    This paper summarises our experience of the molecular and field analysis of somaclonal variation within transgenic plant populations. Transgenic rice, poplar and sugarcane plants were produced with different transformation protocols. These were based on protoplast treatment, Agrobacterium tumefaciens infection, particle acceleration or intact cell electroporation, all having in common dedifferentiated cell culture, followed by plant regeneration and selection. Transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana plants have also been produced by an approach that apparently does not require cell dedifferentiation. This is based on in planta Agrobacterium-mediated gene transfer by infiltration of adult Arabidopsis thaliana plants. The presence and activity of the foreign gene in the transgenic genome has been verified by conventional methods (PCR, Southern, Northern and Western blotting). Genomic changes have been evaluated with PCR-based tools (RFLP, RAPD, AFLP, RAMP and AFRP). The statistical analysis of the polymorphic DNA bands produced by these tools provided the basis for answering some basic questions related to the conditions that favour induction, frequency, inheritance and commercial exploitation of transgenic somaclonal variants

    In the present research article we stipulate here a principle of integration, between the morphological and the notional planes of a word, which would allow to better understand the success some lexical neoformations can achieve in their diffusion and establishment, until they practically turn into culturemes, i.e., into notional domains containing semiotic traits which point to significant and specific aspects of the culture of reference. For this, we take into account terms originating in Peninsular Spanish Caló which are present in Cuban varieties of Spanish, on the base of which such lexical neoformations with high sociocultural impact are constructed. After an qualitative analysis of those elements that can be considered specifically of Romani ancestry within the Caló linguistic galaxy, we report those other terms that even belonging to Caló are not necessarily of Romani origin, also trying in this case to conduct a paradigmatic analysis of how the neologisms formed out of them can become representative cultural objects.Se establece en el presente artículo de investigación un principio de integración, entre planos morfológico y nocional de una palabra, que permita entender mejor el éxito que pueden lograr algunas neoformaciones léxicas en su difusión e implantación, hasta convertirse prácticamente en culturemas, o sea en dominios nocionales que contienen rasgos semióticos que apuntan a aspectos significativos y específicos de la cultura de referencia. Para ello tomamos en consideración términos procedentes del caló peninsular y presentes en el habla insular cubana, a partir de los cuales se operan tales neoformaciones léxicas con alto impacto sociocultural. Tras un análisis cualitativo de aquellos elementos que pueden considerarse específicamente de ascendencia romaní dentro de la galaxia lingüística caló, consignamos aquellos otros términos que aun perteneciendo al caló no son de probado o demostrable origen romaní, intentando asimismo en este caso un análisis paradigmático de cómo los neologismos formados a partir de ellos llegan a convertirse en objetos culturales representativos

    The purpose of this report is to present some of the market's façade panels and to do a survey of Masonite façade panels and compare. Therefore I have looked closer on potential competitors and studied their assembly method and properties. I will also propose suggestions on installing Masonite panels and improvements to the current carrying system. The carrying system for façade panels in general.   Various key people in various areas of the construction industry have been interviewed. People with a wide knowledge of theory and with real work experience have been my main focuses too implement this survey. I have also collected data from the façade panel system’s properties.   There are benefits with Masonites façade panel but I also found that there is a possibility to make changes to improve their properties. The improvements are only theory and not tested in practice, but it could be a good start for improvement on the façade constructions. The results of my research and my proposals are explained in more details later on in this essay.Syftet med den här rapporten är att redovisa en del av marknadens fasadskivor. En kartläggning av Masonite skivans eventuella konkurrenter samt undersökning av deras monteringssystem och egenskaper. I den här rapporten kommer jag även att föreslå förslag på montering av Masonites skivor och förbättringar av dagens läktsystem. Det som bär upp fasadaskivorna i allmänhet. Olika nyckelpersoner inom olika områden i byggbranschen har intervjuats. Personer med breda kunskaper om teori och monteringserfarenhet. Samt faktainsamling för kartläggning av marknadens fasadskivors egenskaper. Det finns fördelar med Masonites fasadskiva jämfört med konkurrenterna och det finns möjlighet att göra förbättringar på dagens läktsystem. De förbättringarna är endast teoretiska och inte beprövade i praktiken, men kan vara en bra start till utveckling av dagens fasadkonstruktioner. De förslag som jag kommit fram till finns redovisade i den här rapporten

    In vitro culture of Luma chequen from vegetative buds

Luma chequen, a small tree or large shrub belonging to the Myrtaceae family, is endemic to South America and has medicinal, nutritional and ornamental potential. However, its native habitat is deteriorating gradually, and it is suffering from the effects of fragmentation that is being caused by the conversion of forest land to agricultural land and the natural expansion of monocultural plantations of exotic species, such as Pinus radiata. The purpose of this work is to develop an effective procedure for establishing in vitro cultures of the native Chilean species L. chequen. Aseptic nodal segments were evaluated after exposure to a disinfecting agent (1% solution of sodium hypochlorite) for different lengths of time. Murashige and Skoog (MS) or Woody Plant (WPM) culture media with 6-Bencilaminopurine (BAP) or 2-isopentenil adenine (2-iP) added to a concentration of 1 mg L-1 were evaluated. Although no significant differences were observed between cultures with and without additives, 40.43% of the explant cultures were successfully established. Furthermore, the choice of basal medium or the addition of plant growth regulators was not found to affect the shoot formation efficiency.H. Mancilla, K. Quiroz, A. Arencibia, B. Carrasco y R. Luma chequen pertenece a la familia Myrtaceae y es una especie endémica de Sudamérica. Su hábitat se está deteriorando paulatinamente producto de la conversión de suelos forestales a suelos agrícolas y por las plantaciones en monocultivo con especies exóticas, como Pinus radiata. Por otro lado, la regeneración natural de la especie es escasa, debido a la escasa viabilidad de sus semillas en sus hábitats originales. El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo desarrollar un procedimiento eficaz de establecimiento al cultivo in vitro para la especie nativa chilena Luma chequen, la que se tiene un alto potencial para uso medicinal y en la industria de los nutracéuticos. Para el establecimiento al cultivo in vitro de segmentos nodales se evaluó el efecto del tiempo de exposición de los explantes ante el hipoclorito de sodio (1%), la composición del medio de cultivo y el tipo de regulador del crecimiento (BAP y 2-iP a 1 mg L-1). Se obtuvo un 40,43% de eficiencia en el establecimiento de los explantes. No se observó un efecto significativo de los medios de cultivo o los reguladores del crecimiento sobre la emisión de brotes en los explantes establecidos
