Con papà. Creatività, domesticità e dinamiche familiari nella vicenda di Luce e Elica Balla
Tra molti casi di artiste che il canone modernista ha trascurato o relegato ai margini, quello di Luce ed Elica Balla è singolare per l'intensità quasi morbosa del legame fra le due e il padre Giacomo, figura chiave del Futurismo italiano. Il saggio esamina le dinamiche familiari di casa Balla e il rapporto artistico tra le due donne e il padre, indicando come quest'ultimo non sia stato a senso unico. La vicinanza alle figlie contribuisce infatti a spingere Balla a invertire la direzione della "ricostruzione futurista dell'Universo", che invece di proiettarsi dall'universo individuale verso l'esterno si proietta dalla città e dalla vita moderna nella quotidianaità femminile e domestica; così come, nella fase postfuturista, ne asseconda l'adesione all'universo "femminile" della cultura di massa, rispecchiato dalla fotografia di moda e dai rotocalchi
Modelling of microelectronic processes and materials
Organic electronics promises the creation of electronic components on flexible materials at low temperatures, by fast techniques and more environmentally friendly processes. The research followed two directions. The first part focused on the manufacturing technique nanoimprint lithography (NIL). A comprehensive review was undertaken and process capabilities were compared for trends. It was seen that small feature sizes (< 50 nm) have not been replicated over areas greater than 4 mm2, while aspect ratios greater than 10 have not been achieved. A questionnaire addressing market opportunities suggested NIL is likely to compete for the production of devices that currently use electron beam lithography and laser writing processes that are seeking to change their business strategy from a differentiation base to a cost reduction. NIL must also prove to customers that it is an economical investment. However, improvements in stamp creation, analysis techniques and overlay alignment need to be addressed for a larger share of the microfabrication market. It was apparent that physical limits exist to which imprints can be produced and an analytical model could predict these. A model was created to describe the de-embossing step and to explore how the various material properties and process variables interact. It showed a very strong dependence on the achievable aspect ratio on the pattern area ratio and the interfacial shear stress; that de-embossing using fluorinated coatings and current standard polymers is unlikely to fail for post radii on the order of 100 nm due to adhesion and that large area ratios and aspect ratios are more easily achieved by maintaining the polymer/stamp Young’s moduli ratio (RE) in the range 0.003 to 5.The second part of the research looked at the formation of crescent singularities in thin sheet materials, which affects the production of polymer electronic based devices produced by the sponsoring company. The author compared an analytical model by Cerda and Mahadevan for the formation of developable cones (d-cones) to a finite element (FE) model and showed that explicit elements could mimic the formation of a d-cone. Different elements were analysed for their suitability and the Belytschko-Lin-Tsay (BT) element was chosen based on its speed, robustness and similarity to the analytical results. An adapted three-point bend test set-up was conceived that would enable specific attributes to be independently varied, to understand their effect on d-cone formation in thin sheets. Digital image correlation (DIC) was used to calculate the displacements and strains. The same set-up was modelled using an FE model with the chosen BT element. The DIC results showed a variation in strain with plunger displacement before the visual appearance of a developable cone and that it occurred between 0.1 and 0.4 % in-plane strain. The FE data showed a similar trend to the DIC results, showing a change in strain once a d-cone began to form. Improvements and suggestions were then made advising how to make the DIC and FE models more accurate

Tappa fondamentale del suo percorso è rappresentata dal Manifesto della Ricostruzione futurista dell’universo, segnando una svolta radicale nella poetica futurista. L’obiettivo non è solo estetico, ma esistenziale: ricostruire il mondo attraverso l’arte, trasformando la realtà in una continua esperienza creativa. A partire da questo momento, Giacomo Balla si dedica con crescente intensità alla sperimentazione nel campo delle arti applicate, dando vita a un linguaggio visivo e progettuale che coinvolge ambiti eterogenei: dall’arredamento all’abbigliamento, dalla grafica alla scenografia teatrale e cinematografica.One cannot speak of Futurism without mentioning Giacomo Balla, a central figure in this Italian avant-garde movement. Balla came into contact with Futurism thanks to his pupil Umberto Boccioni, but he soon established a leadership role that would go on to profoundly influence the direction of the movement and the Italian art scene of the early 20th century. A milestone on his path is represented by the Manifesto of the Futurist Reconstruction of the Universe, marking a radical turning point in Futurist poetics. The goal is not only aesthetic, but existential: to reconstruct the world through art, transforming reality into a continuous creative experience. From this moment on, Giacomo Balla devoted himself with increasing intensity to experimentation in the field of applied arts, giving rise to a visual and design language involving heterogeneous fields: from furniture to clothing, from graphics to theatrical and film set design
Eksplorasi Etnomatematika Pada Rumah Adat Balla Lompoa Doman Kale Balla
This study explores the application of ethnomathematics in the traditional Balla Lompoa house, a cultural heritage of the Gowa Kingdom. Ethnomathematics, as a branch of knowledge connecting mathematics with local culture, is used to analyze the architectural elements of the house. The focus of the research is on the Kale Balla section, with the aim of identifying the mathematical concepts embedded in the building\u27s design, such as spatial proportions, geometric patterns, and symmetry in the house’s structure. The research employs an ethnographic methodology with a qualitative approach, involving observation, interviews, and literature review. The findings reveal that the Balla Lompoa house embodies values of balance, stability, and harmony through geometric shapes such as cubes, rectangles, and rhombuses. Furthermore, this study shows that ethnomathematics plays a role not only in education but also in preserving cultural knowledge and providing deeper understanding of the relationship between mathematics and culture in the Makassar community. This research highlights the importance of integrating ethnomathematical concepts in teaching to enhance contextual and culture-based mathematical understanding
ETNOBOTANI TUMBUHAN BERKHASIAT OBAT DI KAWASAN HUTAN DESA BALLA TUMUKA KABUPATEN MAMASA
Abstract
People of Balla Tumuka Village, Mamasa Regency have a tradition of traditional medicine using plants originating from forest areas to cure various diseases. The tradition of traditional medicine by the community has been passed down from generation to generation and is supported by natural resources found in the Balla Tumuka Village forest. This study aims to determine the types of medicinal plants and how they are used by the people of Balla Tumuka Village. The research method is descriptive exploratory with in-depth interview data collection techniques on 43 respondents. The results of the study found that there were 17 types of plants used by tje community for treatment, including Ageratum conyzoides, Hyptis capitata, Spatholobus ferrugenus, Agathis dammara and others. The parts of the plant used are leaves, stems, roots, fruit, sap and tubers. The processing method is by boiling, burning, pounding and eating directly. Diseases that can be treated such as cuts, ulcers, diabetes, coughs, cholesterol.

Tradisi pengobatan tradisional oleh masyarakat berlangsung secara turun-temurun dan didukung oleh sumber daya alam yang terdapat pada hutan Desa Balla Tumuka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis tumbuhan obat dan cara pemanfaatannya oleh masyarakat Desa Balla Tumuka. Metode penelitian adalah deskriptif eksploratif dengan Teknik pengumpulan data wawancara mendalam pada 43 orang responden. Hasil penelitian menemukan ada 17 jenis tumbuhan yang digunakan masyarakat untuk pengobatan, diantaranya Ageratum conyzoides, Hyptis capitata, Spatholobus ferrugenus, Agathis dammara dan lainnya. Bagian tumbuhan yang digunakan adalah daun, batang, akar, buah, getah dan umbi. Cara pengolahannya dengan direbus, dibakar, ditumbuk dan dimakan langsung. Penyakit yang dapat diobati seperti luka sayat, maag, kencing manis, batuk, kolesterol.

Giacomo Balla e le Compenetrazioni iridescenti: approfondimenti e novità documentarie
Nel saggio si precisa, attraverso l’esame di dati filologici finora inediti o poco considerati, l’evoluzione dell’opera
di Balla tra la fine del 1912 e del 1913. Si tratta del periodo più cruciale per l’evoluzione del Futurismo dell’artista,
che attraverso l’elaborazione delle Compenetrazioni iridescenti e conseguentemente delle Velocità astratte, raggiunge
una novità espressiva autonoma e originale non solo all’interno del movimento ma delle avanguardie storiche
europee. Le fasi e i tempi di questa fondamentale elaborazione mostravano finora incertezze e contraddizioni,
che nel saggio vengono risolte non solo nella precisa progressione cronologica, ma nello svolgimento concettuale
che evidenzia il significato delle Compenetrazioni. Nella seconda parte del saggio, grazie a un documento inedito
(il primo inventario delle Compenetrazioni iridescenti redatto nello studio di Balla), si ricostruisce il nucleo di opere
eseguite nel 1912-1913, e si delinea un nucleo di riprese successive operate dall’artista per incrementarne il gruppo
(eseguite tra la fine anni Quaranta e l’inizio anni Cinquanta), da iscriversi nel clima del rinnovato interesse da parte
dei giovani artisti e della critica del dopoguerra per il Futurismo “astrattista” e particolarmente per la figura dello
stesso Balla, che viene allora considerato un pioniere dell’astrazione non-oggettiva
