    No full text
North Sumatra has become an interesting political battleground, particularly between the Bobby Nasution-Surya and Edy Rahmayadi-Hasan Basri candidate pairs, ahead of the 2024 regional elections.  This paper explores these political dynamics through a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing in-depth interviews with political observers and potential voters, as well as document analysis to collect primary and secondary data. Thematic analysis was applied to identify patterns in issue management strategies. The research reveals the key issues that influence people's preferences, such as infrastructure development, public services, and health. The findings show an increase in community engagement, especially among the younger generation, who are becoming more critical in their choices. Inclusive and transparent communication strategies are key to building public trust, while social media plays an important role in shaping perceptions of candidates, despite the challenges of disinformation. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of strategy adaptation by candidate pairs to meet public expectations and drive the desired positive change in North Sumatra

    A question of trust

    No full text
Introduction Trust Many things we hold to be true, we can neither discover nor prove ourselves. Claims about the world often rely on specialised or esoteric knowledge, on information that we cannot access, or on experiences that we have not had. We often rely on other people and institutions – experts, governments, journalists, our friends and family – to decide what is true and false, to make decisions and take actions. We believe secondhand knowledge because of who provides it. When we believe people and institutions are capable and able sources, and also ones acting with credibility and integrity, we ‘trust’ them. Trust is one of the most important concepts for explaining each of our intellectual and moral worlds, and our relationship with the people, institutions, technologies and processes that surround and shape our lives. When well placed, trust is a social good, foundational to a healthy democracy, and vitally necessary for human beings to work confidently with one another. Holding trust is an important asset for governments, organisations and individuals. Reasonable scepticism and criticism of institutions and individuals is important: to hold the powerful to account, to challenge conventions, to produce new solutions, and to enable genuine choice. However, when mistrust is high and generalised, it is harmful. It increases friction in society, makes interactions between people more difficult, and undermines the capacity of government to benefit the people it serves. Measuring trust is important to understand society, to know how messages are understood, how organisations and processes are interacted with, and why individually and collectively we make the choices that we do. It is an important part of sociology, and a vital requirement of informed public policy

This legal paper explains the system of distribution of inheritance assets in Bibiosi Village, Keerom Regency, Papua Province. Where the system of distribution of customary inheritance in Bibiosi Village is different from other customary laws. The author aims to understand how the system of inheritance distribution procedures is based on customary law and what is the role of Customary Institutions in the distribution of inheritance procedures and if there are conflicts during the inheritance distribution process. The research method used in this study is empirical research which not only discusses theories about customary inheritance law, but the author examines directly and observes what happens according to the conditions in Bibiosi village. The data sources of this study are primary data and secondary data. Then the data collection technique carried out by the author is by conducting interviews and literature studies. Based on the results of research and discussion on the system of procedures for the distribution of customary inheritance in Bibiosi Village, that is, indigenous people adhere to a patrilineal system where heirs fall to the eldest son and daughter cannot be heirs. However, if the heir has no male heirs, the estate can pass to the eldest daughter, and the eldest daughter can get a share of the estate if the son has a desire to give part of the estate to his sister. Meanwhile, the role of customary institutions as someone who is appointed to be a witness in the process of distributing inheritance and serves as a mediator or mediator in case of disputes

Exact solutions to plaquette Ising models with free and periodic boundaries

AbstractAn anisotropic limit of the 3d plaquette Ising model, in which the plaquette couplings in one direction were set to zero, was solved for free boundary conditions by Suzuki (1972) [1], who later dubbed it the fuki-nuke, or “no-ceiling”, model. Defining new spin variables as the product of nearest-neighbour spins transforms the Hamiltonian into that of a stack of (standard) 2d Ising models and reveals the planar nature of the magnetic order, which is also present in the fully isotropic 3d plaquette model. More recently, the solution of the fuki-nuke model was discussed for periodic boundary conditions, which require a different approach to defining the product spin transformation, by Castelnovo et al. (2010) [2].We clarify the exact relation between partition functions with free and periodic boundary conditions expressed in terms of original and product spin variables for the 2d plaquette and 3d fuki-nuke models, noting that the differences are already present in the 1d Ising model. In addition, we solve the 2d plaquette Ising model with helical boundary conditions. The various exactly solved examples illustrate how correlations can be induced in finite systems as a consequence of the choice of boundary conditions

Indonesia is in an era of globalization, it can be seen by the era of technology that introduced the virtual world (cyberspace, virtual world) through internet networks, communication with electronic media without paper. The development of electronic signature technology has been implemented in Indonesia. The existence of electronic signatures has begun to replace conventional signatures in several places on the grounds of using technology to make it easier. The ІTE Act already guarantees electronic signatures. GMS can be held using electoral media. However, the GMS with electronic media must be approved and signed by the GMS participants. In the notary deed, the minutes of the GMS are included in the release deed. Preparation of a notary deed of the GMS minutes using an electronic system must be signed by all GMS participants. Participants who attend the meeting via video conference can use the signature using the electronic system. Legal Issues in this Research There are unclear norms related to signatures which are described in the Law on Notary Position. This research is normative law research. From the results of the research using the above method, the author obtains answers to the problems regarding the Law of Signing Notary Deeds Using Electronic Signatures. The development of the era and the development of literary science make novels not only fictional. The novel 49 Hari Kisah Penantang Gelombang by Nuril Basri is written based on the reality that occurs in the real world, so it can be called a biographical novel. Starting from human existence in facing a series of extreme problems that arise in real life, then reproduced by the author into a biographical novel. The purpose of this study is to describe the author’s struggling value in writing the novel 49 Hari Kisah Penantang Gelombang. To reveal these values, the theory on the aspect of struggle values will be utilized. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with Abrams' expressive criticism approach to the sociology of the author. The data collection technique used is documentation study. While the data analysis technique is qualitative data analysis. The results of the study show the values of struggle: persistence, patience, never giving up, and the responsibility of a novelist in conducting research to reproduce true stories into literary works in the biographical novel genre

Blockchain Based Certificate Verification System Management

One of the key responsibilities of the Public Key Infrastructure is revocation management. Additionally, the security of any Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) depends on it. Today\u27s revocation methods are susceptible to a single point of failure when network traffic rises due to the growth in the quantity and size of networks as well as the adoption of new paradigms like the Internet of Things and the use of the web. The author uses the strength and resiliency of blockchain to overcome these issues and present a productive decentralized certificate revocation management and status verification system. The author adds a field that specifies which distribution point the certificate will belong to in the event that it is revoked using the certificate structure extension field. Then, the author carries out a thorough assessment of our plan using performance indicators like execution time and data consumption to show that it can fulfill the demands with high effectiveness and little expense. Additionally, the author contrasts the effectiveness of our strategy with two of the most widely-used revocation approaches, namely the Certificate Revocation List and the Online Certificate Status Protocol. The data collected demonstrate that our suggested strategy works better than the existing scheme

Txosten honen bitartez Zuberoako herri bateko bestetan plazaratu ziren zenbait gertakizunen garrantzia soziala ohartarazi nahi nuke. Herri honek Muskildi du izena, eta bestek 1991tik Irailaren 9ra iraun zuten. Hemen agertzen diren datuak, deskripzioak, iradokizunak eta baieztapenak egun eta gau hauetan nik ikusi dudan horretan eta ikusitako horretaz galdetu dudanari emandako erantzunetan dira oinarritzen. Txostenaren xedea bikoitza da: (1) bestako gertakizun ofizial hauen giroaren berri emateaeta (2) bai bestak nola antolatu ziren eta bai antolamendu hau komunitateko bizitzarekin nola zegoen harremandua agertzea. Hala eginez, Zuberoako herrietan aparteko indar soziala duten zenbait "gai" honatu nahi ditut. "Gai" etnografiko hauek, bestalde, balore kulturalen eta ikuspegi sozialaren aldaketa-prozesu baten barnean aztertu behar dugula argudiatzen dut. This paper focuses on the festival behaviour and social events carried out in a small village of a Basque province called Zuberoa during the summer of 1991. On the one hand, the author shows the grounds upon which a festive atmosphere took place. On the other hand, he points out how a model of community was displayed - a model which was in process of change and discussion
