
Begomovirus infection has a significant impact of lowering chilli yield in Indonesia. A constraint of narrow genetic variability of chilli in Indonesia has made the mutation breeding program as a solution worth-pursuing in increasing the genetic variability. The objective of this study was to determine the LD50 point for each of the five irradiated chilli genotypes and the optimum dose of gamma irradiation in inducing chilli resistance to Begomovirus and other improved agronomical traits. The study was conducted in the Indonesian Vegetable Research Institute (IVEGRI) at Cikole-Lembang, elevation 1,200 m above sea level, from March to December 2013. Split plot design was used with genotype as main factor (Kencana, Lembang-1, SSP, Tanjung 2, Seloka) and irra-diation dosage as sub-factor (0, 200, 400, 600, 800 Gy). All treatments were replicated three times. The results showed that LD50 points of the five irradiated chilli genotypes were in the range of 422.64-629.68 Gy. There were some chilli genotypes in the population of M2 that had high coefficient variance genetic (CVG) and broad sense heritability (h2bs) value for disease incu-bation time. This could be used as resistance parameter to Begomovirus and improvement parameter of several agronomical traits
