The Profil of Guided Algebra Problem Solving Based on SOLO Taxonomy Reviewed from Cognitive Conseptual Tempo Style of the Students of SMA Negeri 1 Makale Tana Toraja (supervised by Baso Intang Sappaile dan Ilham Minggi) Problem solving is a thinking ability that extremely needed in daily life. Each student has different problem solving ability in solving problem. Some of them can solve even high level problem and some can only solve low level problem. The process to reach the problem solving is also different although in the end the result is the same. Cognitive style is one of the factors which needed to be concerned in determining the students’ learning achievement, one of them is in term of problem solving ability. Cognitive style influence the way of students solving the problem and it is necessary for teachers to pay attention in understanding their students. One of them can be seen by impulsive cognitive and reflective cognitive style of a student. The object of the research is to discover the profile of problem solving by seeing and revealing the students thinking process in solving superitem test which consist of 4 stages according to SOLO (Structure of Learning Outcomes) Taxonomy, namely unistructural, multistructural, relational, and extended abstract. The research is a qualitative descriptive research. The main instrument of the research is the researcher himself guided by superitem test, impulsive-reflective cognitive test namely MFFT (Matching Familiar Figure Test), and valid interview guideline. The collecting data of the research was conducted by giving superitem test and verified with interview. The subject of this research was the students of class X1 at SMA Negeri 1 Makale Tana Toraja consisted of four students which 2 subjects with cognitive impulsive style and 2 subjects with cognitive reflective style. The result of the research show that: (a) the first subject’s impulsive and reflective style showed the tendency of problem solving in abstract level which was expanded in the question of one variable linear equation and in the question of two variable linear equation, (b) the second subject’s impulsive cognitive stule in two variable linear equation problem solving showed the tendency of unistructural and relational thinking only, (c) the second subject’s cognitive reflective style showed the tendency of problem solving in relational level, (d) the subject’s impulsive and reflective cognitive style showed the tendency of the same problem solving in the level unistructural, multistructural, relational, and abstract in the question of one variable linear equation, and different in the abstract level in the question of two variable linear equatio

    Student engagement is a manifestation of the responsibility of students as humans to God. Humans have responsibility to be involved in caring for and protecting the earth (Gen. 1:28). So, it is fitting for students to be involved in every process of their life, including learning. Distance learning is negatively affected when students are late joining the video conference, are mostly silent when the teacher asks questions, do not listen to teacher instructions properly which causes them not to return to the video conference, and do not answer when called on by the teacher. Positive reinforcement is given to stimulate and increase student motivation, increase student attention in the learning process, and increase student learning activities. The purpose of this study is to describes the application of positive reinforcement methods on the involvement of student behavior in distance learning and see the positive impact. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Based on the research, it was found that by applying four forms of positive reinforcement according to the principles of warmth and enthusiasm, meaningfulness, avoiding negative responses, and using various positive reinforcements, students can be encouraged in their behavior and involvement in learning. It also encourages other aspects, such as student discipline, student creativity, student confidence, and student learning attitudes.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Keterlibatan siswa merupakan salah satu perwujudan tanggung jawab siswa sebagai manusia kepada Allah. Manusia memiliki tanggung jawab untuk terlibat dalam memelihara dan menjaga bumi (Kej 1:28). Maka, sudah sepatutnya siswa terlibat dalam setiap proses kehidupannya, termasuk dalam pembelajaran. Pada kenyataannya, siswa terlambat bergabung di video conference, perilaku siswa sebagian besar diam ketika guru bertanya, tidak mendengarkan instruksi guru dengan baik dan menyebabkan siswa tidak kembali bergabung di video conference, dan tidak menjawab ketika ditunjuk oleh guru. Penguatan positif diberikan untuk merangsang dan meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa, meningkatkan perhatian siswa dalam proses pembelajaran, dan meningkatkan aktivitas belajar siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini ialah untuk memaparkan penerapan metode penguatan positif terhadap keterlibatan perilaku siswa pada pembelajaran jarak jauh dan melihat dampak positifnya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan penelitian ditemukan bahwa, dengan menerapkan empat bentuk penguatan positif sesuai prinsip kehangatan dan antusias, kebermaknaan, menghindari respon negative dan menggunakan penguatan positif yang bervariasi dapat mendorong keterlibatan perilaku siswa dalam pembelajaran. Hal ini juga mendorong aspek lain yang terdapat pada diri siswa, seperti kedisiplinan siswa, kreativitas siswa, kepercayaan diri siswa, dan sikap belajar siswa

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    APPLICATION OF THE CARD SORT ACTIVE LEARNING METHOD TO IMPROVE STUDENT LEARNING ACTIVITY IN CLASS

    Learning activeness is an activity that focuses on student development physically, intellectually, emotionally, and mentally so that students are not only recipients of information but are involved in learning. Student activeness is very important because it affects student motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes. Low student activeness can be seen from students being sleepy, not paying attention to the teacher's explanation, not focusing, and not having the courage to ask questions and express opinions. The writing of this final project aims to describe student learning activity through the application of card-sort-type active learning methods in the fifth grade. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that, after applying the card sort method, the average learning activeness of fifth-grade elementary school students increased from 53.33% to 80.67%. In conclusion, the card sort type of active learning method can enhance learning activities by providing opportunities for students to be actively involved in the learning process. The author's suggestion for future researchers is to continue investigating the application of active learning methods such as card sort, to enhance learning motivation

    HAMBATAN BELAJAR MATEMATIKA: STUDI KASUS DI KELAS VIII SUATU SEKOLAH DI SEMARANG [BARRIERS TO LEARNING MATHEMATICS: A CASE STUDY OF GRADE 8 STUDENTS AT A SCHOOL IN SEMARANG]

    Christian education aims to enable students to take part in serving God and others both now and forever. The barriers to learning mathematics make it difficult for students to achieve the goals of Christian education. In some cases, students are found to have barriers to learning mathematics. Based on this problem, the researchers wanted to know the types of barriers to learning mathematics, the causes, and the responses of teachers, schools, and students to these barriers. This study used the case study method of a qualitative approach and the subjects were grade 8 students. The data collection techniques used were interviews for mathematics teachers and principals as well as open-ended questionnaires for students. The results revealed that there were barriers to learning mathematics that can be categorized into internal and external factors including a lack of learning willingness on the part of the students, inappropriate views of mathematics, uncontrolled classroom conditions, and the contagion of the environment. The responses given by teachers, schools, and students about mathematics learning barriers include reviewing, giving additional lessons, and relearning either individually or through others. Suggestions for teachers and principals are to organize workshops related to mathematics learning barriers and improving teaching quality.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Pendidikan Kristen bertujuan membuat para siswa dapat mengambil bagian pelayanan kepada Tuhan dan sesama baik sekarang maupun selamanya. Dengan adanya hambatan belajar matematika menyebabkan siswa sulit mencapai tujuan dari pendidikan Kristen. Dalam beberapa kesempatan, sering ditemukan siswa yang memiliki hambatan belajar matematika. Untuk itu peneliti ingin mengetahui macam hambatan belajar matematika, penyebabnya, serta respon guru, sekolah dan siswa terkait dengan hambatan belajar matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif jenis studi kasus dengan subjek siswa kelas VIII. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu wawancara terhadap guru matematika dan kepala sekolah serta kuisioner terbuka bagi siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hambatan belajar matematika yang dapat dikategorikan ke dalam faktor internal dan eksternal, diantaranya siswa malas belajar, pandangan yang kurang tepat terhadap pelajaran matematika, kondisi kelas yang tidak kondusif dan pengaruh yang buruk dari lingkungan sekitar. Respon yang diberikan guru, sekolah dan siswa terhadap hambatan belajar matematika diantaranya menjelaskan kembali materi, memberikan pelajaran tambahan dan belajar kembali secara individu maupun melalui orang lain. Saran bagi guru dan kepala sekolah adalah dengan mengadakan pelatihan terkait dengan hambatan belajar matematika serta meningkatkan kualitas mengajar

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    PENERAPAN METODE DRILL UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR KOGNITIF SISWA PADA MATERI HIMPUNAN KELAS VII PADA SUATU SMP DI SENTANI [THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE DRILL METHOD TO INCREASE STUDENTS' COGNITIVE LEARNING OUTCOMES OF SETS IN A GRADE 7 CLASS AT A JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN SENTANI]

    Learning outcomes are student’s responsibility after learning something. Furthermore, it is very important to achieve national education goals. This research is based on the students’ low cognitive learning outcomes. As evidenced by students’ scores, most of them have not been able to achieve the 60 KKM set in mathematics lessons and they lack practice and accuracy in doing mathematical problems. Because of students’ low cognitive learning outcomes, the researcher applied the drill method to overcome this problem and to understand how the implementation of the drill method increases students' cognitive learning outcomes. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) by Kemmis and McTaggart which was carried out from July to October 2017 in three cycles. The subjects were 21 students of grade 7C at A Junior High School in Sentani. The instruments used in this research were written test sheets, observation sheets, student questionnaires, and interview guidelines. To process the quantitative data, the researcher used descriptive statistical analysis while qualitative data used descriptive qualitative. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the implementation of the drill method does improve students' cognitive learning outcomes in the set material with the percentage of students who reached the KKM in the first, second and third cycle being 52%, 71%, and 86% respectively. Besides implementing the drill method steps, this research also conducted the following: (1) reviewing the material, (2) giving motivation, (3) emphasizing important concepts, (4) checking students' understanding, (5) involving all students working on a variety of questions, (6) guiding students with difficulties, (7) correcting individual and classical mistakes, and (8) reminding students of time and thoroughness.BASAHA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Hasil belajar merupakan tanggung jawab siswa setelah melakukan kegiatan pembelajaran. Selain itu, hasil belajar sangat penting dalam ketercapaian tujuan pendidikan nasional. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Hal tersebut terlihat dari nilai-nilai yang diperoleh siswa, sebagian besar siswa belum mampu mencapai KKM 60 pada pelajaran Matematika, serta kurangnya latihan dan ketelitian siswa dalam mengerjakan soal-soal Matematika. Berdasarkan fakta rendahnya hasil belajar kognitif siswa, maka peneliti menerapkan metode drill untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dan mengetahui penerapan metode drill dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis dan McTaggart yang dilaksanakan pada Juli sampai Oktober 2017 dalam tiga siklus. Subyek penelitian adalah 21 siswa kelas VII C pada suatu SMP di Sentani. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini berupa lembar tes tertulis, lembar observasi, lembar angket siswa, dan pedoman wawancara. Pengolahan data kuantitatif pada penelitian ini menggunakan analisis statistik deskriptif sedangkan data kualitatif menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode drill dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada materi himpunan dengan persentase siswa yang mencapai KKM pada siklus I, II dan III sebesar 52%, 71%, dan 86%. Selain melaksanakan langkah-langkah metode drill, pada penelitian ini juga dilakukan hal-hal sebagai berikut: (1) mereview materi, (2) memberikan motivasi, (3) menekankan konsep penting, (4) mengecek pemahaman siswa, (5) melibatkan seluruh siswa mengerjakan soal yang bervariasi, (6) membimbing siswa yang mengalami kesulitan, (7) memperbaiki kesalahan secara individual dan klasikal, serta (8) mengingatkan siswa tentang waktu dan ketelitian.

    ANALISIS PENGGUNAAN MODEL THINK PAIR SHARE UNTUK MEMBANGUN PARTISIPASI SISWA DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA SECARA DARING

    Partisipasi siswa merupakan keikutsertaan untuk memberikan kontribusi dalam pembelajaran sebagai tanggung jawabnya. Rendahnya partisipasi siswa membuatnya tidak antusias untuk memberikan kontribusi sehingga siswa kehilangan rasa ingin tahunya ketika menggali materi pelajaran. Guru perlu melibatkan siswa dalam pembelajaran. Model think pair share (TPS) dengan langkah-langkah berpikir, berpasangan dan berbagi membuat siswa terlibat, antusias dan berkontribusi serta memiliki rasa ingin tahu untuk mengkonstruksi pengetahuan. Guru Kristen mengarahkan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada Kristus dan menyadari bahwa siswa telah jatuh ke dalam dosa sehingga perlu digembalakan untuk berpartisipasi dalam menemukan pengetahuan sejati. Tujuan penulisan paper ini ialah untuk mengetahui penerapan, kendala, kelebihan dan kekurangan dari penerapan model TPS dalam membangun partisipasi siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa model TPS membuat siswa semakin berpartisipasi dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Kendala yang dihadapi ketika pembelajaran daring ialah guru sulit memantau seluruh siswa berada dalam koridor yang sesuai. Kelebihannya siswa semakin tertantang, bertoleransi, dan berani sedangkan kekurangannya siswa cenderung bergantung dengan teman dan penerapannya membutuhkan banyak waktu. Saran yang diberikan sebaiknya guru memberikan instruksi yang jelas dan meminta siswa menunjukkan bukti screenshoot atau video rekaman ketika berdiskusi sedangkan bagi peneliti selanjutnya dapat menerapkan model ini untuk mengatasi hasil belajar siswa yang rendah
