Abstract : In construction, most of the decisions taken at the design stage directly impacts on cost, schedule, safety, quality of workmanship and customer satisfaction. Based on this, the aim of this work is to develop a method for implementing constructability indicators from the project analysis, seeking to guide the steps for implementing the project. Thus, it is possible to assess the constructability of architectural and structural designs even before the approval of the project at City Hall, the elaboration of complementary projects, the development of the project budget, among several other subsequent tasks. Thus, the model should provide to developers a possibility of early intervention, avoiding rework. They applied the four stages of action research in partnership with a builder and developer of the northern state of Santa Catarina (Brazil): in-depth survey of the literature review, concepts, models and performance measurement approaches; Exploratory with the diagnosis of construction and verification of possibilities of intervention through cost analysis and design process; action with the establishment and implementation of intervention by applying the indicators raised in the literature and created by the author in two projects for the pilot study; and evaluation with the definition of constructability indicator model by analyzing the results of the pilot study, with the application in a third venture for lifting internal benchmarking values and with the conclusions. With the 24 indicators presented in this thesis and its benchmarking values, it could be concluded that they provide the analysis of the constructability of a project, the critical analysis of projects is an important step in the development process of a construction company and the setting Guidelines can also improve the results of the indicators

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

This article reports on the search for the author of the textbook titled Voor wie Nederlands wil leren [For those who want to learn Dutch]. The article presents as literary fiction with some elements of scientific data in the field of forensic linguistics. The aim was to create a psycholinguistic profile of the author and to show how fascinating it is to study a linguistic fingerprint. When identifying the author of a written text, the expert looks for characteristic linguistic features, analysing lexical, syntactic and grammatical elements, as well as linguistic errors. At the same time, particular attention is paid to the specific vocabulary used by the author of the text (e.g. neologisms, archaisms, borrowings, dialectisms) as well as to stylistic devices (e.g. metaphors, paradoxes, hyperboles). These elements form the so-called idiolect, i.e. the specific language of the individual. Each person uses their own specific and characteristic language, which reflects their education, life experiences, profession or age. Based on an analysis of the linguistic properties of the text, and taking into account psychological knowledge, attempts can also be made to draw conclusions about the emotions experienced by the author. A detailed study of the text on a linguistic, content and psychological level enables the drawing of a psycholinguistic portrait of the presumed author.

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Analyzes the indexing of photographs that compound a comercial image database. Performs an exploratory research, identifying the photographic collection and gathering the descriptors of a sample of images. Compares, through documentary research, the terms used as descriptors in the photographs with the method of analysis of fotograph images proposed by Manini (2002). Remarks that the indexing made in this collection is consistent with almost all categories proposed by the author. Observes that the attribution of descriptors to the images is able to cover all the categories proposed by Manini (2002). However, some other categories can be covered in other fields than the keyword field. Indicates the necessity of having one professional employee in image processing to perform this task, who is as aware of the different types of clients, as of the subjects of images in the collection

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
