SOME STRUCTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF AZMAR ANTICLINE - NE IRAQ

The purpose of this study is to elucidate the structural style of Azmar structure, a major anticlinorium within the imbricate partition of Zagros fold-thrust belt in northeastern Iraq. Structural analysis of this anticlinorium demonstrated that it consists of four main NNW-SSE trending anticlines. They are imbricated SW ward through NE dipping reverse faults merge to a deep seated detachment. Furthermore, analysis of minor folds on hinge and limbs of the main Azmar anticline revealed the versatile style of such minor folds and their opposing vergencies. These features emphasize the role of faulting in development of the major fold and the minor folds. This interpretation has been supported by hinge angularity, as well as by association of hinge and limb disrupting reverse slip mesofaults with those minor folds. Therefore a progressive fault related folding is proposed for Azmar structure in this work

The study of literature has gained its momentum in English language teaching. However, literature is regarded as a burden and difficult to learn by the students. Besides that, how the students learn is another aspect that should be considered in learning English literature. This is because students learn differently between one another. Thus, their attitudes towards literature might be influenced by their preferred learning styles. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the ESL undergraduates’ attitudes towards learning English literature across learning styles. Quantitative research design was chosen and 200 respondents were chosen randomly to participate in this study. The results showed that the respondents have positive attitude towards learning English literature and their preferred learning styles are active, sensing, visual and sequential. However, there is no statistically significant difference between the attitudes of the respondents and the different learning styles

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    No full text
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

The objective of this work is to study poly(methyl acylate)- poly(vinyl acetate) (PMA-PVAc) blend polymer electrolytes incorporated with tetrapropyl ammonium iodide (TPAI), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium iodide (BMII) and ethylene carbonate (EC) for the application in dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The conductivity of the single polymer electrolyte was optimized by varying the concentration of TPAI. PMA show higher conductivity than PVAc. PMA/PVAc blends are miscible as indicated by dilute solution viscometry (DSV) and different scanning calorimetry (DSC). The highest conductivities achieved for PMA-TPAI and PVAc-TPAI system are 2.6 10-11 and 1.4 10-11 S cm-1, respectively. The polymer blend electrolyte with the composition WPVAc = 0.1 and WTPAI =0.2 shows the highest conductivity of 4.97 ×10-11 Scm-1. Then, BMII were introduced to the optimized system. The conductivity is found to increase up to 1.37× 10-9 Scm-1 with WBMII = 0.5. The DSSC fabricated using the highest conductiviting sample exibits the highest efficiency of 4.62 %. In the forth system, the mass fraction of EC, WEC was varied while the masses of the other components were kept constant in order to study the dependence of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) performance on EC concentration. Incorporation of EC in PMA/PVAc-TPAI-BMII has enhanced the efficiency of the DSSC. The efficiency enhancement is due to the increase in short circuit current density, Jsc, arising from the conductivity enhancement brought about by the EC. A DSSC with TPAI-BMII-EC liquid electrolyte was fabricated and its photovoltaic and stability performance were investigated and compared with DSSC with PMA/PVAc-TPAI-BMII-EC gel electrolyte. PMA/PVAc decreases the Jsc from 27.87 to 22.91 mA cm-2 and efficiency, η from 12.28 to 9.67 %. Linear sweep voltammetry studies reveal that PMA/PVAc decreases the ion motion in the electrolyte. Although PMA/PVAc deteriorates the performance of DSSC, but it improves the stability performance of DSSC by suppressing the recombination loss as evidenced from the increase in charge transfer resistance at the TiO2 electrode and longer electron recombination lifetime calculated from EIS study
