The New Hungarian Pension System and its Problems
In January 1, 1998 a new, three-pillar pension system was introduced in Hungary. It will replace about a 1/4 of the existing unfunded public system by a funded private system from 2013. This transition is obligatory for people entering the labor market after June 30, 1998 and optional for others. Meanwhile the public pillar is also reformed. Pensionable age is increasing significantly but smoothly, wage index-ation is replaced by a combined wage-price indexation and the link between earnings and benefits will be rectified between 2009–2013. The official view is that it is this reform package which will make the Hungarian pension system sustainable in the long run and will contribute to the development of capital markets. The critics of the reforms, including the author, underline several remaining and new problems: the public pillar retains its weak points until 2013, the consolidated balance may deteriorate rather than improve under the partial privatization and the welfare of the old population will be relatively lower due to the decreased security.pension reforms, funding, economics in transition
Style elements of Lajos Parti Nagy’s poetic language
Dolgozatomban a kortárs magyar irodalom meghatározó alakja, Parti Nagy Lajos költészetének stílusjegyeit és szövegformáló eljárásait vizsgálom. A költő nyelvhasználatának átfogó és rendszerező stilisztikai megközelítésére eddig még nem került sor, ezért kutatásom fontosságát verseskötetei nyelvi-stiláris elemzésének hiánypótlásában látom. Vizsgálataimat a funkcionális stilisztika elméleti-módszertani alapjaira építem, a stílusjelenségeket nyelvi szintenként veszem számba. Értekezésem ezek közül is a legmeghatározóbbakat ismerteti. // My dissertation explores the style elements and text formation practices of the poetry of Lajos Parti Nagy, an outstanding author of today’s Hungarian literature. Since no one has applied a comprehensive and systematic stylistic approach to his language use as yet, I consider my research to be novel in the analysis of the language and style of his collections of poems. My studies are founded on the theory and methodology of functional stylistics, and I explore style elements by language level. My dissertation discusses the most important of these
Palaeolithic portable art and its relation to ungulate bones (metapods)
Étude d’objets du MAN par Éva DavidInternational audienceThe search for a possible relation between Palaeolithic engraving and the anatomic material that served as its base, when this relation concerns the lower leg – more precisely the metapod – takes the author to the Musée d’Archéologie nationale (MAN – National Museum of Archaeology, at Saint-Germain-en-Laye) where 22 Magdalenians and Solutrean art-works are picked out from old archaeological material – four originals among them - and first hand examined. As this anatomic extremity can also show evidence – through incisions on its bones – for other uses of the anatomical part, the criteria for studying engraved art mobilier on metapod are discussed at length. Of the engravings ascribed to the Magdalenian it will be noted they evince - for those that express a figurative art - a sense of the anatomy, as well as a close relationship between the animal and the bone it is depicted on – both as a rule each time attributable to the same species. Finally, the hypothesis according to which a link of a symbolic nature between Magdalenian man and the ungulates - particularly reindeer - can be seen in the technical procedure revealed on right reindeer metatarsi engraved with reindeer is explored
Obtaining Data on Mobility : from the historic Recordings of Migrations to Family Group Biographies.
The need to understand the decision making process at the origin of migrations and the choice of location of individuals has brought many researchers to consider adopting a framework of analysis destined to fully consider the strategy of individuals within their space.
This field of analysis of mobility appears to be very dynamic and rich both for the considerations of theoretical analysis and for practical experimentation. This paper presents recent developments in methodologies and their use. Having identified the major axes of these innovations on the basis of either their questioning of the time base on the phenomena, or a more precise appreciation of the spatial origins, the psychology or social aspirations of the individuals, or the unit measure considered to be the most appropriate (individual, network, or family circle), the author proposes the type of data collection involved and the conclusions that may be drawn from these different concepts. The author concludes with a demonstration of a data gathering process which integrates the study of migrations in a larger context that is based on longitudinal group dynamics, the family circle, all of which being shaped by the interactive trajectory of each of its members.
Eva Ring, "Attempts to change the political situation in Eastern Europe at the time pf the French Revolution. "
The starting point of this article is a description of the situation and of the balance of power on the diplomatic level during the Revolution, especially between 1792 and 1798. The studies shows how French diplomacy, personified by Dumouriez was still steeped in ideas inherited from the Ancien Régime and set on the search for traditional allies. After Thermidor, these ideas are again put into practice in a modified context.
Working on the spot, the author has analysed the ideas and projects of Polish émigrés in Saxony and the changes in central Europe during the summer of 1793. She underlines the close ties and contacts between Polish groups and the movements that developed in the Habsbourg states, in Austria, in Hungaria and in Bohemia and she gives special attention to the Galician conspiracy which was to play a key part in the whole plan as it was set up. The failure of the revolutionary movements, among which the Martinovic plot is the best known episode, left the national elites to dream of a confederation or an "Eastern Switzerland" wich would act as a framework for changes more adapted to the heterogeneous ethnic and religious structure of these countries.
The paper (The Venetian master of the ut pictura poesis: Giovan Mario Verdizzotti and his animal fables) is dedicated to a little-known author of the Italian Renaissance: Giovan Mario Verdizzotti, poet and painter, a pupil of Titian. His masterpiece (Cento favole morali / Hundred moral fables) belongs to the rich literature of the sixteenth-century fables, whose particularity lies in the fact that the illustrations were made by the author himself thus realizing in one person the principle of the Horatian ut pictura poesis. The paper analyzes some fables demonstrating the harmony between the story and the drawing, and at the same time compares the structure and style of his woodcuts with those of the collection of Faerno and Pavesi, declared sources of our author
