    Pallidal Beta Activity Is Linked to Stimulation‐Induced Slowness in Dystonia

    Background Pallidal deep brain stimulation (DBS) effectively alleviates symptoms in dystonia patients, but may induce movement slowness as a side-effect. In Parkinson's disease, hypokinetic symptoms have been associated with increased beta oscillations (13–30 Hz). We hypothesize that this pattern is symptom-specific, thus accompanying DBS-induced slowness in dystonia. Methods In 6 dystonia patients, pallidal rest recordings with a sensing-enabled DBS device were performed and tapping speed was assessed using marker-less pose estimation over 5 time points following cessation of DBS. Results After cessation of pallidal stimulation, movement speed increased over time (P < 0.01). A linear mixed-effects model revealed that pallidal beta activity explained 77% of the variance in movement speed across patients (P = 0.01). Conclusions The association between beta oscillations and slowness across disease entities provides further evidence for symptom-specific oscillatory patterns in the motor circuit. Our findings might help DBS therapy improvements, as DBS-devices able to adapt to beta oscillations are already commercially available. © 2023 The Authors. The author explains how this has hindered St. Lucia’s ability to gain more benefit from the legislative process and improve the quality of legislation produced with less likelihood of amendments

As was the case with CH3F1CH_{3}F_{1}, the dipole-dipole process in CH3ClCH_{3}Cl has the largest cross section, and the ΔJ=n,ΔK=0(n2)\Delta J = n, \Delta K = 0 (n \geq 2) processes are well described by a two parameter Statistical Power Gap Law (SPG). In addition, we have measured a rapid ΔK=3n\Delta K = 3n thermalizing processes in v6=1v_{6} = 1 of CH3ClCH_{3}Cl similar to that observed in v3=1v_{3} = 1 of CH3F2CH_{3}F^{2}. However, the ΔK=3nCH3Cl\Delta K = 3n CH_{3}Cl data exhibited a feature distinct from that of the CH3FCH_{3}F. Whereas the ΔK=3n\Delta K = 3n process populates the CH3FCH_{3}F final states with an ambient temperature Boltzmann distribution, it populates the CH3ClCH_{3}Cl states with an initially nonambient Boltzmann distribution. This initial temperature is related to the energy of the rotational state populated by the CO2CO_{2} laser pump, and its relaxation rate is related to the rate that the ΔK=3n\Delta K = 3n process populates the A symmetry (the pumped symmetry) states. The CH3ClCH_{3}Cl and CH3FCH_{3}F results will be reconciled

    Striato-pallidal oscillatory connectivity correlates with symptom severity in dystonia patients

    Abstract Dystonia is a hyperkinetic movement disorder that has been associated with an imbalance towards the direct pathway between striatum and internal pallidum, but the neuronal underpinnings of this abnormal basal ganglia pathway activity remain unknown. Here, we report invasive recordings from ten dystonia patients via deep brain stimulation electrodes that allow for parallel recordings of several basal ganglia nuclei, namely the striatum, external and internal pallidum, that all displayed activity in the low frequency band (3–12 Hz). In addition to a correlation with low-frequency activity in the internal pallidum (R = 0.88, P  = 0.001), we demonstrate that dystonic symptoms correlate specifically with low-frequency coupling between striatum and internal pallidum (R = 0.75, P  = 0.009). This points towards a pathophysiological role of the direct striato-pallidal pathway in dystonia that is conveyed via coupling in the enhanced low-frequency band. Our study provides a mechanistic insight into the pathophysiology of dystonia by revealing a link between symptom severity and frequency-specific coupling of distinct basal ganglia pathways

Celá problematika diplomové práce se vztahuje k autorskému magisterskému projektu Proměním se v zajíce se zármutkem a obrovskou opatrností. Obsahem první části diplomové práce je schopnost kolektivní spolupráce skupiny Gob Squad. V popisu jejich práce reflektuji své tvůrčí zkušenosti. Ve druhé části se zaměřuji na postup Anny Klimešové a kolektivu u zkoušení inscenace Proměním se v zajíce se zármutkem a obrovskou opatrností. Třetí část řeší téma herce jako spoluautora v souvislosti s výukou na katedře alternativního a loutkového divadla a jejího vlivu na mě, jako na herce a tvůrce.This master thesis focuses on the actor as a co-author, the possibilities of actor’s involvement as an author in the play and boundaries of the authorship. The research problem of the master thesis is tied to the master project I shall go into a hare with sorrow and such mickle care. The first part of the master thesis is focused on the collective ability of cooperation of the God Squad group. In their work I reflect my creative experiences.
