    FITS data format for the ASTRI DL0 DATA

    This document deals with the definition of the FITS format of the ASTRI SST-2M Level 0 (DL0) raw data (scientific EVT0, calibration CAL0, and engineering TECH0 data). For the time being, only the DL0 data coming from the camera system (EVT0, CAL0 and HK&VAR data ) are considered. A future version of this document will account for the contents and FITS formats of the files that will contain all those engineering pieces of information needed for the scientific data analysis (the so-called SCI-TECH0 data (extracted from TECH0), hereafter called TECH0) coming from all the other individual subsystems (mirrors, drive, ...) and ancillary units (weather station, ...) of the ASTRI prototype. The design of the FITS data format proposed in this document is based on the available documents concerning the ASTRI prototype raw data stream, acquisition system and format and on previous discussions among ASTRI collaborators. Furthermore, the general requirement to have a raw data FITS format as much as possible optimized for the first steps of the analysis reconstruction software has been taken into account as well. This document deals only with the FITS format of the DL0 data of the ASTRI prototype. The data formats for the subsequent data analysis levels (DL1, DL2, ...) and the possible generalization to the ASTRI/CTA mini-array data will be addressed in separate documents. In this document, we assume that the MC-DL0 data needed for the analysis reduction of the scientific ASTRI prototype real data should be formatted with a FITS structure as much s possible identical to the one developed for real data (taking properly into account all the intrinsic differences between real and simulated DL0 data).     AStri (AStri Beleidsonderzoek en -advies) en APE (Aarts De Jong Wilms Goudriaan Public Economics bv) hebben gezamenlijk bij UWV een voorstel ingediend om onderzoek te doen naar de groei van WIA-aanvragen. Dit voorstel komt neer op een replicatie van het eerdere “Weg naar de WIA” project uit 2007, dat wil zeggen dat een cohort vaste werknemers en een cohort vangnetters die minstens negen maanden ziek gemeld zijn gevolgd worden tot en met eventuele WIA-toetreding. Dit voorstel is aangenomen en uitgevoerd onder de naam "Weg naar de WIA 2". De cohorten werden in het najaar van 2012 aangeschreven en een tweede maal in de zomer van 2013. Door vergelijking van deze nieuwe cohorten met die uit 2007 kunnen effecten van een verslechterde conjunctuur en van een toegenomen aantal tijdelijke contracten onderzocht worden

    "De weg naar de WIA" is een omvangrijk onderzoek dat is uitgevoerd door de onderzoeksbureaus APE en Astri. In dit onderzoek zijn ruim 4.000 werknemers en ruim 1.500 "vangnetters" die op 1 oktober 2007 (circa) negen maanden waren ziek gemeld, anderhalf jaar gevolgd. Dat gebeurde door het enquêteren van deze werknemers c.q. vangnetters omstreeks 10, 18 en 27 maanden na de aanvankelijke ziekmelding. Daarnaast zijn werkgevers van langdurig zieke werknemers tweemaal geënquêteerd. Eerst zijn de werkgevers van de 4.019 deelnemers aan de eerste meting benaderd met vragen over hun verzuim- en re-integratiebeleid. Bij de derde meting is aan de werknemers toestemming gevraagd de werkgever te benaderen met vragen over de begeleiding van langdurig zieke werknemers, waaronder de betreffende respondent.     ASTRI for the Cherenkov Telescope Array

    The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) will be the largest ground-based observatory operating in the very-high-energy gamma-ray (20 GeV - 300 TeV) range. It will be based on more than one hundred telescopes, located at two sites (northern and southern hemispheres). The energy coverage, in the southern CTA array, will extend up to hundreds of TeV thanks to 70 small size telescopes (SST), with primary mirrors of about 4 meters in diameter and large field of view of the order of 9 degrees. It is proposed that one of the first sets of precursors for the CTA SSTs array will be represented by nine ASTRI telescopes. Their prototype, named ASTRI SST-2M, is installed in Italy. It is currently completing the overall commissioning before entering the science verification phase that will performed observing bright TeV sources as Crab Nebula, Mrk421 and Mrk 501 cross-checking the prototype performance with the Monte Carlo predictions. ASTRI telescopes are characterized by a dual-mirror optical design based on the Schwarzschild- Couder (SC) configuration. The focal-plane camera is curved in order to fit the ideal prescription for the SC design and the sensors are small size silicon photomultipliers read-out by a fast front-end electronics. The telescope prototype installed in Italy, has been developed by the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics, INAF, following an end-to-end approach that comprises all aspects from the design, construction and implementation of the entire hardware and software system to the final scientific products. All parts of the system have been designed to comply with the CTA requirements. A collaborative effort, addressed to the implementation of the first ASTRI telescopes for the CTA southern site, is now on-going led by INAF with the Universidade de Sao Paulo (Brazil), the North-West University (South Africa) and the Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics

    The ASTRI Project in the Framework of the Cherenkov Telescope Array

    The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) will be the next generation facility to investigate the very high-energy gamma-ray emission from a large variety of celestial sources. The full array, installed at two sites, one in the northern and one in the southern hemisphere, will start to operate at the beginning of the next decade. In the meantime, a few telescope prototypes have been developed and some pre-production CTA telescopes have been planned. Within this framework, the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) is leading the ASTRI project, whose aim is two-fold. The ASTRI Collaboration has successfully developed and installed in Sicily a prototype of the CTA small-sized telescopes (SST), according to an innovative dual-mirror (2M) optical solution and equipped with a silicon-based photo-detector Cherenkov camera. Moreover, INAF is leading the development of one of the mini-arrays of pre-production CTA telescopes composed of at least nine dual-mirror telescopes and proposed to be installed at the CTA southern site in 2018. The ASTRI mini-array of SST pre-production CTA telescopes will be able to both verify some of the adopted innovative solutions, such as the wide field of view, and to investigate sources emitting at energies from a few TeV up to hundreds of TeV. We discuss the preliminary results obtained by the ASTRI SST-2M prototype during its ongoing commissioning phase, the expected Monte Carlo performance of the ASTRI mini-array of SST pre-production CTA telescopes, and provide an overview of the scientific topics that can be addressed both, as a stand-alone mini-array and in synergy with other pre-production CTA telescopes
