Dynamics of Network Formation Processes in the Co-Author Model

    No full text
This article studies the dynamics in the formation processes of a mutual consent network in game theory setting: the Co-Author Model. In this article, a limited observation is applied and analytical results are derived. Then, 2 parameters are varied: the number of individuals in the network and the initial probability of the links in the network in its initial state. A simulation result shows a finding that is consistent with an analytical result for a state of equilibrium while it also shows different possible equilibria.Dynamics, Network, Game Theory, Model,Simulation, Equilibrium, Complexity

Art Made by Artificial Intelligence: The Effect of Authorship on Aesthetic Judgments

    No full text
Human-robot interaction requires that competent robot partners have a multiplicity of human characteristics. Can we accept that these competencies extend to the artistic domain, where humans have always expressed their uniqueness as a species? This study investigated whether aesthetic judgments evoked by abstract artworks vary depending on whether the author was believed to be a human or a robot. Adult participants were asked to give beauty (BJ) and liking (LJ) judgments, where BJ reflected artistic competence and LJ a more idiosyncratic, affective facet associated with the stimuli. Aesthetic judgments were made in a blind-baseline condition, devoid of authorship information, and a primed condition, where authorship information (human or robot) was provided. A significant variation was found in LJ and BJ between the blind and primed conditions. The human-authored paintings received a higher liking rating in the primed than the blind and robot conditions; opposite, the robot-authored paintings received a lower beauty rating in the primed than the blind condition. These results suggest a resistance to accepting artificial intelligence in the production of art and highlight the emotional component associated with human art-making. Furthermore, aesthetic judgments were correlated with the attribution of mental states to a human and a robot to evaluate what mental characteristics are most related to aesthetic judgments. Both BJ and LJ of robot-authored art were significantly associated with the mental ability of creativity, thus pinpointing this skill as a marker of human art-making

PROCESOS DE CONSTRUCCIÓN Y ORGANIZACIÓN DE LA DEPARTAMENTALIZACIÓN EN LA UNCUYO

    No full text

To that the public squares act as urban spaces of permanence, it.s desirable that they present physical and ambient quality. The increasing specialization of the space inside of the city, the displacement of the forms of entertainment for closed enclosures, the growth of the use of vehicles and the conditions of the actual urban life show alterations in the forms of appropriation of the public squares. To understand the functioning of the central squares it is necessary to study the relation between uses, functions and physicist-ambient aspects of these with neighborhood and its paper in the city. To understand the phenomenon of appropriation of the central public squares offices we carry through two distinct stages: the revision of literature and the field research. In the literature revision, we argue the following subjects: urban centers, free spaces and central public squares. The field research was carried through in six squares located in the catarinenses cities of Tubarao, Braco do Norte and Laguna. The adopted methodology was the Study of Case, in which they had used the following procedures: documentary analysis, observation of the physicist-ambient performance of the square and the behavior of the user, through the techniques of interview and game. The application of these methods assisted in the agreement of the phenomenon of appropriation of the central public squares, therefore, beyond demonstrating the current situation that the squares if find, it allowed to identify the opinion of who if it appropriates or not of these spaces. Thus, from the systematization of the gotten datas are presented common parameters with basis of the analyses of the joined situations that aim at a qualification of the squares and a bigger appropriation on the part of the inhabitants of each city where they meet

The research seeks to understand the relationship between the different forms that the city has acquired over time and contemporary forms of appropriation, based on a theoretical discussion of concepts and criteria of authors who discuss the performance of the form of the city in relation to the appropriation of public spaces. Based on this debate, we selected criteria related to appropriation, both at the scale of city structure and at the scale of place configuration, and proceeded to the characterization and analysis of the contemporary city of Quito in a search to identify spatial patterns directly associated with a positive appropriation of the city in Quito´s culture. The selected criteria and the positive patterns identified oriented the design guidelines here proposed for the architectural design of the Paróquia of Cumbayá - an area of expansion in the city of Quito, Ecuador - in an attempt to comply with the criteria of good urban form performance so as to enhance the appropriation of its public spaces

SYNTHESIS OF C-GLYCOSYL AMINO ACIDS AS STABLE BUILDING BLOCKS FOR MODIFIED GLYCOPEPTIDE SYNTHESIS

    No full text
In this thesis, we have studied and synthesized new class of C-glycosly amino acids whose structure features a hetrocycle ring holding the carbohydrate and the amino acid fragments. Pyridine and tetrazole rings were used as hetrocycle linkers in this project. This class of C-glycosyl amino acids is of interest as new chealtors and as building building blocks for cotranslational glycopeptides synthesis. In the first part, C-Glycosylmethyl pyridylalanines were synthesized via thermally induced Hantzsch-type cyclocondensation using an aldehyde-ketoester-enamino ester system. To one of these reagents was attached a C-glycosyl residue, while to another was bound an amino acid fragment. In a one-pot optimized methodology, the dihydropyridine was not isolated while its purification was carried out by removal of unreacted material and side products using polymer-supported scavengers. Then the dihydropyridine (mixture of diastereoisomers) was oxidized by a polymer-bound oxidant to give the target pyridine bearing the two bioactive residues. In this way, a range of eight compounds (58-68% yield) was prepared in which the elements of diversity were (i) the gluco and galacto configurations of the pyranose ring, (ii) the α- and β-configurations at the anomeric center, and (iii) the positions of the carbohydrate and amino acid sectors in the pyridine ring. The orthogonal functional group protection in these amino acids allowed their easy incorporation into oligopeptides via sequential amino and carboxylic group coupling. In the second part, tetrazole moiety was constructed via Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between nitriles and organic azides. Two sets of compounds have been prepared, one being constituted of C-galactosyl and C-ribosyl O-tetrazolyl serines, while the other contains S-tetrazolyl cysteine derivatives. In both cases, the synthetic scheme involved a twostep route: the first one being the thermal cycloaddition of a sugar azide with p-toluensulfonyl cyanide (TsCN) to give a 1-substituted 5-sulfonyl tetrazole and the second the replacement of the tosyl group with a serine or cysteine residue. For the high efficiency and operational simplicity, the azide-TsCN cycloaddition appears to be a true click process. Finally, one of the amino acids prepared was incorporated into a tripeptid
