Abstract: The web changes commercial activities such as information gathering, shopping, trading, collaboration, and distribution to which companies need to adapt their strategies. The importance of information and communication technology (ICT), especially of the internet in the travel and tourism industry has increased tremendously over the past few years. The travel and tourism area is one of those industries, which are able to gain enormous synergy effects from use of the internet. The research projects at the ec3 focus on the tourism area from different perspectives. This paper provides an overview of the work within the xCom project in this research area by looking at trends and developments within the eTourism area. We give an overview of the travel and tourism industry and the changes caused by ICT. These changes lead to several threats and opportunities which will be outlined in our ‘competitive advantage in eTourism ’ framework

Focusing on the theoretical foundations of the new Hungarian Criminal Code, which continues to rely on the concept of “endangering society”, the author points to the conceptual inconsistencies of criminal provisions on family status.Az új magyar büntető törvénykönyv elméleti alapjaira összpontosítva, amely továbbra is a „társadalom veszélyeztetése” fogalmára támaszkodik, a szerző rámutat a családi státusszal kapcsolatos büntetőjogi rendelkezések fogalmi következetlenségeire

We study in general algebras Gratzer\u27s notion of congruence preserving function, characterizing functions in terms of stability under inverse image of particular Boolean algebras of subsets generated from any subset of the algebra. Weakening Gratzer\u27s notion to only finite index congruences, a similar result holds with lattices of sets. Genereralizing the notion to that of stable preorder preserving function, we extend these characterizations to Boolean algebras and lattices generated from any recognizable subset of the algebra. Our starting point is a result with related flavor on the additive algebra of natural integers which was obtained some years ago. All these results can be visualized in the diagram of Table 1. We finally consider some simple particular conditions on the algebra allowing to get a richer diagram

Climatic variability and other site factor influences on natural regeneration of Pinus pinaster Ait. in Mediterranean forests

Background: How environmental factors affect forest regeneration is relevant for systems that depend partially or fully on natural regeneration. Objective: P. pinaster post-disturbance regeneration and its relationship to environmental factors was studied in five P. pinaster forest populations of central Spain. We expected that 1) different harvesting methods or wildfire would promote natural regeneration in all populations, but with local and regional variations; 2) alternatively, different site-dependent stand factors would affect natural regeneration, although generalized climate effects would be seen. Analysis of variance and multivariate analysis were used to test differences, to classify ecological variations and to search for the most important factors affecting regeneration. Results: The results suggest that the recovery of P. pinaster forest in burnt stands, and stand replacement in harvested stands can be achieved soon after disturbance if climatic conditions and other local-site factors (e.g. soil and overstorey structure in harvested stands, cone bank in burnt stands) make the stand suitable for natural regeneration. Heterogeneous regeneration can be expected in all cases. The time of precipitation strongly influenced seedling density and successive regeneration development stages. Edaphic properties combined with water availability from precipitation can seriously limit the natural establishment of P. pinaster in xeric systems or during years of intense drought. Although many factors contribute to high variability natural regeneration was very effective (successful) in P. pinaster forests, which contributes to the generalization that natural regeneration is a viable forestry option in many forest types.Instituto Universitario de Gestión Forestal Sostenibl

    Blind Attacks on Engineering Samples

In addition to its usual complexity assumptions, cryptography silently assumes that information can be physically protected in a single location. As we now know, real-life devices are not ideal and confidential information leaks through different physical channels.\smallskip Whilst most aspects of side channel leakage (cryptophthora) are now well understood, no attacks on totally unknown algorithms are known to date. This paper describes such an attack.\smallskip By {\sl totally unknown} we mean that no information on the algorithm\u27s mathematical description (including the plaintext size), the microprocessor or the chip\u27s power consumption model is available to the attacker.\smallskip We successfully experimented the attack on a commercially available device produced by a non-European smart-card manufacturer
