    No full text
This study aims to determine the value theory of character education and structural theory. In line with the research objectives, this research uses qualitative research using descriptive methods. The data used in this study is a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic elements of literary works which include structural theory and the values of character education contained in the novel. The data source used in this research is the novel "One Academic Year" by Junior Dany Wibisono. The results of the analysis of the One Academic Year novel include structural theories such as intrinsic elements consisting of: (1) theme, namely the intrinsic elements of the novel which are the basis of the story, (2) plot/plot which is the storyline, (3) setting which refers to the background. time, atmosphere, and place of the story, (4) characterization is the determination of the character or character of the character, (5) point of view, namely the direction of a writer's point of view in conveying a story, (6) mandate, which is a moral message written by the author of the story. In addition, there are also extrinsic elements. The extrinsic element is the opposite of the novel's intrinsic element. The extrinsic elements of the novel are elements that are outside the literary work, but indirectly affect the structure of the literary work. The extrinsic element of a literary work depends on the author telling the work. Extrinsic elements for example are the values contained, background, and social situation. After structural theory, there are also character education values contained in the novel

ABSTRACT   Wibisono, Andri. 2013. Proportion of Language Skills in English Textbook English on Sky 1.Sarjana’s Thesis.English Department, Faculty of Letters, State University of Malang.Advisor: Prof. H. Ali Saukah, M.A., Ph.D.   Keywords: proportion of language skills, English textbook, balance presentation   This study is conducted in order to analyze the English textbook English on Sky 1 published by Erlangga. Specifically, the study is aimed to analyze the proportion of language skills in the textbook, which is showed the activities in textbook. The method that is used in this study is qualitative evaluative which means the researcher evaluate the textbook and then explain the result descriptively. The researcher has evaluated the each unit in the textbook to obtain the information about the proportion of language skills. The data collection and data analysis were conducted using the checklist as the instrument. The checklist consists of all activities in the textbook and is developed by the researcher himself. The advisor has validated the checklist.  Then, the data were interpreted using percentage. English textbook, English on Sky 1, has seven units. Every unit has two main parts, Let’s listen and talk and Let’s read and write. Every part in every unit is divided into four other parts, Let’s build the field, Let’s learn the model, Let’s learn to construct text, and Let’s construct text. The skills that presented in every activity is determined by the kind of the exercises in each activity. An activity may consist more the one skill. Overall, the English textbook English on Sky 1 presents writing skills with proportion of 29%, followed by speaking with 26%, listening with 25%, and reading with 20%. It means that the textbook presents more on writing skills in its activities. However, speaking and listening still have high portion that can make students become communicative. Reading skill has the lowest portion because there are still a fewactivities present this skill. Based on the findings, this textbook is good for students, because this textbook was made by the author, which is based on the standard from the government. This textbook also has many activities with integrated skills. In one activity, students may learn speaking and reading. The purpose of giving writing skill the highest proportion is to minimize the mistakes and improving the confidence of the students. However, what is lacking in this textbook is the proportion of reading skill. Based on the conclusion the author it is suggested that the author improve the quality of textbook by adding more reading activities in the textbook in purpose to make students ready for national exam, because most exercises in the national exam is include reading skill. Moreover, for the teachers, they should also take the materials for reading activity to cover what is lacking in this textbook. The reading materials can be taken from other textbooks, which have relevant material with English on Sky 1.

Circulating fluidized bed of biomass gasification: Product compound prediction by application of a constrained equilibrium model

Biomass as a renewable energy resource and a carbon neutral feedstock has a big potential to replace fossil fuel. Gasification as one of thermochemical process routes in biomass utilization draws attention with regards to its broad product range. The circulating fluidized bed with the advantages of higher and rapid conversion performs as the favorable type of reactor for the gasification process. Research of either model development or experimental study has been extensively carried out in characterizing the circulating fluidized bed biomass gasification to obtain an optimum set up. The two most commonly known classes of models for the circulating fluidized bed biomass gasification are equilibrium model and kinetic model. Despite its well-known advantage in providing the accuracy by the mechanistic approach, the model complexity should be paid off to compensate the proper result. Certain strategies are commonly elaborated in simplifying the model by introducing the empirical relation for certain conversion step or neglecting the less affecting phenomena of the model. Such simplification unavoidably limits the model flexibility into the certain application only. Regardless of its accuracy, the equilibrium modeling approach is famous with its flexibility application and is considered simpler than the kinetic one. Making use of the Gibbs free energy minimization as the thermodynamic equilibrium condition the model predicts the product compounds in response to the operating conditions. The global equilibrium consideration causes the poor accuracy of the model since there is a limitation in achieving such condition for the actual conversion process conditions. Introducing the experimentally based constraints is noticed in several published papers as an improvement in correcting the model global equilibrium condition for the better representation of the actual process. The improvement opens the possibility to upgrade the model accuracy. In this master thesis, the extent of the constrained equilibrium model is examined among developed models and experimental data by developing the most robust constraint cases in predicting the product compounds. Several methods were performed in determining such constraints in representing the actual process. The carbon conversion together with the CH4 amount from related gasification and devolatilization experiment were chosen to be the constraints for the major gasses prediction. Meanwhile, carbon conversion and 4 major gasses amount (H2, CH4, CO, CO2) were selected to correct the model global equilibrium in predicting the formed tar species. The selected constraint cases were introduced in the equilibrium model in performing the prediction for the case study on torrefied and non-torrefied circulating fluidized bed biomass gasification campaign 100 kWth test rig at TU Delft. The major gasses prediction among cases varies from the good agreement of H2/CO ratio and Lower Heating Value of the product gas to the roughly approximated 30% mole fraction average difference to the experimental data. The model predicted 13 species of tar from 25 considered species. From the 15 species analyzed in the experimental data, 10 predicted species are in qualitatively good agreement. The total tar and BTX tar prediction are in quantitative agreement with the experimental data.Mechanical, Maritime and Materials EngineeringProcess and Energ

ABSTRAK Using a historical approach, the author explores some empirical evidence of the economic system worldwide since the XVI century. In case of Indonesia, the "national" economy was running independently during the Majapahit era. Later on, mercantilism by European companies such as VOC dominated the economic system for 15 centuries. In 1870, an Agrarian Law was implemented by the Dutch colonial Government. in Hindia Belanda (Indonesia), which was highly accommodating to U.K. and U.S. foreign investment. This, then, was the first foreign investment law to w. be applied in Indonesian economic history, rather than the I 967 Law under New Order in the modern economy a century letter. Concerning national current issues, the author says that the issues of disparits, conglomeration and some difficulties tin creating Anti-Monopoly Laws are not the real technical problems to be solved. The more important thing and the most basic question is whether or not we are ready to be democratic, ready to transform progressively and even radically, to create a modern political system. This means that typical phenomena such as unnatural power monopoly and collusion between bureaucrats and capitalists will have to end. Keywords:economic system, capitalist

This article examines the use of religious elements in political campaigns in Indonesia from an ethical perspective The author argues that the use of religious contents in political campaigns is detriment from an ethical – specifically teleological – point of view as it deviates from its ultimate purpose of achieving the greater good. To support this argument, the paper examines the use of religious contents for political purposes from a teleological ethics point of view referring to the works in ethics, political ethics, and its communications as well as thoughts on nationalis

Land Conflict Between Companies and The Community in Pari Island, Thousand Islands

This research examines the land conflict that has arisen between a company and the residents of Pari Island in the Thousand Islands. The research addresses the following research questions:  1) What has been the prevailing model for resolving land conflicts between the company and the community of Pari Island in the Thousand Islands up to this point? 2) What is the ideal concept of land ownership and usage envisioned by both the company and the residents of the Thousand Islands? The research employs a sociolegal research methodology.  Research Outcomes: 1) The author\u27s analysis suggests that the prevailing approach to resolving land conflicts between the company and the Pari Island community in the Thousand Islands has largely relied on government administration and political conflict resolution, namely "Government Administration and Political Conflict Resolution. This category of conflict resolution can guide one\u27s thought process towards government administration and political solutions through legislative decisions." The resolution was achieved through conflict resolution efforts involving the local government in a non-litigious manner, specifically through mediation where the government acts as the mediator. Mediation has occurred on three occasions, two of which were held at the village level and one at the district level. 2) In the ideal concept that the author intends to propose for addressing the issue of conflict, one of the essential approaches that should be incorporated is the conflict resolution approach. The concept of conflict resolution prioritizes non-violent methods as the final recourse. The objective is to address conflicts in a constructive manner, with the ultimate goal of meeting the requirements and needs of all parties involved. Mediation, carried out by the parties involved in the land dispute on Pari Island, represents one form of conflict resolution. However, if mediation has not yielded success thus far, it becomes imperative to explore alternative conflict resolution models. Among these alternatives are negotiation and facilitatio
