What do we actually mean by talent in business? Does it really matter?
[spa] La conceptuación de talento ha ido cobrando cada vez más importancia tanto para académicos como profesionales, con el fin de avanzar en el estudio de la gestión del talento. De hecho, la confusión sobre el significado de talento en la realidad empresarial impide llegar a un consenso sobre el concepto y la práctica de la gestión del talento. En este estudio teórico revisamos el concepto de talento en el mundo de la empresa con el fin de resumir lo que hemos aprendido y discutir las ventajas y limitaciones de las diferentes acepciones. Concluimos con la formulación de una definición de este concepto, ya que una correcta interpretación de la gestión del talento—por no hablar de una exitosa gestión del talento— depende de tener una comprensión clara de lo que se entiende por talento en un contexto organizativo. Además, con la definición de talento propuesta delimitamos el concepto de talento evitando algunos problemas detectados en las definiciones anteriores (por ejemplo, generalidades y tautologías), y poniendo de relieve las variables importantes que le afectan y lo hacen más manejable.[eng] The conceptualization of talent has become increasingly relevant for scholars and practitioners as they seek to advance the study of talent management (TM). Indeed, confusion about the meaning of talent within the business field hinders consensus on the concept and practice of TM. In this theoretical study we review the talent concept in business to summarize what we have learned and to discuss the pros and cons of different approaches. We conclude by formulating an overall definition of this term, since an acknowledged interpretation of talent management—not to mention the successful management of talent— will depend on having a clear understanding of what is meant by talent in an organizational context. Moreover, with our definition of talent, we delimit the talent concept while avoiding problems uncovered in previous definitions (e.g. generality and tautology) and highlighting important variables that affect it and can make it more manageable
Síntese de cristais líquidos discóticos derivados do núcleo trifenol tris-[1,2,4]-triazolo-[1,3,5]-triazina
Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Ciências Físicas e Matemáticas, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Química, Florianópolis, 2014.Neste trabalho é descrito o planejamento, síntese e caracterização, além de estudos térmicos e ópticos de uma nova série de moléculas com estrutura discótica, facilmente sintetizadas a partir do versátil núcleo trifenol tristriazolotriazina. Todos os compostos sintetizados tiveram a sua estrutura e pureza confirmadas através das técnicas de espectroscopia no infravermelho (IV), ressonância magnética nuclear (RMN) e ponto de fusão. As propriedades térmicas foram investigadas por microscopia óptica de luz plano polarizada (MOLP), calorimetria diferencial de varredura (DSC) e análise termogravimétrica (TGA). Por fim, as propriedades fotofísicas foram estudadas em solução através de técnicas de espectrometria de absorção no ultravioleta visível (UV-vis) e medidas de fluorescência e rendimento quântico.Das três moléculas discóticas preparadas duas apresentaram comportamento líquido-cristalino, sendo a mesofase caracterizada como hexagonal colunar. Os dois cristais líquidos obtidos apresentam mesofase a temperaturas relativamente baixas, sendo um deles a temperatura ambiente. O outro, por sua vez, manifestou um comportamento térmico diferenciado, permanecendo numa forma super-resfriada por vários dias após o resfriamento a partir do estado líquido.Os compostos absorveram na região entre 277 a 285 nm e emitiram na região entre 348 a 365 nm. Os rendimentos quânticos apresentados por esses compostos foram relativamente baixos e inferiores aos derivados do núcleo tristriazolotriazina (TTT) já reportados na literatura.Através dos resultados obtidos, puderam-se obter informações importantes com relação ao efeito das modificações estruturais sobre as propriedades térmicas e fotofísicas dos materiais derivados do TTT.Abstract : This work describes the planning, synthesis and characterization, besides the thermal and optical studies of a new molecular series with discotic structure, easily synthesized from de versatile core triphenol tristriazolotriazine. All the synthesized compounds had their structure and purity confirmed by infrared spectroscopy (IV), nuclear magnetic resonance (RMN) and melting point techniques. The thermal properties where carried out by optical microscopy plane polarized light (MOLP), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). At last, the photophysical properties were studied in solution by ultraviolet visible absorption spectroscopy and emission and quantum yield measures tecniques.Of the three discotic molecules prepared two showed liquid crystalline behavior, being the mesophase characterizated as hexagonal columnar. The two liquid crystals obtained showed mesophase at relatively low temperatures, one of them at room temperature. The other, in turn, presented a different thermal behavior, staying in a super-cold form for several days after cooling from the liquid state.The compounds absorbed in the region from 277 to 285 nm and emitted in the region between 348-365 nm. The quantum yields presented by these compounds were relatively low and below the derivatives tristriazolotriazine core (TTT) reported in the literature.From the results, it could be obtained important information regarding to the effect of structural modifications on the thermal and photophysical properties of the TTT derived materials

African Swine Fever (ASF) diagnosis and molecular characterization. ESTONIA. FINAL Report issued by the European Union Reference Laboratory for African swine fever (EURL-ASF), CISA-INIA/CSIC
[EN] Scientific-technical report on the diagnostic confirmation and molecular characterization of
viruses circulating in specific áreas of Estonia, based on 14 samples from domestic pig and
wildboar, received at the EU Reference Laboratory (EURL) of CISA-INIA/CSIC.
This report consists of 9 pages and includes the results obtained from the received samples of
serum, bone marrow and organs/tissues, using validated diagnostic techniques and
genotyping: virological (PCR, virus isolation, haemadsorption test) and serological (ELISA
screening and confirmatory Immunoperoxidase Test).
Genotyping and molecular characterization studies were conducted, including molecular
studies and sequence analysis, of six different genome regions: CVR, IGR I73R/I329L, O174L,
K145R, IGR MGF505 9R/10R, and ECO2 as genetic subtyping markers previously described by
Gallardo et al., 2023 (Front Vet Sci. 2023 Jan 25;10:1112850); Giammarioli et al., 2024 (Viruses.
2024;16(8):1185), and specific unpublished information from the EURL.
The report includes an updated subtyping table showing groups based on variants identified
since 2007 in Europe following molecular analysis of the six variable regions mentioned above

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
