Quem És Tu?, de João Botelho. Contaminação de imagens e produção de sentido(s)
This essay proposes a reflection on the presence of painting in Quem És Tu?, the film directed by João Botelho about Frei Luís de Sousa, written by Almeida Garrett. We evoke the legacy of the theoretical formulations developed around the debate on the arts of space and time, in order to shed light upon the function of painting as an instrument of hermeneutic questioning and enlargement. Hence, in a first approach we study the specific function of the concept of “gaze”, introducing the dimension of play and subsequently analyze the particular dialogues with Caravaggio, El Greco and Francis Bacon, through which João Botelho insinuates a pedagogy of the image.
Diffusive author(s), cohesive author: Analysis of S/N (1994)
This study indicates the ways in which various aspects of the author(s) are brought forth in Dumb type’s performance art, the S/N production. Previous research has suggested a non-hierarchical organization of Dumb type and the absence of a “privileged author” in Dumb type’s collaborative work, S/N. However, the results that I have investigated from member’s interviews on the creative process of S/N along with my analysis of the recorded images of S/N, indicate a different aspect of the author(s). First, S/N was created through, so to speak, the collective ideas of the members of Dumb type. Further, S/N has at least nine quotations from previous performances, installations, and printed writings, besides the work-in-progress technique. Explicating one of the “author functions” as given by Michel Foucault, each text has plural subjects of the author. However, it has been revealed from members’ interviews that Teiji Furuhashi had a decision-making role in selecting the members’ ideas within the performance. Since then, S/N has had plural subjects of creation; however, Furuhashi is one of the subjects of creation along with the “privileged author.” S/N has plural authors (diffusive authors) yet at the same time, it has a “privileged author,” Teiji Furuhashi (cohesive author)

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Miguel Botelho de Calvalho's Poetry. Study and edition of "Fábula de Píramo y Tisbe" (1621) and "Rimas Varias" (1646)
Tesis inédita de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Facultad de Filología, Departamento de Filología Española II (Literatura Española), leída el 15/01/2016This doctoral thesis entitled “Miguel Botelho de Calvalho‟s Poetry. Study and edition of Fábula de Píramo y Tisbe (1621) and Rimas Varias (1646)” is born to approach Miguel Botelho de Carvalho‟s (1595-?) life and works. He was a Portuguese poet that lived during the Spanish monarchy reign (1580-1668) and is inexorably referred to in the works of Portuguese poets who wrote in Spanish during the 17th century. The works by this author of which we are certain were written from 1621 to 1646 – namely: an epyllion about the love affairs between Píramo and Tisbe (Fábula de Píramo y Tisbe, Madrid, 1621), a pastoral novel (Prosas y versos del pastor de Clenarda, Madrid 1621), as well as the works printed after his travel to India. This last period includes his narrative poem divided into six cantos, La Filis (1641) and another publication containing two works: a poetic anthology entitled Rimas varias and his approach to drama in Tragicomedia del martir d’Ethiopía (Ruán, 1646). Botelho de Carvalho is constantly being referred to among the critics, above all in general studies about that period. Few of them have delved into the author, nonetheless. The treatment given to writers who are included both in Portuguese and Spanish philosophical streams is still a niche to be explored nowadays and that highly contributes to a deeper knowledge of reality, which is on many occasions not looked at...Depto. de Literaturas Hispánicas y BibliografíaFac. de FilologíaTRUEunpu
Defense systems are pervasive across chromosomally integrated mobile genetic elements and are inversely correlated to virulence and antimicrobial resistance
13 Pág.Mobile genetic elements (MGEs) are key promoters of microbial evolution. These elements can be located extrachromosomally or integrated into the chromosome. Well-known examples of chromosomally integrated MGEs (ciMGEs) are integrative and conjugative/mobilizable elements (ICEs and IMEs), and most studies to date have focused on the biological mechanisms that shape their lifestyle. It is crucial to profile the diversity and understand their distribution across the microbial community, as the number of genome sequences increases exponentially. Herein, I scanned a collection of >20 000 bacterial and archaeal non-redundant genomes and found over 13 000 ciMGEs across multiple phyla, representing a massive increase in the number of ciMGEs available in public databases (<1000). Although ICEs are the most important ciMGEs for the accretion of defense systems, virulence, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes, IMEs outnumbered ICEs. Moreover, defense systems, AMR, and virulence genes were negatively correlated in both ICEs and IMEs. Multiple ciMGEs form heterogeneous communities and challenge inter-phylum barriers. Finally, I observed that the functional landscape of ICEs was populated by uncharacterized proteins. Altogether, this study provides a comprehensive catalog of nucleotide sequences and associated metadata for ciMGEs from 34 phyla across the bacterial and archaeal domains.Maria Zambrano [UP2021-035 to J.B.]; Severo Ochoa Program for Centres of Excellence in R&D from the Agencia Estatal de Investigacion of Spain [CEX2020-000999-S (2022–2025)]. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
