    reservedDie vorliegende Arbeit bietet einen Übersetzungsvorschlag vom Deutschen ins Italienische des Buchs Der Beamte sagte der rumäniendeutschen Schriftstellerin Herta Müller. Hauptziel dieser Arbeit ist es, bestimmte Übersetzungsschwierigkeiten hervorzuheben und über die entsprechenden Lösungen zu überlegen. Insbesondere werden die Übersetzungsentscheidungen von für den Text prägenden Stilelementen, beispielweise Metaphern, gründlich untersucht. Die Übersetzung des Textes und ihren Kommentar zeigen also die Komplexität von Müllers hochpoetischer Sprache und die Herausforderungen, die sie an den Übersetzer stellt.The following is a translation draft from German into Italian of the book Der Beamte sagte by the Romanian-German author Herta Müller. The main aim of this work is to highlight some problems of translation and focus on any possible solutions. Particularly, translation choices of certain stylistic elements characterizing the book of Müller, such as metaphors, are shown. The translation of the text and its commentary thus reveal the complexity of Müller’s highly poetic language and the challenges for the translator

    Cremation is currently the most widespread form of managing the body after death in many countries: as such, it is an expression of profound changes in the cultural and symbolic dimensions of contemporary societies. The aim of this article is twofold: the first one is to describe some of the main trends regarding the phenomenon of cremation in Western societies and, in particular, its rapid increase as a choice; the other one is to give an account on the process of constructing a qualitative research design aimed at grasping the social and cultural dynamics that are at the basis of the increasing popularity of the choice of cremation. Starting from the field research experience that the author carried out, this essay is mainly devoted to proposing and discussing the role of some sensitizing concepts to plan and start a qualitative research process on the practice of cremation. Academic journals usually publish the results of already-concluded empirical research; however, very few articles are devoted to the initial moments of qualitative research, particularly those connected to the construction of a conceptual framework within which the subsequent empirical steps will be developed. Two sensitizing concepts are presented as conceptual tools that are considered useful to understand the vocabulary of motives sensitizing individuals to this choice: ‘symbolic ambivalence’ and ‘identity work’. After discussing why these two concepts can be adopted as ‘sensitizing concepts’ in such an empirical endeavor, the author discusses methodological implications from these conceptual references to advance empirical processes

    Un’analisi di un’opera di uno dei più importanti, più discussi e più contraddittori autori del teatro tedesco del dopoguerra, vissuto nella Repubblica Democratica Tedesca. Si tratta di una tragedia moderna in cui la storia in quanto tale sembra non esistere più, raggelata dopo il crollo di tutte le ideologie. Il testo è costituito da una serie di citazioni, autocitazioni fedeli o rimaneggiate non sempre immediatamente individuabili e tali da rendere estremamente complicata l’interpretazione. "Die Hamletmaschine" è la distruzione dell’intellettuale: Amleto è un intellettuale che prova soltanto disgusto e nausea nei confronti di un mondo che non riesce a cambiare. L’originale shakespeariano viene stravolto: Amleto diventa un simbolo della perdita di speranza; secondo l’autore il dramma è al tempo stesso la rappresentazione del fallimento necessario e l’autocritica dell’intellettuale contemporaneo.The essay analyses the work of one of the most important, discussed, and contradictory authors of the German theatre of the post-war period, an author who lived in the German Democratic Republic. The study regards the modern tragedy in which the story as such does apparently not exist anymore, since it is ‘frozen’ after the disruption of all ideologies. The text is composed by a series of quotations, faithful or reworked self-quotations which are not always immediately detectable, thus rendering the interpretation extremely complicated. "The Hamletmachine" is the intellectual’s destruction: Hamlet is an intellectual who experiences only nausea and disgust with a world that is unable to change. The original Shakespearian text is turned upside down: Hamlet becomes the symbol of the loss of hope. According to the author, drama is, at the same time, the representation of the necessary collapse and the self-critique of the contemporary intellectual

    The inheritance of a Mesozoic landscape in western Scandinavia

    In-situ weathered bedrock, saprolite, is locally found in Scandinavia, where it is commonly thought to represent pre-Pleistocene weathering possibly associated with landscape formation. The age of weathering, however, remains loosely constrained, which has an impact on existing geological and landscape evolution models and morphotectonic correlations. Here we provide new geochronological evidence that some of the low-altitude basement landforms on- and offshore southwestern Scandinavia are a rejuvenated geomorphological relic from Mesozoic times. K-Ar dating of authigenic, syn-weathering illite from saprolitic remnants constrains original basement exposure in the Late Triassic (221.3±7.0–206.2±4.2 Ma) through deep weathering in a warm climate and subsequent partial mobilization of the saprolitic mantle into the overlying sediment cascade system. The data support the bulk geomorphological development of west Scandinavia coastal basement rocks during the Mesozoic and later, long-lasting relative tectonic stability. Pleistocene glaciations played an additional geomorphological role, selectively stripping the landscape from the Mesozoic overburden and carving glacial landforms down to Plio–Pleistocene times. Saprolite K-Ar dating offers unprecedented possibilities to study past weathering and landscape evolution processes
