Seasonal and spatial patterns of oxygen production, respiration and root-rhizome release in Potamogeton perfoliatus L. and Zostera marina L.
No full textOxygen release to the rhizosphere was measured in situ with O₂ microelectrodes and in hydroponic, split-compartment chambers. Light-dark experiments revealed that O₂ release from the rhizomes of Potamogeton perfoliatus L. was directly dependent on photosynthesis and that O₂ concentrations in sediments near the rhizomes started to decrease within 2 min after plants were darkened. Using Fick's first law of diffusion, the calculated net O₂ flux in P. perfoliatus was approximately 120 μmol g⁻¹ dry weight h⁻¹, similar to fluxes calculated from hydroponic measurements.
Root-rhizome O₂ release, photosynthesis and respiration were measured for P. perfoliatus and Zostera marina L., with split-compartment hydroponic chambers in spring, summer and fall. For Z. marina, variability of root-rhizome O₂ release, photosynthesis and respiration were observed between different sites within an eelgrass bed. The highest rates of O₂ release from roots and rhizomes occurred in spring for both species and declined during the summer. For P. perfoliatus, the shortest plants (< 10 cm stem length) had the highest O₂ release, about 43 μmol g⁻¹ dry weight h⁻¹. Root-rhizome O₂ release was significantly related to photosynthesis only for P. perfoliatus. Oxidation of the rhizosphere depended on root-rhizome O₂ release and biomass, which changed seasonally. Although weight-specific release rates were higher for P. perfoliatus than Z. marina, the potential oxidation of the rhizosphere was similar for both species (approximately 4–6 mmol O₂ m⁻² h⁻¹) because of relatively high Z. marina root and rhizome biomass.Journal Articl
Validation of the Read Out Electronics for the CMS Muon Drift Chambers at Tests Beam in CERN/GIF

Read Out Board (ROB) and HPTD have been validated with signals from a real muon beam, with an structure and flux similar to LHC operating conditions and using one of the chambers produced in CIEMAT already located in the test beam area under normal gas and voltage conditions. Local and global performance of double-gap resistive plate chambers operated in avalanche mode
No full textTwo large double-gap resistive plate chambers, with 2 and 3 mm gap widths, were tested to study their response uniformity when operated in avalanche mode. The effects of mechanical tolerances and the presence of the spacers is thoroughly examined. Results on efficiency and time resolution are presented. We find that average performance and response uniformity over the whole chamber surface are fully adequate to the requirements of future collider experiments. (author
Legal Form and Other Issues of Activity of Notarial Chambers in the Russian Federation

В настоящей статье рассмотрены изменения Гражданского кодекса РФ в части организационно-правовой формы нотариальных палат в Российской Федерации, мнения ученых по данному вопросу и сделан вывод о том, что установление отдельной организационно-правовой формы для нотариальных палат представляется излишним с точки зрения правового регулирования. Проанализированы судебные акты Конституционного Суда РФ и Верховного Суда РФ по вопросам о существовании в одном субъекте РФ нескольких нотариальных палат, об обязательном членстве нотариусов в нотариальной палате, о количестве голосов представителя нотариальной палаты субъекта РФ в собрании представителей нотариальных палат. Обращается внимание на необходимость согласования положений Гражданского кодекса РФ и Основ законодательства РФ о нотариате об обязательном и добровольном членстве в нотариальной палате субъекта РФ. Кроме того, рассматриваются вопросы о создании и деятельности органов нотариальных палат; о применении к нотариусам, занимающимся частной практикой, дисциплинарной ответственности.The legal status of the notary chambers in the Russian Federation has changed significantly over the last two or three years. This article considers the changes of the Civil code of the Russian Federation regarding the legal form of notarial chambers in the RF, the opinions of scholars on this issue and concluded that the establishment of a separate legal form for notary chambers seems unnecessary from the point of view of legal regulation. The author analyzed judicial acts of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of the RF on the issues of the existence in the same RF subject of several notary chambers, on compulsory membership of notaries in notarial chamber, the number of votes of the representative of the notary chamber of the Russian Federation at the meeting of representatives of notarial chambers. Attention is drawn to the need to harmonize the provisions of the Civil code of the RF and Russian legislation on notaries compulsory and voluntary membership in the chamber of notaries of the RF.
