Winter resistance and frost resistance of cultivars of groundcover roses introduced to M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine

Material and methods. The subject of research – 20 cultivars of roses of the garden group “groundcover” from the collection of NBG. Field research on winter resistance was conducted in 2012–2017 in NBG according to the method of N.K. Vekhov (1957) with supplements of M.V. Besschotnova (1975). Frost resistance was investigated by the laboratory method of direct freezing of shoots in 2014 in the laboratory of the Institute of Horticulture of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine using methodology “Laboratory and field methods for determining the frost resistance of fruit trees and crops” (2013).
Results. The results of studying of the winter resistance (field method) are confirmed by the results of studying of frost resistance (laboratory method). The method of direct freezing of shoots has the advantages: it identifies the potential stability of the cultivar, and it can be used as an express method.
Conclusions. The investigated cultivars of groundcover roses have varying degrees of winter resistance and frost resistance. 15 cultivars, which are the most winterresistant and frostresistant (potentially resistant to «critical» temperatures), we recommended for using in landscaping in the Right-Bank of Forest-Steppe of Ukraine

A careful reading of this text reveals important truths about the relationship between free individual personhood and the nature of the speech utterance. Bakhtin connects the human experience of speech to the life and person of Jesus Christ emphasizing the incarnation and the Trinitarian view of God as essential principles for understanding the creative power of the word and consequent liabilities. Bakhtin develops these theological and philosophical coordinates around a discussion of the author-hero relationship in the novel asserting that the verbal utterance is creatively involved in building and sustaining the inner personhood of those it addresses. Bakhtin\u27s critical conclusion substantiates that from whom a word is received, and to whom the spoken word appeals has weighty influence on the type and character of human personality, and that personality\u27s relationship to authority

Introduction of Stevia rebaudiana (Bert.) Bertoni plants in M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine
Get PDFThe results of long-term studies of Stevia rebaudiana (Bert.) Bertoni are presented, viz. plant morphology parameters, propagation, cultivation, constituents. Stevia is characterized by significant food and medicinal properties and is promising introduced species in Ukraine. In M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden the valuable gene pool is accumulated which has numbered more than 20 forms. The nutritional media and environment needs for introduction to the culture in vitro and long-term storage of plant and also their regeneration from leaf explants. The content of antioxidants (flavonoids and ascorbic acid) in stevia raw material has been evaluated. The leaves of Stevia rebaudiana have been accumulated the diterpeneglycosides up to approximately 6–7 % (to dry weight). This is dynamic indicator that depends on Stevia form and cultivation conditions. Maximal accumulation of steviosides was observed in open ground plants in budding-bloo ming phases. Stevia rebaudiana plants regardless of the form and the cultivation conditions (open and protected ground, in vitro) are characterized by low levels of drought tolerance. Plants growing in open ground conditions demonstrate higher drought tolerance compared with plants in vitro. The biggest water-retaining capacity, both in soil and in vitro conditions, is found in form R100, the lowest – in form 3T
Conservative treatment of avascular necrosis of the femoral head (literature review)
No full textIntroduction Avascular necrosis of the femoral head is a debilitating disease affecting people of working age and having an important medical and social role. Total hip arthroplasty is the only effective treatment for late stages of necrosis. Various joint-preserving operations and non-surgical methods can be successfully used for less severe types. There is no unequivocal opinion on the effectiveness of various conservative treatments offered for avascular necrosis of the femoral head. The aim was to summarize data on the role of medications and physiotherapy in treatment of avascular necrosis of the femoral head through the analysis of the modern world literature. Material and methods The original literature search was conducted on key resources including elibrary, PubMed and ResearchGate. Results Outcomes of avascular necrosis of the femoral head treated conservatively were overviewed. The effectiveness of various treatments using bisphosphonates, anticoagulants, statins, prostacyclin derivatives was evaluated. Physiotherapy with shock wave therapy, pulsating electromagnetic fields, and hyperbaric oxygenation was also reviewed. Conservative treatment is reported to be effective only for early (pre-collapse) stages of avascular necrosis of the femoral head. Conclusions A conservative treatment used as a monotherapy for AVN cannot be assessed as a standalone procedure because various combinations of comprehensive treatment are used for the majority of patients. There are no studies in the literature comparing the effectiveness of conservative therapies using iloprost and statins, bisphosphonates and anticoagulants, shockwave and hyperbaric oxygen therapy in homogeneous patient samples. A deeper study of the underlying pathogenesis of avascular necrosis of the femoral head is required to develop personalized treatment strategies. © Panin M.A., Boiko A.V., Abakirov M. Plant introduction, conservation and enrichment of biodiversity in M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine
Get PDFThe paper deals with the main achievements of scientists of M.M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the NAS of Ukraine (NBG) in scientific, conservation, cultural and educational activities. The results of researches on biodiversity, conservation, plants protection, introduction, acclimatization and selection, allelopathy, medical botany, landscape design, bioindication and hemosystematycs are given. It is noted that over 14 thousands species, forms and varieties of plants, are collected in NBG, and the most unique collections attributed to the objects of national heritage. Breeders have obtained more than 300 certificates or author ship on plant varieties. NBG carries out extensive international cooperation, several new exposition of plant collection appeared in Botanical Garden. In recent years the achievements of NBG scientists were awarded by two State Awards in the field of science and technology of Ukraine
