The resistance of local wisdom towards radicalism: the study of the tarekat community of West Sumatra, Indonesia
In West Sumatra, radicalism does not develop and even tends to decease because of the self-defense system of the local society, in the form of the religious and socio-cultural system that arises from the doctrine, values and teachings of Islam practised by the Tarekat community. The study aims to understand the conceptual world of the Tarekat community faith towards radicalism and to explain the struggle of radical idealism in the midst of the dynamics of the religious Tarekat culture in West Sumatra. This research uses the descriptive-phenomenological approach. Focus group discussion was first conducted with the teachers (mursyid) and members of the Tarekat congregation followed by in-depth interviews with the teachers and members of the congregation. Observation was made to examine the socio-cultural conditions of the Tarekat community surrounding their activities in relation to their religious teachings and ideals. This study found that firstly, the fusion of Tarekat teachings with the Minangkabau culture was not conducive to the rise of radical idealism in West Sumatrasecondly, the resilience of Tarekat religious culture and the local wisdom of the Minangkabau prevented radicalism from taking root in the Tarekat community, thus reducing conflict, andthirdly, the opposition of the Tarekat to radicalism seen in its practice of dakwah culture, has shaped its lifestyle and response to the world

SURAU SEBAGAI BASIS ISLAMISASI KULTURAL MASYARAKAT MINANGKABAU
Observing various dakwah activity today, rather feels that the essence of dakwah began to lose value. Dakwah is no longer able to give directions over the life of the Islamic community. Moreover, if the dakwah activity is packed with business media, especially television, this may seem to add “syi'ar”of Islam, but actually she's dragged to the artificiality meaning of divine messages. Dakwah activity tends to significantly spectacle, versus guidance. When studied in the early development of Islamic Dakwah, it’s succeeded in giving the color of people's lives. Dakwah instead act to strengthen the local culture with a strong Islamic characterize. Islam in Minangkabau characterize it has become increasingly apparent. The combination of local and Islamic culture are felt in many Minang people's lives. One of the most influential cultural symbol in Minangkabau is the message of Islam, "surau". This paper seeks to provide an answer to how the concept of “surau” at the development of Islam in Minangkabau, and how the dakwah strategy of the surau, as well as how social functioning surau in the Minangkabau society. The study used a descriptive - phenomenological approach, a method that emphasizes the meaning to the understanding of society. In epistemology, the study is based on empirical generalizations and determination concepts. The results of this study indicate that the meaning of the surau had been developed through a process of social Islamization. Furthermore, surau important role in the development and spread of Islam in Minangkabau, as a center of dakwah and educational activities , as well as the center of social activities. Surau role in maintaining its existence as a social institution in fostering the values of divinity and humanity in the social relations. At the same time, surau has a socially established itself as one of the important parts of the socio-cultural system of the Minangkabau society. So conceptually, surau style education can serve as a role mode propagation methods and strategies based on the knowledge of local cultur
Women in the "Kerangkeng" of Tradition: the Study on the Status of Women in Minangkabau
The system of values, norms and some stereotypes attached to women are one of the factors that giving influences on the position and relationships of women with men in the existing social structure. Each person embraces the system of values or norm which is a consensus and constructed by the community itself than from generation to generation. The emergence of social construction on the status and role of women is the result of the perspective of a community towards their biological differences between men and women. The perspective which then results in oppression, exploitation, and subordination of women in social relations are contextually strongly related to socio-cultural conditions at that time. This section will discuss how women are positioned in the social life and the perspective of the culture of its subordination. Next, it is also described how the emergence of patriarchal ideology, a system that accommodates the interests of men to dominate and control women, as a consequence of the understanding of the nature of women which biologically different to men. The hegemony of patriarchal ideology brings the social awareness for women to accept the conditions of subordination as a natural thing, which is wrapped by the products of culture and tradition. It includes how patriarchal ideology is giving the effect on the system and the tradition of marriage

oai:ojs.journal.febi.uinib.ac.id:article/222This study was aimed to find out and analyzed the factors that encourage the consumer especially among the students who were being the target market of marketer to purchase the product which sold via online in terms of the Islamic Marketing Concept. Research methodology in this research is descriptive quantitative with the primer data and secunder data. The population of the study was the students of Economy Faculty. Meanwhile, the sample which used was 100 respondents. The result of the study showed that from that factors, the dominant factor which encouraged the students of Economy Faculty in Padang City to buy the product via online in terms of Islamic Marketing Concept was : Useful indicator of the goods/product with the mean 4.03, next variables indicator which had major role in encouraging the consumer in online shopping in terms of Islamic Marketing Concept was the indicator of the product was free from gambling with the mean score 3.90, next, it was followed by the indicator of the product is halal with the mean score 3.89, after that, the indicator that there is guarantee of the product/trusted with the mean score 3.55, the last was the indicator free from decetion with the mean score 3.51
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Feminisasi Kemiskinan: Studi Tentang Pengemis Perempuan pada Masyarakat Matrilineal Minangkabau di Sumatera Barat, Indonesia
Tulisan ini mencoba menjelaskan fenomena keterpinggiran kaum perempuan Minangkabu di Sumatera Barat. Beberapa konsep teoritik feminis digunakan untuk menganalisis bagaimana konstruksi sistem sosial masyarakat memposisikan perempuan dalam realitas kehidupannya. Lalu, membaca posisi ketertindasan perempuan dalam kemiskinannya atau kemiskinan perempuan dalam ketertindasannya. Pembahasan ini menjadi penting disebabkan fakta menunjukkan betapa banyak kaum perempuan Minang berjuang melawan kemiskinan yang sering terlihat melawan kodratnya. Pada posisi ini, pembahasan ini diharapkan dapat membuka pemahman atas dominasi perempuan dalam kultur Minangkabau, Sumatera Barat. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptiffenomenologis, sebagai usaha ekplorasi dan klarifikasi yang kemudian menjelaskan fenomana pemiskinan kaum perempuan sebagai realitas sosial. Belenggu kemiskinan perempuan dalam studi ini dilatari oleh dua hal yaitu ketidakberdayaannya dalam melawan kultur yang bersifat paternalistik dan hambatannya dalam menemukan akses ekonomi yang lebih baik untuk kehidupan yang lebih bermartabat.[This article explains the phenomenon of marginalization on Minangkabau women in West Sumatra. The author uses some feminist theoretical concepts to analyze how social construction puts women in their reality of life. Then, to read the position of women oppression in their poverty, or women’s poverty in their oppression. This research is important because the facts show that many Minangkabau women struggle against poverty which often seems to be against their nature. In this position, this research is expected to reveal the understanding of women’s dominance in Minangkabau culture, West Sumatra. This research uses a descriptive-phenomenological approach as an exploration and clarification effort, then explains the phenomenon of women’s impoverishment as a social reality. The poverty shackles of women in this research are based on two things, namely their inadequacy against the paternalistic culture and its obstacles to find better economic access for a more dignified life.
