Abstract: This study investigates how Jorge Luis Borges builds Sur neighborhood as mythic space in his first three books of poetry. To this end, we analyzed how the representation of such a space make of it a symbolic and later a mythical space, both in the overall work of the author, but also that individual movement of Borges that achieve the collective imagination of the city. Still we have studied how the personal memory and the imagery is able to create emotional spaces, which constitute the totality of texts by the author
Borges and Old English: analysis of the poem on the exploits of Beowulf, Solomon and Saturn and Battle of Maldon.
The aim of the following paper is to analyse the figure of the Argentine poet Jorge Luis Borges, who is well
known for his works in the Spanish-language fantasy genre, in relation to his interest in Germanic literature.
In particular, he will focus on Old English, a passion born out of his curiosity for his father's culture. His
congenital illness, blindness, which led him to reflect on his origins and compose essays on Old English, will
be discussed. Next, some of the Old English poems that he reinterpreted in his own personal way are
illustrated, they are as follows: The Exploits of Beowulf, Solomon and Saturn and the Battle of Moldan. The
aim is thus to compare these works of Germanic literature with Borges' interpretation of them and to give
an overview of the historical context and the relationship between the author and the Germanic world
Jorge Luis Borges e l’anacronismo
In a short story of Ficciones, Borges presents Pierre Menard, the author of a modern version of Don Quixote. A plagiarism or a deliberate paradoxical anachronism, that questions the whole history of literature through erroneous attributions. It is not an isolated case, as Borges uses the idea of plagiarism in another text: the Chronicles of Bustos Domecq, written with Bioy Casares, where the bold César Paladión seeks fame by publishing, at his expense, works manifestly written by others
Borges and Data Sciences in ―The Golem‖
This article consists of an analysis of the mathematical content in the poem” The Golem”
written by the Argentinean author Jorge Luis Borges, in 1958. Our analysis takes in consideration the
deep reflections on Statistics found on the book: Statistical Rethinking (2020) written by Richard
McElreath. We found relevant similitudes between the mathematical content of Borges’ poem, and the
innovative approach to Statistics, and in particular the explanations of Bayesian statistics, as they are
presented on the book authored by McElreath
Jorge Luis Borges and Ruben Dario: Art, Politics and Creative Freedom
In spite of the nineteenth-century style foundational !roping of Dario as 'Liberator', what Borges had come to realise in the intervening years was the fundamental lesson to be learnt about the need for creative freedom, without which art runs the risk of becoming a mere vehicle for ideology. It is also one of the rare occasions where he acknowledges 'originality', relentlessly deconstructed throughout his writing career, and we must therefore take with a grain of salt his evasive, tongue-in-cheek statements about his own lack of creative originality, One suspects that Borges was acutely aware of his originality, but did his utmost to feign humility. While he may have been sceptical towards founding gestures, indeed thematised such positions in, for example, 'Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote',5 part of his originality clearly lies in the philosophical questioning of the foundational conceits of Western metaphysics, including literature and literary writers' claim to be transparent unto themselves, original unto themselves, when they are shot through with tradition, synthesis and citation: 'Borrowing citations, even entire works, swapping literary paternity, playfully assembling and disassembling texts from the past, arranging them in new perspectives: all this has innovative value for Borges,.6 This essay, then, highlights the shared concern of both Dario and Borges with creative freedom and how this was played out against a historical background of a struggle for cultural hegemony between cultural nationalism and cosmopolitanism within the irnpact of modernity on Latin American literary production
In more than ninety of his works, Borges refers to Cervantes directly, and, in numerous others, he implicitly alludes to the father of the modern novel. Focusing on “Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote”, this essay analyzes, on the one hand, the games of self-representation hidden in Pierre Menard's visible works, and, on the other hand, Menard's (and therefore, Borges's) decision to attempt to reproduce chapters IX, XXII, and XXXVIII of the first part of Don Quixote. It is argued that these chapters possess particular significance, not only for Cervantes's novel but also for Borges's own literary project as well as for that of his fictional author. Lastly, three of Borges' most Cervantine short stories, “Death and the Compass”, “The South”, and “The Congress”, are briefly discussed.

Borges and Photography
Borges is unquestionably the most photographed Argentine author. As someone who assumed something of an international celebrity status before he was widely accepted in his native country, the photographic images of Borges, which outside Argentina quickly went from newsprint to book jackets to gallery walls, were less the consequence in Argentina of any canonical role in national letters than they were the attention of local artists to their acquaintances and associates in rather closed circles
The labyrinth of representation in the literature of Jorge Luis Borges
(Texto tomado de la fuente)The Labyrinth of Representation in the Literature of Jorge Luis Borges This work explores, based on five stories by the argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, the way in which representation plays a role in the creation of literary images. These images imply the execution of the metaphor as a narrative tool, with which it is possible to describe otherwise impossible objects and phenomena. This is the case of the image of random, which takes shape with the multiple images of labyrinths proposed by the author. It will be seen that this exploration contemplates the relations with the Jewish, Christian and Greek traditions, for this reason mythological ties are drawn. Finally, an effort is proposed to describe geometrically and spatially some of these labyrinths within the stories.MaestríaMagíster en EstéticaÁrea Curricular de Ciencias Humanas y Sociale
