The receptive analysis of the Hikayat Amir Hamzah (HAH) text shows active response from the readers through the creation of new text such as Serat Menak (Sr.Mn.). The relationship between both of them can be seen in its adaptations into Javanese literature (Sr.Mn.) in which HAH undergoes some changes. The author adjusted HAH to suit the Javanese literary and cultural traditions, e.g. Sr.Mn. is composed in the form of tembang (poetry), the name of the characters are adapted into Javanese culture; there are previously unnamed characters which are given names in Sr.Mn.; the history (background) of some characters is made clearly; and more titles (from pewayangan) are attributed to Amir Hamzah and Umar Umayah

The phrase "Sheikh Abdurrauf is in the same tribe as Hamzah Fansuri" in the Cirebon tripe manuscript sparked debate among researchers regarding the relationship between Sheikh Abdurrauf and Hamzah Fansuri. This debate became interesting because a collective memory was found among the people of Singkil Aceh, who believed that there was a nephew-uncle and student-teacher relationship between them. Collective memory is strengthened by two sites, which are the graves of Sheikh Ali Al Fanshuri (father of Sheikh Abdurrauf) and his younger brother, Sheikh Hamzah Fansuri, in two areas in Singkil. Through critical analysis of literature and in-depth exploration of collective memory and sites, the author concludes that the two of them had a familial relationship as nephew and uncle, and they even had a student and teacher relationship at the beginning of Sheikh Abdurrauf\u27s educatio

WAHDATUL WUJUD DALAM DUA KEBUDAYAAN: KAJIAN ATAS SYAIR HAMZAH FANSURI DAN NASKAH USURRAN GANTI

The Wahdatul Wujud doctrine brought by Hamzah Fansuri was once so dominant in Sufi discourse in Nusantara, as evidenced by the large number of manuscripts discussing it in various regions of the archipelago. This study utilizes two corpora with Wahdatul Wujud nuances and pantheistic characteristics from two different locations, the coast and the mountains, namely Hamzah Fansuri\u27s Poems, edited by Drewes and Brekel (1986), and Usurran Ganti (UG), edited by Izuddin (2023). This study aims to analyze the similarities and differences in conveying the theological concept of Wahdatul Wujud and to analyze the various backgrounds that influence both texts in conveying this doctrine. The theory used is Roland Shaw\u27s Syncretism (1994). The method employed in this study is an intertextual approach, comparing the analyzed corpus with other works by Hamzah Fansuri and various Islamic literature. The conclusion of this article is that both texts express the concept of Wahdatul Wujud in a pantheistic manner through natural symbols, albeit in different ways. Fansuri uses maritime metaphors that reflect the influence of Persian-Arabic Sufism, while the author of UG employs mountain symbols based on local cosmology. This difference stems from the authors\u27 backgrounds; Hamzah Fansuri as an intellectual from a coastal region connected to the global Islamic network, while the author of UG blends Islam with pre-Islamic knowledge deeply rooted in the Uluan culture of South Sumatra. Fansuri also transforms non-Islamic symbols into Sufi allegories, while the UG author engages in cultural negotiation by replacing Islamic cosmological narratives with local cosmology. Fansuri\u27s poetry symbolism is universal, whereas UG uses specific symbols tied to local beliefs.
