Territory of Dawn: The Selected Poems of Eunice Odio
Eunice Odio (1919-1974) is considered the leading Costa Rican poet of the twentieth century. Her principal works include Los Elementos Terrestres (Earthly Elements, 1948), Zona en Territorio del Alba (Zone in the Territory of Dawn, 1953), El Tránsito de Fuego (The Fire\u27s Journey, 1957), and Territorio del Alba y Otros Poemas (Territory of Dawn and Other Poems, 1974). Odio\u27s poetry has remained almost wholly unknown to readers outside Latin America, obscured on the margins of the region\u27s avant-garde and proletarian-poet traditions. In addition to her poetry, she was the author of short stories and numerous political and cultural essays.https://digitalcommons.linfield.edu/linfauth/1095/thumbnail.jp
In Memoriam; by Alfred, Lord Tennyson; A Photographic Interpretation
In Memoriam; by Alfred, Lord Tennyson; A Photographic Interpretation is a photographic essay completed by Eunice Blanchard in 1947 as an English Term Paper at Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. Blanchard tells the story of Tennyson\u27s poem through original photography.

Even if he wins, Jeremy Corbyn will never be able to lead the Labour Party
Jeremy Corbyn is the unlikely favourite for the Labour leadership, with leadership election rule changes and an influx of new members and supporters fuelling his rise. But what would result of his ascendency to the party’s top job? Eunice Goes, author of a forthcoming book about Ed Miliband’s leadership of the Labour Party, argues the Corbyn may end up in office but not in power, with internal opposition likely making his task so difficult as to be impossible
Presença do sagrado em El Tránsito de Fuego (O trânsito do Fogo) da autora Eunice Odio
The sacred background of the apeiron emerges in The Transit of Fire, by Eunice Odio; but also the teachings of the Rosicrucians, linked to Masons, different biblical books, mythology, cabala and the author\u27s coincidences with the poetic reason of Maria Zambrano. And in a very special way, there is the knowledge of the poetess around the hermetic matters. All these works and texts allow a reading of Eunice Odio\u27s poetry book, first published in El Salvador in 1957.El fondo sagrado del apeiron emerge en El Tránsito de Fuego de Eunice Odio. Eunice Foote’s Experiments: an Analysis Based on Chemical Engineering
This study presents an analysis of the results of the experiments made by Eunice Foote (EF), around the mid of 19th century, on the temperature increase of common gases (such as air and carbon dioxide) when heated by solar radiation. Eunice Foote (EF) is nowadays presented as a woman researcher whose contribution to scientific development in the 19th century has been largely ignored. EF was the author of an article titled “Circumstances affecting the Heat of the Sun’s Rays” which contains some statements about a higher temperature increase of carbon dioxide with respect to air when heated by the sun's rays. This article is considered by some science historians as the first experimental proof of the greenhouse effect of carbon dioxide, a theme that is mentioned by the media every day. This analysis of EF experiments is carried out numerically using one chemical engineering process simulation software, with the aim of reproducing her results. Simulated results cannot reproduce EF experiments and are used to evidence some incongruencies in the experimental results. In the end, for the same absorbed energy, a simple heat balance on the gases considered shows that the temperature rise of carbon dioxide would be lower than that shown by air
Integrating inflammatory stimuli with macromolecules for therapy and sensing of vascular diseases
Inflammation is a beneficial component for healing under normal homeostasis. However, excessive inflammation can also aggravate the patient's condition. Biochemical signals elicited under inflammatory conditions are considerably different from those under normal circumstances. Molecules such as pro-inflammatory mediator TNFα and reactive oxygen species are powerful triggers to several signaling mechanisms. In this regard, the overall goal of my research is to integrate inflammatory stimuli TNFα and ROS with macromolecules for therapy and sensing of vascular diseases. To do so, specific features of nanoparticles were studied in Chapter 2 to engineer solutions for the prevailing problems in ischemia and cancer. This thesis presents three approaches in investigating the combination of these potent inflammatory molecules with nanotechnology: (1) TNF-α-releasing liposomes were tethered on the surface of adipose-derived stem cells to enhance their secretory activities (Chapter 3). (2) Thioether-groups were incorporated into micelle-forming polymers to induce a reactive oxygen species-responsive drug release and swelling effect (Chapter 4). (3) Oxidizable chromophores were adsorbed onto support microparticles to form a hydrogen peroxide-sensing patch (Chapter 5). Overall, the results from these studies contribute to a deeper understanding of how to utilize disease biomolecules in the design of novel diagnostics and therapeutics.Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'Closed Access', the embargo will last until 2020-12-01The student, Eunice Leong Jiayu, accepted the attached license on 2018-07-25 at 23:39.The student, Eunice Leong Jiayu, submitted this Dissertation for approval on 2018-07-25 at 23:54.This Dissertation was approved for publication on 2018-07-27 at 13:05.DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #12960 on 2019-02-08 at 11:37:28Made available in DSpace on 2019-02-08T18:39:36Z (GMT). Hommage to Eunice : an analuytical study of Eunice Katunda's piano works
The main objective of this thesis is to analise Eunice Katunda's (1915-1990) piano works composed between 1946 and 1982. The analytical tools were chosen according to the peculiarities of each piece taking in consideration compositional procedures and techniques related to the organization of the musical material employed by the composer. In order to contextualize the composer and her output, a biographical study was made based on personal letters, interviews and newspaper articles obtained in her personal files in order to put into prospective the analyses. Information obtained by the analysis afforded a conclusion in respect to the material, the compositional techniques and idiom of the composer. Complementary to the thesis is added an edition of the pieces, which were previously in manuscript, as well as a recording of two pieces by this author. This research aims an analysis, the study and divulgation of a scarcely known and lesser studied Brazilian composer, as a contribution to the better comprehension of the twentieth-century Brazilian piano music.DoutoradoDoutor em Artes (Música
