Authorship and resistance: Carolina Maria Jesus in discourse
Além do mais, ao materializar sentidos sobre a escola em sua obra e também trabalhar uma literatura-filosófica, por meio de uma escrita-indagadora, esse sujeito-autor trabalha o interdiscurso no intradiscurso a fim de construir o seu projeto artístico literário, trazendo outras geografias literárias a partir do seu não-lugar na historiografia da literatura brasileiraFrom the foundations of the French Discourse Analysis, built by Michel Pêcheux, this research aimed to investigate the way Carolina Maria de Jesus, in the position of subject-to-author, through her first work, Room of Eviction: diary of a favelada (2014), published in 1960, and also of the work, Diário de Bitita (2016), was related to writing and is the author of literature. Specifically, we sought to investigate, in the authorship marks of this subject, the effects of senses of resistance that make this literary production can be recognized as social coping literature, which plays the game of literary politics, Finally, contributing to the reflection of the absence of black authors in school and other institutions, pointing out, therefore, some questions about this silencing. For this, we selected clippings that could bring linguistic marks of the subject-author\'s relationship with writing, so that it was possible to analyze the author\'s process of authorship through resistance. The analyzes point out that the writing of Carolina Maria de Jesus is an act of resistance because it breaks with an imaginary formation of author (white, middle class, with a high level of education, intellectual), as well as creaks the literary politics that works. canonizing certain authors and their works and interdicting others. The subject-to-author to discursivize about the hunger of writing and the writing of hunger by the poetic textures, causes the formation of a literature of social coping. Moreover, by materializing meanings about the school in his work and also working a philosophical lit-erature, by means of a research-writing, this subject-author works the interdiscourse in the intradiscourse in order to build his literary artistic project, bringing other literary geographies from their non-place in the historiography of Brazilian literatur
This dissertation investigates how the pact of whiteness and the power relations intrinsic to the Brazilian literary system reverberate in the works and career of Carolina Maria de Jesus. The objective is to evaluate to what extent these dimensions permeate Carolina's prose and how the white elite, firmly established in the literary system, manipulated power resources, erecting obstacles to the writer’s professional advancement. The methodology used is based on content analysis of Carolina Maria de Jesus' texts, bibliographic review of her intellectual production, and analysis of various documents. The results show that power relations in the national literary system significantly impacted the creative activity of the author from Minas Gerais, manifesting more forcefully in the diaries Quarto de Despejo and Casa de Alvenaria, which constitute part of the empirical material of this research. Both works reveal the impact of the pact of whiteness not only on the writer's artistic development but also on her social trajectory.CNPqEsta dissertação investiga como o pacto da branquitude e as relações de poder intrínsecas ao sistema literário brasileiro reverberam nas obras e na carreira de Carolina Maria de Jesus.
The Chameleons, by Maria Beltran, and the gifted children in commented version
Literature for children and adolescents, including illustrated books, is an important element in
the Brazilian publishing industry, as the school system encourages the acquisition of books for
children and young people. In this context, translated literature has had a relevant presence,
preceding Brazilian authors in the formation of national literature of the genre, which continues to gain
importance in academic discourse, especially in the field of Translation Studies. Maria Beltran is a
psychologist, author and illustrator of a book for children in Catalan, which brings together
entertainment and information about highly gifted children and young people, and dedicated to people
with these characteristics. The author is not known in Brazil and this study seeks to introduce her to
the country through the translation of her book. The present work is a qualitative research, which deals
with the translation into Brazilian Portuguese of her work Camaleons, els colors de les altes capacitats
(2018), also including a brief account of the history of Catalan and reflections on minority languages.
In this study, the translation of children's and youth literature in Brazil and its relationship with
education is discussed, based on the works of Leonardo Arroyo (1990), Nelly Novaes Coelho (2010),
Marisa Lajolo and Regina Zilbermann (2007), Heloisa Gonçalves Barbosa and Lia Wyler (2009).
Considerations on paradidactic books are being made, using the publication of MEC / SEF (1997) and
the article by Laguna (2012). It also seeks to discuss aspects of translation, referring to illustration
(non-verbal text); adaptation of adult repertoire for children; commented translation, paratexts
(accompanying speeches and morphological aspects), based on the texts of Gunther R. Kress and
Theo van Leeuwen (1996, 2001), Gérard Genette (2009), Linda Hutcheon (2011), Göte Klingberg

for an Introduction by the Translator for an eventual publication of the translation, with the intention of
providing the reader with support for understanding.
First, in the 60's, when she published her first book Quarto de despejo. Diário de uma favelada, achieving greater sales success than any other writer of his time. However, her work immediately fell into the deepest oblivion until, little by little, at the beginning of this century it began to take on dimension to the point that today it is being republished by Companhia das Letras, the largest Brazilian publishing group.
Abstract: The presence of blacks in the Brazilian literary scene has become more visible in recent decades. Although in the past this main role was more timid, especially when it comes to black women, this presence today is quite expressive. Carolina Maria de Jesus, despite of prejudice and discrimination, is one of the many Afro-descendant writers who had achieved prominence in the literary medium. Through her writing, she showed the situation of poverty, misery and exclusion she suffered during her life. Thus, this article aims to analyze the work Diário de Bitita (Bitita’s Diary, 1986), focusing on aspects such as blackness and belonging. More specifically, we sought to understand how the racial issue and the idea of belonging are addressed in the referred work, in addition to discussing how the author dealt with these issues in her childhood and adolescence. Therefore, support was sought in the theoretical contributions of Cixous (2017), Fanon (2008), Hall (2005), among others. It was observed that Carolina Maria de Jesus uses her writing as an instrument to denounce the situation of poor and, especially of black people, in the face of a society dominated by an Eurocentric conception that privileges whites over blacks. Facing the prejudice, discrimination and exclusion experienced by Bitita, she often wished to have white skin to enjoy the same rights as white people. Keywords: writing; blackness; belonging; Diário de Bitita

This paper deals with Carolina Maria de Jesus' novel Pieces of Hunger, published in 1963. The study aimed to analyze the female identity, especially of the woman in contemporary society and the ills surrounding this character reflecting on the mendacity through which a desireless and distant minority of human problems is filled by the hunger and the widespread misery and the inherent conflicts. Carolina Maria de Jesus, in this case, presents to the reading public, through this work, a female figure, apparently submissive in a society based on the prerogatives of patriarchy. Likewise, the author discusses the various social roles played by the representation of women in the corpus. The present inquiry made an analysis turning the attention to the construction of the feminine identity of the protagonist Maria Clara, in her social role of woman and wife, investigating the intertwining of the expression of the interiority to the unveiling of the conflicts between the individuals and of those with the modern world, apparently void of values and full of arbitrariness, beyond the clash between obedience and imitation of performances historically instituted as immanent to the female gender and the rejection of these postures. This work intended to examine female identity in the Carolingian novel through theorists such as Bauman (2005), Hall (2005), Machado (2006), Schwantes (2006), Zolin (2005) and Butler (2003).O trabalho versa sobre a obra romanesca Pedaços da fome, de Carolina Maria de Jesus, publicada em 1963.
Self-writing as a construction of the subjectivity of the author Carolina Maria de Jesus: analysis of discursive fragments of the book Child of the Dark
The story of Carolina Maria de Jesus is still not well known to the Brazilian public, not even to those who today produce or consume the so called marginal literature. However, the representativeness of her work for the voices that remain silenced is fundamental as a precursor and a inspiration. A resident of the slums in Canindé, in the north of São Paulo, Carolina met the journalist Audálio Dantas on one of his visits to the area. This approximation resulted in the publication of her diaries, in which she described the daily life of the community like no one else had done it, in notebooks that she found in the trash. The author, a black woman, is one of the pioneers of Black Literature. As the protagonist of her story, she brought in her discourse the resistance and confrontation to power in order to overcome the codes that sustained social inequality in the country. Carolina was fully aware that she was a writer and that she had something to say about the locus where she found herself. In this way, it was important to observe how these peripheral voices became visible through Carolina in the 50s, until the author was silenced by the media, in the dictatorial period. This research aims to analyze the discursive fragments of Carolina Maria de Jesus in the book Quarto de Despejo: diário de uma favelada (Child of the Dark: The Diary of Carolina Maria de Jesus), having as objectives: to identify the historical and social context from which the author produces her discourse, to analyze through self-writing her self-construction as a writer/author/poet that placed herself against the status quo, to investigate how was media’s reception of her work in 1960, then how it silenced her and resumed it from the 1980s onwards. The theoretical-methodological framework of this research was based on Foucaultian Discursive Studies (archegenealogy) which brings in its theoretical framework fundamental concepts for the development of this research, such as the notions of the subject, the construction of subjectivities through self-writing and relationships with the knowledge and power to understand who Carolina was, where she produced her discourse from and why this author's discourse carries such strength that even though she was invisible for a period, it strongly returns today. We believe that, after analyzing the discourse of the writer Carolina Maria de Jesus, society and the media, as studied in Foucaultian thought, seek to control, make invisible and silence the subjects who do not hold power. Carolina has shown how important literature (self-writing) was in her life in two ways: the redefinition of truth that constituted a new Carolina, as well as the act of denouncing when portraying violence, misery, hunger, inhumanity which is life in an environment abandoned by the State and society, such as the slums

International audienceThistext is devoted to the analysis of the French and English translations of Carolina Maria de Jesus' book, Quarto de despejo. This diary of a mother of three children living in the Canindé favela in São Paulo in the 1950s was a worldwide success by revealing the terrible living conditions of those excluded from Brazilian metropolises. But the emphasis on its sociological dimension in the translations may have obscured part of the work's uniqueness, due in particular to the personality and style of the author. The article therefore examines certain characteristics of translations published in the 1960s, offering a critique and translation alternatives based on taking into account the personal dimension of the work.
