No full textThis paper discusses a passage from the Iliad (18, 497-508) which is the most ancient literary source of a trial scene. The information given in this short epic text is limited and problematic, and therefore the explanations and interpretations have always been much-debated and varied. In this paper the author puts forward another observation about the value and function of the individual words used to describe the legal proceedings (the causes of the dispute, the characters, the setting, the objects and the gestures), and also finds that the text evokes certain institutional, political, juridical and religious aspects of the early archaic polis

No full textConcerning the texts of Pausanias, the individuation of the main elements and meaning of the narrative system is certainly based on the acquisition and communication of the information, specifically speaking of the percourse of the trip and of the visit. The step of field survey for Pausanias was fundamental for construction and verification of the information. What generally the author is writing is the definitive result between ‘passive’ and ‘active’ interaction of the local information. The contribution aims to investigate specifically this attitude of field research of Pausanias, as part of his methodology of research
Variations on the Author
No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

No full textWith the aim to clarify the effect of seasonal variation on reproductive performance of hybrid
rabbits, a six-years investigation was carried out. Traits analysed were pregnancy rate of does and numerical productivity
at weaning. The data set included: 33588 matings and subsequent pregnancy diagnosis; 245743 young
rabbits at weaning. From the statistical analysis, pregnancy rate and numerical productivity at weaning appeared
to be significantly (P<0.001) affected by seasonal variation. Furthermore a statistically significant (P<0.001) month
influence was also found. Nevertheless a correlation between the two parameters needs to be performed to supplement
our analysis
