Strategies Of Control Applied In Autonomous Guided Vehicles
Autonomous guided vehicles, called AGVs, are important components of factory automation and manufacture system integration that requires both technical and management skills. In this paper, an AGV prototype equipped with IR detectors and IR range sensors is programming to follow a route line on the floor and avoid some obstacles on the way. The motion of the experimental AGV is promote by two DC motor with build-in gearbox, working with simultaneous PWM control in closed-loop operation. This AGV is designed to operate in environments such as offices and shop floor, in order to carry light loads on flat surfaces and ramps with positive and negative inclination. Simulations tests with ADAMS® are compared with some experimental results in order to validate the model and the prototype approaches. Modeling A Hands-free Controlled Power Wheelchair
This paper will present a study of the dynamics of the contact between the tire of a wheelchair and the ground. The model of the contact between road and tire has been implemented using a mathematical concept in a 2D multibody program, creating a laboratory. With this laboratory, it is possible to see the behavior of the wheelchair with different input sources. In this work the input is taken care of by a program called HaWCoS which allows the user to control a wheelchair without the need to use the hands. The results make it possible to develop new products for people with special needs and to develop better control systems by taking the dynamic behavior of wheelchairs into consideration. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.5105 LNCS12611268Scherer, M.J., Cushman, L., Measuring subjective quality of life following spinal cord injury: A validation study of assistive technology device predisposition assessment (2001) Disabil. The Role Of Multiple Partners In A Digestive Mutualism With A Protocarnivorous Plant
Background and aimsThe protocarnivorous plant Paepalanthus bromelioides (Eriocaulaceae) is similar to bromeliads in that this plant has a rosette-like structure that allows rainwater to accumulate in leaf axils (i.e. phytotelmata). Although the rosettes of P. bromelioides are commonly inhabited by predators (e.g. spiders), their roots are wrapped by a cylindrical termite mound that grows beneath the rosette. In this study it is predicted that these plants can derive nutrients from recycling processes carried out by termites and from predation events that take place inside the rosette. It is also predicted that bacteria living in phytotelmata can accelerate nutrient cycling derived from predators.MethodsThe predictions were tested by surveying plants and animals, and also by performing field experiments in rocky fields from Serra do Cipó, Brazil, using natural abundance and enriched isotopes of 15N. Laboratory bioassays were also conducted to test proteolytic activities of bacteria from P. bromelioides rosettes.Key ResultsAnalyses of 15N in natural nitrogen abundances showed that the isotopic signature of P. bromelioides is similar to that of carnivorous plants and higher than that of non-carnivorous plants in the study area. Linear mixing models showed that predatory activities on the rosettes (i.e. spider faeces and prey carcass) resulted in overall nitrogen contributions of 26·5 % (a top-down flux). Although nitrogen flux was not detected from termites to plants via decomposition of labelled cardboard, the data on 15N in natural nitrogen abundance indicated that 67 % of nitrogen from P. bromelioides is derived from termites (a bottom-up flux). Bacteria did not affect nutrient cycling or nitrogen uptake from prey carcasses and spider faeces.ConclusionsThe results suggest that P. bromelioides derive nitrogen from associated predators and termites, despite differences in nitrogen cycling velocities, which seem to have been higher in nitrogen derived from predators (leaves) than from termites (roots). This is the first study that demonstrates partitioning effects from multiple partners in a digestion-based mutualism. Despite most of the nitrogen being absorbed through their roots (via termites), P. bromelioides has all the attributes necessary to be considered as a carnivorous plant in the context of digestive mutualism. © 2012 The Author.

Abstract : The research proposal, developed in 2014, was to understand the meanings of being a child in Costa da Lagoa, Azores community, located in Lagoa da Conceição, in Florianópolis (SC). The definition of Costa started from the idea that there are communities that keep principles of freedom with children, in a way, it has the time and space in the natural and cultural environment, to challenge and grow. Party of the theoretical concepts that consider historical beings children, social, ethnic, cultural, political and, therefore, entitled trajectories to be respected, I felt I was in front of children - sheltered all the similarities with the other - still have, in community dynamics, the right to be protagonists of experiences, learning and freedoms. Along the way, the research brings the general objective of the proposal to unravel the meanings found in the relations established by the children living in the Costa da Lagoa, between being, play and nature. Having the following objectives: a) to hear the stories of the old on his childhood memories, focusing on childhood and once in the games; b) find the existing leisure facilities in Lagoa da Costa directed to children living in this community, as well as give their appropriations; c) seek the meanings of the different ways of playing children living in the Costa da Lagoa; d) experience the daily life of these children and detecting their experiences with nature. The methodological definition came from ethnography, with its "look closely and away" and his "inside and outside look" and was configured as a path to be followed with a qualitative prevalence and descriptive. The focus was the older residents, some adults and children, in general, are able to participate in the social context, according to their wills and their skills, because belonging and being part is a right that is earned at birth. The methodology has been in permanent construction to account for a dynamic reality and changing. For data collection different instruments were used, complementary to each other: participant observation; notebook; informal conversations; visits to homes and older residents; photographs; shooting; children's drawings; participation in events. Upon completion of the survey, but far from satisfy the concerns as a researcher; I evaluate that ethnography provided a significant hike by the trails and crossings from Costa. The old residents who lived their childhoods, even permeated the work and difficulties, have happy and fun memories, keeping their liveliness and social participation. Children who live there have the opportunity to carry out activities in the naturalenvironment, among trees, water, land and animals. Children are challenged to overcome fears, to develop self-knowledge and to increase the awareness capability. I can say that my stay in Costa was one "lived experience" in my personal journey as a student and professional. Conversations flowed, the relations floated, photographs plunged and my own follow its browsing knowing that there are ties and commitments that are forever
Abstract : In Brazil, Mental and Behavioral Disorders (MBD) are among the second and the third leading cause of absenteeism in the public and private sector, respectively. When a worker falls ill and legally proves that the misfortune is related with his or her work, they are entitled to a number of guarantees, among them to receive compensation for damage to their health and integrity. In the lawsuit, to understand whether there is a relationship between the MBD and labor, the judge may appoint an expert in the psi (psychologist or psychiatrist) field. Given the importance of the production of knowledge about the work of the psychologist within the legal framework, especially in this kind of evaluation, the aim of this thesis was to analyze the role of psychological Work-related MBD expertise in the Labor Court (WMBD). The research is documentary and the observed data were: (1) 172 judgments of the Labor Justice of indemnity claims for WMBD that mentioned a report or other information offered by a psychologist and (2) 50 psychological reports (47 psychological reports and three technical advice), attached to lawsuits and proceedings arising from investigations of links between WMBD. The results show that: (1) in terms of characterization of judgments , 76 of 172 were processed at the TRT4 (Local Labor Court 4) (Rio Grande do Sul); the nature of the work of the most significant legal employment of the psychologist as an expert was to be appointed for that purpose, or as a ad hoc professional, in 132 of the judgements; the largest number of actions brought by professional category was related to workers working in banking, 36 actions, and depression was the prevalent psychopathology in 112 cases. The analysis of the content of the decisions showed that the psychological evaluation based solely on interviews with the worker, disregarding other procedures such as inspection of the workplace, are, generally, considered by the judges as partial evidence, not offering enough evidence of the claims of the worker. Example is that in cases where the result of the expertise was based in the link between WMBD and the outcome of the trial, the basic procedure of the expertise was based in an interview with the author of the claim, a situation that was expressively criticized by magistrates. Confusing, contradictory and obscure reports, which language contained professional jargon, value judgments and technical inaccuracies had excerpts transcribed in decisions by the judges and were reputed as inept or inadequate. In six cases in which corporate lawyers were fired, questions were raised about the technical capacity of the psychologist to perform reports on WBMD, and requests were made for the the annulment of the technical examination made by the psychologist. In all cases, the judges understood that the psychologists had technical and professional competence for that kind of expertise, based on the legal stamp and normative of the category. (2) In the analysis of psychological reports and expert opinions, which were based on the CFP Resolution 007/2003, it was revealed that only 14 of the 50 reports described the demand according to the rules set out in this document, only 25 exhibited the procedure or method of work; psychological interview was mentioned as one of the instruments of the procedure in 49 papers, and in 30 studies the interview was performed only with the worker; psychological tests were cited as part of the procedure in 27 reports; surprisingly, the expert assessment of the work environment was performed in only seven of 50; the use of theoretical foundations was found in 19 papers. The conclusion that emerges from this study is the importance of including in the expert procedure the technical visit to the work environment. Thus, it is fundamental for expert psychologists operating in the labor context (evaluating WMBD) to leave the safe environment of their offices towards the location of the begetting of the illnesses targeted by the author, namely to proceed to perform the psychological evaluation in a way that the observed phenomena are placed in their original context. Fundamental to its operation is not to forget that the conclusion of their work will impact directly the lives of the workers under assessment. It is essential that psychologists recognize the extent of the power granted to them when they perform or take part in forensic processes and manufactures their documents, to adopt a responsible and ethical stance. Acting this way, they can more adequately assist in enforcing rights and guarantees to workers' health
A. Gray
Characteristics of meat, pet, and research rabbit farms in Brazil: An overview based on twelve farms
[EN] Rabbit production has great growth potential in a country where animal production is very important. However, there is little data about this industry in Southern and Southeast Brazil. The aim of this study was to describe Brazilian rabbit farms that provide meat, pets and animals for learning or research. Three pet farms, four meat farms and five research rabbit farms were visited, and the production and farm characteristics data were collected between June 2018 and March 2019. A total of 1170 rabbits and 617 cages were evaluated. Most farms had 21 to 60 (58.3%) does. Considering all farms, the farmers reported an average rate of conception of 71.8%, prolificacy rate of 6.7 kits per parturition, average interval between parturitions of 65 d and 6.3 parturitions/doe yr. The mean mortality rate for breeding rabbits was 10.4%, compared to 1.7% for growing rabbits (rabbits post-weaning until slaughter or sale). The average area of a cage was 0.43±0.1 m², with an average stocking density for growing rabbits of 3 rabbits/m². The most common cage system used by farmers was a flat-deck (66.7% of farms) system with a wire cage (91.7%). Metal (41.7%) and clay (33.3%) feeders were the most common types of feeders, and automatic nipple drinkers were present in 75% of the farms. Dirt accumulation was observed in 11.2% of the cages and 5.7% of the drinkers, but not in feeders. A total of 4.1% of the cages were considered unsafe, and 0.8% had problems with the drinkers. The farms studied ranged from small to medium in size, used an extensive reproductive rhythm and followed basic production techniques. Animal health and management aspects need to be reviewed by the farmer if the rabbit production conditions are to improve.: This study was financed in part by the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior – Brazil (CAPES) – Finance Code 001. We especially thank all the farmers who agreed to participate in this study.Silva, KGD.; Borges, TD.; Costa, LB.; Sotomaior, CS. (2021).
