An Unknown Poem by Anna z Mycielskich Radziwiłłowa
Th is paper is an edition of a work by Anna z Mycielskich Radziwiłłowa: Opisanie
choroby J[aśnie] O[świeconej] Księżnej J[ej] M[oś]ci Anny z Mycielskich Radziwiłłowej,
w niebezpieczeństwie życia zostającej i od doktorów opuszczoną będąc, cudem Pana
Jezusa Antokolskiego i Matki Najśw[iętszej] Ostrobromskiej uzdrowiona, sama opisała
1753 [A description of the sickness of Her Enlightened Grace Duchess Anna z Mycielskich
Radziwiłłowa, who facing the risk of death, and being deserted by doctors,
was wonderfully healed by Jesus of Antakalnis and Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn,
which she penned herself in the year 1753].
Th e paper was prepared on the basis of a manuscript from the Baworowski Library,
currently in the collection of Th e L’viv National Vasyl Stefanyk Scientifi c Library
of Ukraine. Its introduction draws on the available sources—mainly a paper
by Jakub Bajer and Andrea Mariani: Macocha idealna. Aktywność Anny Luizy z Mycielskich
w świetle francuskiej korespondencji dyplomatycznej (1764–1765) [A Perfect
Step-Mother. Th e Activity of Anna Luiza z Mycielskich in the Light of Frech Diplomatic
Correspondence (1764–1765)]; and an entry by Hanna Dymnicka-Wołoszyńska
in Th e Polish Biographical Dictionary: Radziwiłłowa z Mycielskich Anna
Ludwika Karolina Kunegunda (1729–1771). It presents the mid-18th century author
taking into account her relations with the Radziwiłł family in Nesvizh, yet before her
marriage with Leon Michał Radziwiłł, her later family life, and her cultural activity
in the Nesvizh estate– both as an actress and a writer. Th e above-mentioned papers are the only sources describing the life of Anna z Mycielskich
from a wider perspective. To date, researchers have focused mainly on the
life of the relative, Franciszka Urszula Radziwiłłowa. Th e poetical and epistolary
output of Duchess Anna has not yet drawn the attention of literary scholars. Th anks
to the manuscript in Th e L’viv National Vasyl Stefanyk Scientifi c Library of Ukraine
it is now possible to rediscover the literary legacy of the poet, and most importantly,
to examine it. In the introduction, the author not only presents the Duchess’ life, but
also describes her cartulary, which comprises a copy of her work; its provenance is
here identifi ed and the authors of works contained in the cartulary are listed. Th e
edition is supplemented with a brief description of Mycielska’s work, which mentions
places of religious worship in Wilno, the fi gure of Jesus of Antakalnis, and the
Gate of Dawn. It also contains an editorial commentary and transcription principles

Jedno medium nie wystarcza. Z Jadwigą Sawicką rozmawia Anna Kałuża
Anna Kałuża’s conversation with Jadwiga Sawicka, painter, author of textual installations, photographs and objects, focuses primarily on the relationship between visual (pictorial) and textual (written) objects. Sawicka, referring to her works (among others Lucky You, Halka, Spódnica, Sama w lesie, Sama w domu, video collage), talks about the relationship between clothes and signs, letters and images. The conversation also revolves around the question of the politicality of art, its institutional conditions, and the different ways of seeing the linguistic context of paintings.Rozmowa Anny Kałuży z Jadwigą Sawicką, malarką, autorką instalacji tekstowych, fotografii i obiektów, dotyczy przede wszystkim relacji między obiektami wizualnymi (obrazowymi) a tekstowymi (piśmiennymi).

Z mojego okna to jeden z najbardziej znanych
filmów wideo Józefa Robakowskiego. Z kolei mniej znana praca artysty młodszego pokolenia Tobiasza
pierwszy rzut oka niezwykle banalny: to widok z okna prywatnego mieszkania. Autorka wpisuje film
Robakowskiego w dodatkowy kontekst, jakim jest kino moralnego niepokoju, tworzące główny nurt
polskiego kina w latach 70. XX wieku, wraz z przypisaną mu kategorią realizmu. Śledzi także autorskie
strategie w obu filmach. In her text Anna Taszycka compares the films of artists from two different generations. From my
window is one of the most widely known films by Józef Robakowski, while the less known work of the
younger artist, Tobiasz Jędrak, already in its title relates to the film of the author of My
videomasochisms. The similarity between them consists for example in the fact that they both seem
relatively simple in formal terms and their topic at first glance seems incredibly trite: a view from the
window of a private flat. The author places the film by Robakowski in additional context of the cinema of
moral anxiety which constituted the main trend of the Polish cinema in 1970s with its category of
realism. She also follows author’s strategies in both films pointing to similarities as well as differences
between them
Differential cytopathology and kinetics of measles oncolysis in T=two primary B-cell malignancies provides mechanistic insights
Clinical trials using vaccine measles virus (MV) as anticancer therapy are already underway. We compared the oncolytic potential of MV in two B-cell malignancies; adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL, an aggressive leukemia) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL, an indolent leukemia overexpressing Bcl-2) using patient-derived material. In vitro, distinct cytopathological effects were observed between MV-infected primary ALL and CLL cells, with large multinucleated syncytia forming in ALL cultures compared to minimal cell-to-cell fusion in infected CLL cells. Cell viability and immunoblotting studies confirmed rapid cell death in MV-infected ALL cultures and slower MV oncolysis of CLL cells. In cell lines, overexpression of Bcl-2 diminished MV-induced cell death providing a possible mechanism for the slower kinetic of MV oncolysis in CLL. In vivo, intratumoral MV treatment of established subcutaneous ALL xenografts had striking antitumor activity leading to complete resolution of all tumors. The antitumor activity of MV was also evident in disseminated ALL xenograft models. In summary, both ALL and CLL are targets for MV-mediated lysis albeit with different kinetics. The marked sensitivity of both primary ALL cells and ALL xenografts to MV oncolysis highlights the tremendous potential of MV as a novel replicating-virus therapy for adult AL
Anna Grześkowiak-Krwawicz, Czy rewolucja może być legalna? 3 maja 1791 w oczach współczesnych, Warszawa: Wydawnictwo DiG, 2012, 226 s.
Anna Grześkowiak-Krwawicz, Can revolution be legal? May 3rd 1791 in the eyes of contemporaries, Wydawnictwo DiG, Warsaw, 2012, 226 p.The book Could Revolution Be Legal? by Anna Grześkowiak-Krwawicz concerns various aspects of how the Constitution of 3rd May 1791 was established and overthrown. It raises, among others, the question whether the act of passing the Constitution was a revolution for contemporary people and why it was understood as treason by some people, especially from Republican milieus. A lot of attention was paid by the Author to the issue of perception of the Constitution in Poland and abroad as well as to the rise of the myth of 3rd May 1791
The author as the second translator
Paraphrasing the title of Anna Legeżyńska’s text “The translator as the second author” (1999: 20–30), this paper focuses on the role of contact with the author in the translation process. Discussions with the author on certain translation solutions reduce interpretative doubts as seen from the perspective of the translator, while the author is given an opportunity to see his or her text from the perspective of another language. In this text I am referring and quoting selected examples that were included in the letters exchanged with Konstantin Arbienin, the author of “Sleepless Stories” (Сказки на засыпку) whose translation has become the basis for making an audiobook. The project was launched within the activity framework of ‚Perevodka’, a translation section of the Research Association of the Department of Russian Studies at the NCU in cooperation with our friends musicians and graphic artists
The Secrets of Anna Lampel’s Biography
Dotychczasowe ustalenia biograficzne uporządkowano i uzupełniono informacjami m.in. z metrykaliów, przywołano akt zgonu artystki, skomentowano mowę funeralną księdza Jana Dębskiego. This article is devoted to Anna Lampel née Stiegler, a theatre actress of Austrian origin, active on stage in the last two decades of the 18th century. From 1789, she performed in Lviv theatres, first under Franz Bulla, then under Wojciech Bogusławski, with whom she had a relationship. When Bogusławski left Lviv in 1799, she followed him to Warsaw. She died in 1800 in Kalisz; the circumstances of her death remain unknown. Lampel is mentioned in publications by Jerzy Got (Na wyspie Guaxary, 1971) and Zbigniew Raszewski (Bogusławski, 1982). The article takes previous biographical findings and supplements them with information from archive records. The author refers to Lampel’s death certificate and offers a commentary on the funeral speech by Father Jan Dębski. Based on the newly found death certificate of Ewa Lampel, who was born in 1800 in Kalisz and died in 1855 in Warsaw, the author puts forth the hypothesis – corroborated by Raszewski’s suggestions – that Ewa was the child of Anna Lampel and Bogusławski, and that her mother died in childbirth.
