Abstract: This study investigates how Jorge Luis Borges builds Sur neighborhood as mythic space in his first three books of poetry. To this end, we analyzed how the representation of such a space make of it a symbolic and later a mythical space, both in the overall work of the author, but also that individual movement of Borges that achieve the collective imagination of the city. Still we have studied how the personal memory and the imagery is able to create emotional spaces, which constitute the totality of texts by the author

Borges and Old English: analysis of the poem on the exploits of Beowulf, Solomon and Saturn and Battle of Maldon.
The aim of the following paper is to analyse the figure of the Argentine poet Jorge Luis Borges, who is well
known for his works in the Spanish-language fantasy genre, in relation to his interest in Germanic literature.
In particular, he will focus on Old English, a passion born out of his curiosity for his father's culture. His
congenital illness, blindness, which led him to reflect on his origins and compose essays on Old English, will
be discussed. Next, some of the Old English poems that he reinterpreted in his own personal way are
illustrated, they are as follows: The Exploits of Beowulf, Solomon and Saturn and the Battle of Moldan. The
aim is thus to compare these works of Germanic literature with Borges' interpretation of them and to give
an overview of the historical context and the relationship between the author and the Germanic world
Jorge Luis Borges e l’anacronismo
In a short story of Ficciones, Borges presents Pierre Menard, the author of a modern version of Don Quixote. A plagiarism or a deliberate paradoxical anachronism, that questions the whole history of literature through erroneous attributions. It is not an isolated case, as Borges uses the idea of plagiarism in another text: the Chronicles of Bustos Domecq, written with Bioy Casares, where the bold César Paladión seeks fame by publishing, at his expense, works manifestly written by others
From single batholith to global detrital zircon archive: Earth dynamics as seen from zircon Eu anomalies
Due to the continuous reworking of the continental crust and the limited rock record associated with the early Earth, the long-term evolution of the Earth's continental crust is mostly studied using the physically- and chemically-resistant mineral zircon. In particular, the europium anomaly [Eu/Eu* = EuN/(SmN x GdN)0.5; where the subscript N denotes chondrite-normalized] of detrital zircon populations has been proposed as a robust proxy for tracing the evolution of crustal thickness. However, recent studies have made the use of the zircon Eu anomaly for geodynamic reconstructions controversial. To provide new insights into the petrological controls on zircon Eu/Eu*, we first review the zircon archive and the evolution of the Adamello batholith, the largest Tertiary intrusion in the Alps and one of the best-studied examples for elucidating the genesis and evolution of continental arc magmas. From the existing extensive zircon archive, the Eu/Eu* in the different intrusive super-units de..
Anatectic granites in their source region: A comparison between experiments, thermodynamic modelling and nanogranitoids
Anatectic granites represent the products of crustal maturation by partial melting, therefore, studies on their origin are crucial to understanding how continental crust forms and evolves. This contribution compares composition of melts obtained from three tools allowing the investigation of anatectic granites in their source region: experiments, phase equilibria modelling and nanogranitoids. Benchmark experimental runs are selected along with nanogranitoids from the Ivrea–Verbano Zone (IVZ; NW Italy) and compositions of melt are then calculated using the same bulk rock compositions considered in experimental and natural case studies. The possible effects of melt loss, diverse P–T paths and variable equilibration volumes on melt composition are modeled for IVZ rocks. Results are then compared with those of previous comparative studies to verify the presence of systematic compositional divergences and similarities. Collectively, all data reflect pressure and temperature conditions (≈700–950 °C and 0.3–1.5 GPa) typical of the suprasolidus orogenic crust, with source regions ranging from metapelite, metagreywacke to metagranite. Contents of FeO, MgO, K2O and, to a lesser extent, CaO in the melt show the largest divergences. FeO, MgO and CaO tend to be enriched in experimental melts and nanogranitoids, whereas K2O is mostly overestimated in calculated melts. After a consideration of the common pitfalls for each approach we discuss the potential causes for the main geochemical discrepancies. The most extreme deviations of FeO and MgO, often observed in low-T (≤ 750 °C) melts, seem to be related to the selected melt models, which have been mostly calibrated on the basis of high-T (≥800 °C) experiments. Some experimental melts tend to be strongly depleted in K2O due to the metastable persistence of micas at much higher temperatures in laboratory runs, whereas the compositions of nanogranitoids in some investigated rocks may be partially controlled by diffusion in the melt. Disequilibrium melting of plagioclase may explain the CaO enrichment observed in some experimental and natural melts. When local equilibration volumes are considered in the calculations, a better match is observed for some oxides (e.g. FeO and MgO) between nanogranitoids and their calculated counterparts, even though other significant divergences remain unaffected. The combination of diverse petrologic tools, with proper recognition of their shortcomings, represent the best approach to shed light into the complexities of melting processes in nature which control the composition of anatectic granites at the source
Borges and Data Sciences in ―The Golem‖
This article consists of an analysis of the mathematical content in the poem” The Golem”
written by the Argentinean author Jorge Luis Borges, in 1958. Our analysis takes in consideration the
deep reflections on Statistics found on the book: Statistical Rethinking (2020) written by Richard
McElreath. We found relevant similitudes between the mathematical content of Borges’ poem, and the
innovative approach to Statistics, and in particular the explanations of Bayesian statistics, as they are
presented on the book authored by McElreath
